I am not an Adventist but a Pentecostal Christian, I just stumbled across this message on TH-cam. I was very impressed with the Pastor's position on guns and also his love and passion for God's holy, precious, written Word. Thank you for your message sir! God's blessings upon you and your ministry in Jesus' name.
Charisma 101 you said no other religion has as many similarities. You know what I want to debate tour argument but you’ll have to give me some time. However first off. Seventh day Adventist’s don’t believe in eternal hell fire or Sunday worship. Two PINNACLE catholic teachings... so I can already debunk you on that 7th day Adventist’s are extremely similar to Catholics.
LionHeart-IV we do believe salvation by faith however we don’t believe that you can ask for forgiveness on killing someone then go back to killing again. And repeat the cycle because you aren’t asking to be forgives, it isn’t genuine. We also believe to keep the 7th day holy instead of Sunday. As that is a ten commandments and I’ll continue this later as I need to get back to the other guy.
Charisma 101 you know what my friend I’ll play your game. So let’s find some ground. Let’s say that Ellen G white is wrong and she is a false prophet ect. More importantly what the SDA church preaches is the Sabbath message (which will inevitably become why has the world decided to stop following Gods laws), the State of the dead, the trinity and the health message. So now we can focus on those 4 points since those 4 are usually the difference between 7th day Adventism and other Protestant groups. And we do believe that faith alone can save you. That’s usually where you guys try to twist the sabbath message into work related salvation. Anyways let’s focus on one thing at a time so let’s focus on why 7th day Adventist’s to believe in grace. But we also believe that weak faith is also fatal.
I stood up for Christ about 20 years ago because of Doug's sermon back then. And I watch this one today, about Voltaire (hilarious), and so much more history and efforts of principalities to crush Christianity, the popularity of the Bible and how it has magically survived because of God's power, and I have thought what Doug spoke in this sermon so many times. Just fantastic! Godbless Doug Batchelor and all his family and his work.
@@larryaustin6977 Yes i agree, the bible is the most attacked book ever written, many have tried to destroy it and have failed, from the babylonian's to adolf hitler, to stalin and even today china and viet nam trying to ban it. It will be interesting to see what happen's there.
@Charisma 101 The brethren will say I am arguing with you when I say that you are wrong. What I am doing is warning you that such accusations without facts is dangerous. Beware of being deceived and your soul end up destroyed.
“When a strong man, fully armed, guards his own house, his possessions are safe.” Luke 11:21 “A prudent person foresees danger and takes precautions. The simpleton goes blindly on and suffers the consequences.” Proverbs 22:3
For the past month or more the Lord has been confirming to me over and over and over again that He is my refuge and protection. And for me to not fear the chaos, armies, fire, and calamity around me, because He is my shield. To not fear man, because He is God and is greater than man. We need to be drawing closer to God in deep prayer and communion with Him.
I too have these thoughts and feelings! I don’t understand how we are to trust the Lord yet, carry our (lack of faith in our pockets/purse) I also have a problem with canning and storing up food for the time of famine, in the Bible if I recall correctly.. those who stored up food, were told from the Lord to do so. Unless we’re told, I don’t see it. Children of Israel had food provided all the time they were on their journey to Canaan land. May I mention that tornadoes, earthquakes and all manner of disasters can wipe that stored food away! This is the last generation, I believe where Jesus will return 🙏 I ask for prayer from those who will, please pray that the Lord help me to see and KNOW what it is to do that I’m lacking. Thank you and God Bless 🙏 I refuse to let this confuse me..I have ask Jesus Himself to guide me because He is my sure confidence of the way the truth and the light. I love but can’t trust man with my soul!

You might double check that concept. Jeremiah 8:8... The written word can lead you to the Living Word. The Living Word is perfect, the written word is not.

You need to let the Holy Spirit lead you. Don’t put your faith in pastors and their interpretations. Not all pastors are right all the time. Ellen white even said she was a lesser light and pointed to Gods word. Pastor Doug is a lesser light. He must decrease and Christ must increase.
Not sure if everyone commenting heard the sermon fully but he did say that at their church they do take practical security measures that " they don't advertise". Common sense doesn't just fly away when you enter the church and I'm thankful that we have men that are willing and courageous to protect the children and all others in the church.
Creeping Death I don’t really understand how you can make that out of what he said... Every human being is in the hands of God. God allows persecution and mistreatment of His children. He allowed Paul and Peter to be executed, Stephen to be stoned and many martyrs to die. However, often the death of His children is prevented by His holy angels. Look at the story of Elisha and his servant where God send legions of angels to fight the army of the Syrians. True Christianity is a complete trust on God’s plan for you. Jesus told us to love our enemies. Do we show love to them by killing them? Violence by man is never an act of love to the neighbor, its an act of love to self. God promises to take care of His children when they are in danger, as long as they put trust in Him. “The angel of the Lord encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them.” Psalms 34:7 I know quite some experiences where God intervened for His children that do not carry weapons. If we truly put our faith in Him, He will work for us.
@@oorahjoe But God was with him. I think sometimes in unforeseen situations God will send an angel to keep us from harm BUT in the case of David, God was teaching him to trust. His experience in these matters proved the heart of David and developed in him courage, fortitude and faith.
@Creeping Death To the true faithful ones yes, they do posses somewhat of an invincibility. God will send His angels to guard and protect from evil Angel's. This would be much easier than doing things in our own strength. The Angel's are there to protect and guard from Satans assaults. But God gave us free will to ask for His help...whether atheist or Christian if we seek him, He will help. Yes many are persecuted, just as in the days of the Bible but God got them through...and some of course were martyrs.
This year 2020, we who look for the 2nd Advent are expecting special Prophetic fulfilment. Knowing and living Bible, Christ formed within us; is what we need. God takes care of the rest.
Psalm 144:1, Luke 22:36, Psalm 82:3-4, 1Tim5:8, James 4:7. Defending and protecting your life and the lives of those you care about is respect toward God's gift of life!
If God commands thou shalt not kill, its ok to defend ourselves. As for vengeance, that belongs to God sayeth the Lord. Those who kill with the sword will be killed by the sword.

@Michael Heathman I am not an Adventist. I sometimes listen to their sermons. I do not condemn anyone by my remark. This is just my understanding of things!
Psalms 119:105 (KJV) Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. Isaiah 9:8 (KJV) The Lord sent a word into Jacob, and it hath lighted upon Israel.
The angels of God, thousands upon thousands, ... guard us against evil and press back the powers of darkness that are seeking our destruction. Have we not reason to be thankful every moment, thankful even when there are apparent difficulties in our pathway?-My Life Today, 171
Before leaving the house for labor, all the family should be called together; and the father, or the mother in the father's absence, should plead fervently with God to keep them through the day. Come in humility, with a heart full of tenderness, and with a sense of the temptations and dangers before yourselves and your children; by faith bind them upon the altar, entreating for them the care of the Lord. Ministering angels will guard children who are thus dedicated to God.-Child Guidance, 519
Sorry but that is not true. She consistently said she was NOT a prophet. You might want to do better research my friend. It is the Bible that says Satan is the one responsible for the evil that sin brought into this world. He will ultimately pay for all of this in that he will be banished for a thousand years and then destroyed in a lake of fire. All those who didn't allow Jesus blood to cover their sins will perish with him. It is Jesus and his sacrifice that saves and that alone!
I am inspired & value so much, the teachings on this site, along with materials for study, & motivation to worship God. God continually bless this ministry for the glory of God in Jesus name.
People are trusting to themselves and their weapons to protect and defend them. It is God who defends his people. We are to love and forgive those who hate us. We are all as lambs to the slaughter, martyrs for our Lord if He so chooses. We are not called to defend ourselves by taking the life of others, rather to depend on God for our safety. His armies, His angels, camp about those who fear and believe upon His name. Leave the fight to God, and leave the judgment of unjust acts to Him. He will not let them go unpunished.
@Charisma 101 Brother, I suggest you compare the 4 gospel accounts on this topic. Concerning this same situation, Jesus also said: But one of the men with Jesus pulled out his sword and struck the high priest’s slave, slashing off his ear. “Put away your sword,” Jesus told him. “Those who use the sword will die by the sword. Don’t you realize that I could ask my Father for thousands of angels to protect us, and he would send them instantly? Matthew 26:51-53 NLT Was he contradicting himself? Or did he mean something else? Was he using figurative language? Regardless, the overwhelming weight of evidence points to Jesus not wanting his disciples to resort to violence, we are to plead our case with God.
@Charisma 101 The people who came after Jesus that night were not carrying weapons to defend themselves, they were using them to persecute. By telling Peter to put away his sword, Jesus was telling him that it was pointless to use it. Furthermore, he told him that those who fight using weapons shall die. If he so chose, Jesus could have prayed to God and God would have sent angels to defend them, rendering their plans for defending themselves using weapons meaningless. Doing anything similar to something that an evil person is doing is unwise. However, people are free to follow whatever they think is right.
@@soldier4christ We are not officially in time of trouble. I suspect Pastor Batchelor was suggesting there were hired guards in the church rather than members who were armed. But again I am just guessing at the true meaning. I have already addressed this at our church. If ever we are attacked, members are to throw everything loose at the intruder so as to distract him or her making in easier for one of us to tackle and subdue the evil doer. Those hymnals would deliver a serious blow if tossed by the average adult or even teenaged boy.

I grew up a seventh day adventist. Went to an adventist school. And somewhere along the way I became a sinner trying to hang on to what bit of convoluted knowledge I had & no understanding. I know God kept at me, I recall many times being whispered back to the adventist family. Early in the pandemic, living surrounded by adventist churches, I was inspired to began looking for worship online. I had heard of pastor doug but had never listened to his sermons. I've been greatly rewarded by following his many sermons & presentions. However, I tried starting to read the Bible & I can't seem to find the message as you did while in the cave. I am working on my prayer life & listen constantly to you and a few others online. I just can't seem to get into a good Bible reading program. HELP!
I think Pastor Doug explained this beautifully. Should we have trust in God? Yes! Does that mean we don’t practice common sense in this day and age? No. Sadly with the way the world is now, guns do have a place in a church. For those who say they don’t I would say tell that to all the people who died in the Sutherland Springs church shooting. I would also ask those same people who say we should trust in God (TRUE!) and not use our common sense that the Lord gives us, do you wear a seatbelt in a car? Why? Don’t you trust God will protect you? Do you lock your doors and windows at night before you go to bed? Why? Don’t you trust God will protect you? The word tells us we should not tempt God, and I whole heartedly agree with that. But as a gun owner I do not believe that having trust in God means you should not be practical.
This day and age is no different than any before it. As it was in the days of Noah and of Lot, so it is now. Because people are living in fear does not make it ok to take the life God has given. Guns are different than other protective devices brother. A seat belt cannot be used by someone to attack someone else and cause death. I would never point a gun at another person with the intent to killI, Jesus has not called me to do that. It is God who defends his people. We are to love and forgive those who hate us. We are all as lambs to the slaughter, martyrs for our Lord if He so chooses, like any other Christian who has been murdered before us. We are not called to defend ourselves by taking the life of others, rather to depend on God for our safety. His armies, His angels, camp about those who fear and believe upon His name. Leave the fight to God, and leave the judgment of unjust acts to Him. He will not let them go unpunished.
Gustavo Ontiveros brother I bring up the statement because it is an example of a precautionary measure that people take in case something bad happens ie a car accident. Why take precautions on anything if you are trusting in God to protect you?
John18:36 “My kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, My servants would fight, so that I should not be delivered to the Jews; but now My kingdom is not from here.” Matt26:52 ..Then said Jesus unto him, Put up again thy sword into his place: for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword. Guns have no place in the congregation...period! A plain thus saith the Lord.......
I believe that as long as I’m in the will of God He is my PROTECTOR!! If it is His will that I die at the hands of a sick minded person then His will be done.. That church where this happened had already come to the conclusion and “believed” that they needed armed security men in their services... so it was unto them as they believed.. “ Then said Jesus unto him, Put up again thy sword into his place: for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword” ( Matt.26:52) If my church believes it’s up to congregation to protect them selves or worse yet, hired guns, then I’m gonna find myself another church and pray for those that trust in man.. I firmly believe this is a heart issue.. and once again God is revealing the hearts of His people..
I pray that your heart is fully ready and trusting in the Lord. When distress comes to your life, do not show your human side as many will be watching your examples and your comment here may stand as a reminder to you.
Max JNB .. sir you do know when your time comes to die NOTHING will prevent it, right? I pray that your heart is ready and trusting the Lord now to keep you in all the afflictions of life. We may fail Him but He will never fail us!
Sister Becky, please know I am not saying this in a way to attack or offend you but it truly is a question I had while reading your comment. Do you wear a seatbelt in a car? Do you lock your doors or windows of your home at night? Do you lock your car before you go to bed? Why? Can’t God protect you from all this? I don’t say this as a way to mock or belittle our Lord I’m ANY MANNER! I know He can do anything with our without our “help.” But what I am saying is believing and trusting in God does not mean we should not exercise the common sense the Lord has given us.
J R .. and so your saying it’s common sense to carry a gun in a church? And no worries you haven’t offended me! But I think you guys that are comparing seatbelts & locking doors to bringing guns into a Sanctuary need more of the Holy Spirit!! Because there is a big difference! I don’t know, perhaps it’s because I was raised to reverence God’s house that I cannot believe we should ever fear going to church to the point that we need to carry guns with us!
Check out the testimony of Phodidas Ndamayugabe (misspelled his name) at GYC. This sounds like something straight out of the Old Testament. He only trusted in Jesus
Yet David did used a sword......as well as countless faithful through the Bible including the prophet Samuel who "...hewed Agag to pieces before the Lord..." He didnt cut him to pieces using sharp language it was done with a weapon. Defending against evil is just common sense and our God is a God of sense and reason. IS 1:18
Elijah killed the prophets of Baal, too, but that was before Jesus came along and said that HE would have mercy and not sacrifice. Translation: He prefers that a child of God BE KILLED rather than KILL someone else. That way the child of God gets to be like the thief on the cross (with him in paradise that very day) instead of cutting off another person's chance to repent.
God doesn’t want us to even commit murder that’s one of the commandments. If I have to die being who am I as a Christian so be it. I will die believing in the holy lord Jesus Christ 🙏🏻
That's right God doesn't want us to commit murder. So why do SDA'S support abortion and actually practice it too ? They will perform abortions for any reason at the SDA hospital in Loma Linda CA and their other hospitals. What about the commandment thou shall not kill' ? Jeremiah 1:5 God said I knew you when I formed you in the womb and sanctified thee . God created those babies and SDA doctors and nurses murder them for money . SDA is the only religious group that practice this wickedness . Very strange for a people that claim to obey the 10 commandments !
If that "Cap" gets put on during this year, it takes us into the LOUD CRY, to be followed by the 7 Last Plagues, and then the Glorious Appearing of our Lord. No 🔫 can keep me safe at Church. Only God can.
Is it true that there was a British combat unit in the WW 2, whose commanding officer required his men to read Psalm 91 daily, committing it to memory. I have heard that it was the only combat unit that suffered no casualties during the war.
I am a Seventh Say Adventist, have a concealed carry permit and wrestle with this issue all the time. I feel I am weak for not trusting my safety to God, but then I wonder if He might be using me if I had to protect someone else. As far as carrying in church, that's something that I cannot yet do. It just feel wrong, even if it's not.

Trust in God or rely on weapons for our safety against our enemies? Ezra 8: 21-23 - NKJV "21 Then I proclaimed a fast there at the river of Ahava, that *we might humble ourselves before our God, to seek from Him the right way for us* and our little ones and all our possessions. 22 *For I was ashamed to request of the king an escort of soldiers and horsemen to help us against the enemy* on the road, because we had spoken to the king, saying, *“The hand of our God is upon all those for good who seek Him,* but His power and His wrath are against all those who forsake Him.” 23 So we fasted and entreated our God for this, and *He answered our prayer."*

Jesus never even suggested that His disciples were going to "overcome the Roman army with two swords," but that a weapon was needed to protect themselves from common criminals. For we all are required to co-labor with our Creator is everything. So while we trust in Jesus, we also must do our part.
thank you pastor doug… for once again... taking the high road. our church has a member that is also a police officer. I HOPE HE CONCEAL CARRIES. I'm assuming he would.
If killing in self-defense and in defense of your family and community is sin, then why did the Holy Spirit POSSESS Samson to kill thousands? Can the Holy Spirit possess someone to sin??? Why did God say David was "After His own heart" when David killed so many people in his life? Why does the Lord command to KILL the murderer? Why does the apostle Paul in Romans 13 call the magistrate a "Servant of God, who carries the sword to punish those who do evil"? Away with pacifism!!! The modern Church is raising up coward, effeminate and soft "men"!! Pacifism is diabolical and non-biblical!!
Ma Mor~ Why would God consider David a man after God’s own heart when in time, he was guilty of murder? The beginning of the answer starts in 1 Samuel 13:1-18 where we discover that Saul had violated God’s commandment doing as his own heart desired. A battle with the Philistines was about to occur, and Saul wanted the blessing of the God upon his troops. The prophet Samuel did not come at the expected time, so Saul decided to present a burnt offering to the Lord on his own rather than wait for the prophet. When the prophet arrived, Samuel asked Saul, “What have you done?” In verse 12 we discover that Saul told the prophet Samuel that he had “forced himself” to offer a burnt offering. It was a lie. Saul had purposefully decided to take that action of offering a sacrifice that was to be done only by the priests. . . . therefore I said, “Now the Philistines will come down against me at Gilgal, and I have not asked the favor of the LORD.” So I forced myself and offered the burnt offering. (NASB) 1 Samuel 13:12 As a result, the prophet Samuel told him that his kingdom would eventually be removed from him. He was a self-willed individual who ignored God’s wishes. He was not a man after God’s own heart. That is, Saul did not desire to please God by obeying Him. Samuel said to Saul, “You have acted foolishly; you have not kept the commandment of the LORD your God, which He commanded you, for now the LORD would have established your kingdom over Israel forever. But now your kingdom shall not endure. The LORD has sought out for Himself a man after His own heart, and the LORD has appointed him as ruler over His people, because you have not kept what the LORD commanded you.” (NASB) 1 Samuel 13:13-14 So Samuel added that God was looking for a man after His own heart, and he would be the new ruler over Israel. Saul’s days as king over Israel were to come to an end. Who had God selected to be the next ruler? The name of the man was David. God looks at a man’s heart and not at the outward appearance. God is not fooled by our actions or words. God had looked at Saul’s heart and rejected him. God had looked at David’s heart and chosen him. But the LORD said to Samuel, “Do not look at his appearance or at the height of his stature, because I have rejected him; for God sees not as man sees, for man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.” (NASB) 1 Samuel 16:7 Some time later God sent Samuel to Jesse the Bethlehemite to find the next king from among his sons. Now the LORD said to Samuel, “How long will you grieve over Saul, since I have rejected him from being king over Israel? Fill your horn with oil and go; I will send you to Jesse the Bethlehemite, for I have selected a king for Myself among his sons.” (NASB) 1 Samuel 16:1 When Samuel arrived, he was impressed with several of the sons of Jesse. But God did not want them. Finally, God directed him to select the youngest son, David. Thus Jesse made seven of his sons pass before Samuel. But Samuel said to Jesse, “The LORD has not chosen these.” And Samuel said to Jesse, “Are these all the children?” And he said, “There remains yet the youngest, and behold, he is tending the sheep.” Then Samuel said to Jesse, “Send and bring him; for we will not sit down until he comes here.” So he sent and brought him in. Now he was ruddy, with beautiful eyes and a handsome appearance. And the LORD said, “Arise, anoint him; for this is he.” Then Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the midst of his brothers; and the Spirit of the LORD came mightily upon David from that day forward. And Samuel arose and went to Ramah. (NASB) 1 Samuel 16:10-13 Conclusion: God told Samuel that He was looking for a man after His own heart. Later Samuel was directed to select David to be the next king. This means that David was a “man after God’s own heart.” Many of the Psalms were written by David. They reveal that David did have a passion for God. David wanted to know God. The first part of Psalm 42 makes this obvious, As the deer pants for the water brooks, So my soul pants for You, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God; When shall I come and appear before God? (NASB) Ps. 42:1-2 Psalm 32 reveals David’s repentance and sorrow over his sin. David was a man who grieved over his sin and longed to know God with a deep passion. David was a man who desired to be holy and to be like God. He was a man after God’s own heart because these are the things that God desires for us. Shalom
I listened through and I didn't hear Pastor Doug saying we must use guns in church. If anything he spoke about the Bible as a shield and two- edged sword.
I'm astonished by what I'm hearing Doug saying about "church security and defend ourselves" . I can hardly believe the perspective added to the word of God 😮
@markwhite6981 I see that you have not read the 16th Bible Book. I will leave you to read it, with the Holy Spirit's invitation as you read... ... for He will lead you into all truth (John 14 verses 16 & 17; John 16 verse 13)
@@ricardoleslie9811 john 14:16+ applies more to you. If you are for guns conversion to Christ is urgently needed. Are you for guns or against guns at the individual level? That's where the mind troubles begin for many PROFESSED christians
Hey did Pastor Batchelor preach anything on The Synagogue Shooting in Pittsburgh, that left 11 people Dead on The Sabbath? That should us made every Seventh Day Adventist's & Seventh Day Baptists alert after that transpired.
Being armed in these last days is just plain wise. David didn’t go against Goliath empty handed and the Lord was with him. A weapon doesn’t necessarily mean a lack of faith, it is just a practical step. The commandment is properly translated do not murder, not do not kill. Ecc 3:3 tells us there is a time and purpose for everything, this includes a time to make war and to kill. The strong man doesn’t allow his house to be plundered. Remember the thief comes both to steal and to kill(John 10:10)
I know some hot tempered members of the SDA church that I attend and those within the conference that I would not trust to carry a gun in the church. The way people are treated by those in power is bad enough, give them a gun and the lack of restraint towards taming the tongue will increase and violence is the next step. If we have the "shield of faith" we need not a firearm or sword, etc.
@@justingammon1163 Yes, it's true, guns are necessary. I know a side of "living by the sword" that I wish I had not experienced as loved ones became reckless and harmed themselves. One playing russian roulette with a pistol is blind, one with a pump shotgun and bottle of whiskey blew his head off and I woke up to my husband holding a shotgun to my face...so I have no guns in my house and have relied upon prayer. God has a multitude of ways to defend His children that benefit everyone involved. I will defend the Constitution and preach peace through prayer.
While on my laptop I was lead from my study of the great controversy book to start reading Maranatha. While studying Maranatha I was lead to pull up TH-cam on my TV Roku and played this sermon while still reading you mention the Maranatha book! Brother Doug Batchelor, is there a way I can email or speak with you?
@Michael Heathman Have you read this book? If so, please could you outline the demonic cultic sections so that I can be as well informed as you are. Otherwise, please pray that the Lord will remove the scales that the enemy has placed over your eyes.
@Michael Heathman The mere fact that you are so angry and bitter telling everyone about being judgemental and yet judging and pronouncing judgement on others reflects the issues you have. You are angry and aggressive, hardly the Christ- like character you appear to claim others are lacking. Look to the Word and the mirror will reflect what needs to be sorted out in your life and then once the Lord has had His way, you will no longer be used by the enemy. May God bless you as you fight your personal battles and strive to be part of God's kingdom as we are all striving to be.
Michael Heathman I’m going to guarantee you that you won’t make it with your attitude. Don’t know what your issue is but you need to take your negativity elsewhere. I’m a proud SDA and nobody will ever change that. Not even the trolls.
Many will agree,a boat floats, But then will battle each other why it floats. and a boat can sink,as well as people If they only wonder why. Eph:5---Eph:6 I love. Expose evil---Protection against evil. Along with the Bible I also love The Strong's Exhaustive Concordance.
Mass murder attacks on houses of worship are becoming more and more frequent. "I don't think there is a moral dilemma to having... armed security at religious gatherings... justice and protection does not stop happening once you enter the church. It's still a domain of common sense. Where there is times of increased danger then you might need increased security. I trust in the Lord,.. but we also take practical measures here that we don't advertise. Let's just call it 'Don't Ask Don't Tell.' I don't want anyone living in fear." Pastor Batchelor When David was running from King Saul he went to a church to acquire the sword of Goliath for protection, along with holy bread to eat. You can read about this event in the 21st chapter of 1 Samuel. More lethal weapons in the church: "You Levites, form a bodyguard around the king and keep your weapons in hand. Kill anyone who tries to enter the Temple. Stay with the king wherever he goes." 2 Chronicles 23:7 Evil Joab was executed inside the church: King Solomon gave the command, “...Kill him there beside the altar and bury him. This will remove the guilt of Joab’s senseless murders from me and from my father’s family." 1 Kings 2:31
We defend ourselves against evil all the time. We are to hate evil. So defending ourselves against evil is not a sin. With the evil in this world, shooting up churches, I see no wrong in having weapons or precautions in the church. If it’s a free gun zone, it becomes a target to satans evil workers.
@@bobbic3027 we are talking about 2 different kinds of defence here. One is spiritual, the other physical. God hates sin, not the sinner, and so must we. I defend myself against evil temptations through prayer and depending on God. I don't trust to myself to be able to stand against temptations. The same should apply to our physical safety. Take precautions with the way you eat, what you choose to watch or read, by asking for leading in your life. Don't think that using a gun to end someone's life you are doing God's will. Christians are not called to that. Leave that work into Cesar, do that which God has called you to do: to love others, even those who hate you.
Gustavo Ontiveros in the Old Testament there are several times when God called on the army of Israel to the slaughter the wicked. He is a God of justice. Would it be his will that a house of worship turn into a slaughterhouse?
@@KG33573 I'm sure that killings in the church would make God sad, like many things. Sometimes these things come from God Himself, see Ezekiel chapters 8 and 9. Now, the old covenant had laws that those in the new covenant aren't to follow and Jesus came to show us a different way that God wanted us to relate to reach other in. I think Jesus said it best: “You have heard the law that says the punishment must match the injury: ‘An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth.’ But I say, do not resist an evil person! If someone slaps you on the right cheek, offer the other cheek also. “You have heard the law that says, ‘Love your neighbor’ and hate your enemy. But I say, love your enemies! Pray for those who persecute you! In that way, you will be acting as true children of your Father in heaven. For he gives his sunlight to both the evil and the good, and he sends rain on the just and the unjust alike. Matthew 5:38-39, 43-45 NLT. So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other. John 13:34 NLT
The Roots of America's Revolutionary War: While it is undetermined just when the colonists began having issues with their English masters, the causes of dissension between England and her 13 American colonies were many. Thomas Jefferson listed some of them in the Declaration of Independence. We can go back to at least the Sugar Act of 1764 which established taxes on not only sugar but a host of other goods. After that came the Stamp Act (more taxes), the Quartering Act, (requiring colonists to house and feed British troops), and a host of other burdensome taxes. For this, the colonials resisted, and there were demonstrations, one of the most famous being the Boston Tea Party. Yet, none were enough to push the colonists to open rebellion. Then, on April 18, 1775, British General Thomas Gage sent 700 troops to Concord, Massachusetts. On the dawn of the 19th, 70 average men, farmers, clerks, storekeepers, and the like stood fast and faced the might of the British army at Lexington Green. History does not record who fired the first shot, the one Ralph Waldo Emerson called 'the shot heard round the world,' but we know it lead to the first time in history in which the British army was defeated by common citizens. And what sin, what transgression did the British commit to incur this armed conflict? They had come for their firearms, powder, and shot. Their own government was trying to disarm them. The first battles of the Revolutionary War were fought over gun control. So let this be a lesson to all that follows - true patriots will never allow themselves to be disarmed, for to do so is tantamount to a loss of security, freedom, and indeed would lead to slavery, as history has witnessed many times. Armed man/women = Citizen Unarmed man/women = Subject Disarmed man/women = Slave

I know. Some of mine have disappeared. I guess I'm just not well-aligned with the teachings of the World Church Organization. That's good, because it's a narrow way that leads to eternal life, "and few there be that find it." But the broad way is the one that leads to destruction, many enter into it and occupy it. That's my paraphrasing. Besides, next they'd be wanting me to support the One World Order if I was one of them.
Becky in Christ..., which person would you say was in violation of your question? Would it be the same deranged person shooting Christians to death, or the man who shot the shooter? Do you think because your a Christian that you must be an easy target for killers who come into your sanctuary to shoot you? Do you think it's a sin to defend yourself, or your family or friends? Becky there are people who have been carrying weapons into churches long before this day and age. Yes, it's okay to have good men with weapons in your church. What would the people in a church do if a man came into a church and started to just mercilessly beat a woman? Would you jump up and try to stop him? What if you had to pound on him, with your fist or even with a cross. Would you be using weapons to save her life? How about if a man with a gun came in and began shooting, and no one did anything? What do you do say "Hey Martha, see you in heaven in a few minutes"! "Yeah so long Jack, hope I'm up there". How about "Bye kids,. Guess we won't be having that birthday party now, see ya!" Some people imagine because your a Christian you must be a doormat for evil people. If that is what is supposed to be, well, your going no matter what so why worry about it. In fact, why worry about someone having a firearm or weapon in church? How does it affect you? Would you be scared of him or the killer?
southtown j .. First, why do you think a Christian is an “easy target”? Secondly, you do not know me nor what I’ve faced in life!! I have had guns at my head & knives at my throat and by the GOODNESS OF GOD ALMIGHTY ALONE I am still here! God is Faithful and He has promised to watch over me. If I should die by the act of someone evil it will not be because evil was stronger than my angel that God sent to watch over me..nor will my God say to me I should have protected myself! We both know that can never be! Evil can never overcome Gods Goodness nor His will. Yes I believe there is a time and place we are to use common sense to protect our selves and others( seatbelts, locks, locked restraints on roller coasters..) but not in His house! No one needs to bring a gun to my house either 🙌
@@sisterbecky411 Becky now you say your going to trust your guardian angel? Do me a favor and tell me if you believe the man with the concealed weapon who shot down the killer who invaded your sanctuary had a guardian angel? How about the man who did the shooting, did he have a guardian angel? And how about the dead man lying on the floor with bullets holes in his body? Was he protected by as guardian angel? I know a man who told me once that he saw and angel who appeared to him? I was amazed at this guy and as I stood there looking at him, I just had to ask him! Who's angel was it? Was it satan's or God's? The poor man stared at me throughout the whole service and after he came and said, "Who's angel do you think it was?" Of course I had no idea. Number one I'd never seen an angel before and number Two there were two kinds of angels? I finally told the guy, Well. he was either a good angel or and angel....why did he appear to you did he say? The guy had no idea and neither did I. In the end it boiled to who I put my faith into. And that would. Be Jesus Christ not an angel. Oh I know their there, but I haven't seen any! How about you?
southtown j .. Do you not know that God has promised to give His angels charge over us(Ps. 91:11) and that we will judge Angels (1Cor.6:3) Yes there are two host of angels, Satans & Gods but nothing or no one can touch a child of Gods without God first giving permission (Job 1:1-12) or us giving place to them ( Eph.4:27) But please know that my Faith is in Jesus Christ alone. I do not presume to know why many things happen to Christians but I know God has promised that He will watch over me & all those that are called to be joint aires with Christ.( Rom.8:28)
I don't like the fact that he said that it was okay to, "Not just trust the Lord" in reference to the story. Also, don't ask don't tell? That may have been a joke, however that is a serious comment. Check 8:50
Listen to the rest of his message. Trusting in God doesnt mean you throw practicality to the wind. Do you sleep with the front door unlocked? When you're driving, do you stop at stop signs? The point is, practicality on this Earth doesn't mean you're not faithful. Don't be so quick to be outraged before you give a modicum of thought to the topic.
If you think we should all leave it to God to protect us then get rid of the alarm system, the fire extinguishers, the sprinkler system, and don't call the police (men with guns) either. Stop paying for building insurance too.
This is why I am a Seventh Day Adventist. Common sense reigns in the Word of God. Thank you Pastor Batchelor

@Charisma 101 False. Repent you are bearing false witness and is in danger of hell fire.

For the past month or more the Lord has been confirming to me over and over and over again that He is my refuge and protection. And for me to not fear the chaos, armies, fire, and calamity around me, because He is my shield. To not fear man, because He is God and is greater than man.
This is the last generation, I believe where Jesus will return 🙏
I ask for prayer from those who will, please pray that the Lord help me to see and KNOW what it is to do that I’m lacking. Thank you and God Bless 🙏
I refuse to let this confuse me..I have ask Jesus Himself to guide me because He is my sure confidence of the way the truth and the light. I love but can’t trust man with my soul!

We have holy angels who can smack down anyone who intends harm to us
No gun can beat that!
True, but David didn't throw an angel at goliath
“The angel of the Lord encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them.”
Psalms 34:7
I know quite some experiences where God intervened for His children that do not carry weapons.
Lazy, no practicality is where that idea stems from.
One of her prophecies claim we will have our spiritual equipment taken away. So best to work on learning and knowing the Bible the best we can now. 😁👍

HELP!

Good sermon. Thanks Pastor.
Our church has a number of armed deacons and Elders at every service. If you come to us with evil intentions, you are not leaving.
Well said
This day and age is no different than any before it.
If My kingdom were of this world, My servants would fight, so that I should not be delivered to the Jews; but now My kingdom is not from here.”
Matt26:52 ..Then said Jesus unto him, Put up again thy sword into his place: for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword.
“ Then said Jesus unto him, Put up again thy sword into his place: for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword” ( Matt.26:52)
If my church believes it’s up to congregation to protect them selves or worse yet, hired guns, then I’m gonna find myself another church and pray for those that trust in man..
I firmly believe this is a heart issue.. and once again God is revealing the hearts of His people..
I pray that your heart is fully ready and trusting in the Lord. When distress comes to your life, do not show your human side as many will be watching your examples and your comment here may stand as a reminder to you.
Max JNB .. Amen! Oh the stories I could tell you... to God be ALL THE GLORY!
Max JNB .. sir you do know when your time comes to die NOTHING will prevent it, right?
Good for you for making the right choice and having the gumption to put it on youtube!

Check out the testimony of Phodidas Ndamayugabe (misspelled his name) at GYC. This sounds like something straight out of the Old Testament. He only trusted in Jesus
Yet David did used a sword......as well as countless faithful through the Bible including the prophet Samuel who "...hewed Agag to pieces before the Lord..."
He didnt cut him to pieces using sharp language it was done with a weapon.

That being said, know your state's self-defense laws. Educate yourself on the legal and moral responsibility to stop a lethal threat. Learn where not to be to prevent being forced to defend yourself or others. Study how to deescalate various high-stress situations for the benefit of all involved.

Jesus never even suggested that His disciples were going to "overcome the Roman army with two swords," but that a weapon was needed to protect themselves from common criminals. For we all are required to co-labor with our Creator is everything. So while we trust in Jesus, we also must do our part.

Bible says NOT to Kill (murder) .& it says a lot about we must defend ourselves and in those cases .. we eliminate the terrorist. .
(NASB) 1 Samuel 13:12
As a result, the prophet Samuel told him that his kingdom would eventually be removed from him.
The LORD has sought out for Himself a man after His own heart, and the LORD has appointed him as ruler over His people, because you have not kept what the LORD commanded you.” (NASB) 1 Samuel 13:13-14
So Samuel added that God was looking for a man after His own heart, and he would be the new ruler over Israel.
But the LORD said to Samuel, “Do not look at his appearance or at the height of his stature, because I have rejected him; for God sees not as man sees, for man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.” (NASB) 1 Samuel 16:7
Some time later God sent Samuel to Jesse the Bethlehemite to find the next king from among his sons.
Now the LORD said to Samuel, “How long will you grieve over Saul, since I have rejected him from being king over Israel? Fill your horn with oil and go; I will send you to Jesse the Bethlehemite, for I have selected a king for Myself among his sons.” (NASB) 1 Samuel 16:1
When Samuel arrived, he was impressed with several of the sons of Jesse.
(NASB) 1 Samuel 16:10-13
Conclusion:
God told Samuel that He was looking for a man after His own heart. Later Samuel was directed to select David to be the next king. This means that David was a “man after God’s own heart.” Many of the Psalms were written by David. They reveal that David did have a passion for God. David wanted to know God. The first part of Psalm 42 makes this obvious,
As the deer pants for the water brooks, So my soul pants for You, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God; When shall I come and appear before God? (NASB) Ps. 42:1-2
Psalm 32 reveals David’s repentance and sorrow over his sin. David was a man who grieved over his sin and longed to know God with a deep passion. David was a man who desired to be holy and to be like God. He was a man after God’s own heart because these are the things that God desires for us. Shalom

Tell that to the church in Texas.

@Michael Heathman The mere fact that you are so angry and bitter telling everyone about being judgemental and yet judging and pronouncing judgement on others reflects the issues you have.
Let's just call it 'Don't Ask Don't Tell.' I don't want anyone living in fear." Pastor Batchelor
When David was running from King Saul he went to a church to acquire the sword of Goliath for protection, along with holy bread to eat. You can read about this event in the 21st chapter of 1 Samuel.
More lethal weapons in the church:
"You Levites, form a bodyguard around the king and keep your weapons in hand. Kill anyone who tries to enter the Temple. Stay with the king wherever he goes." 2 Chronicles 23:7
Evil Joab was executed inside the church:
King Solomon gave the command, “...Kill him there beside the altar and bury him. This will remove the guilt of Joab’s senseless murders from me and from my father’s family." 1 Kings 2:31
GOD sent His armies out to defend HIS people. So defend Gods people is what I believe God believes.

The Roots of America's Revolutionary War:
While it is undetermined just when the colonists began having issues with their English masters, the causes of dissension between England and her 13 American colonies were many.
Armed man/women = Citizen
Unarmed man/women = Subject
Disarmed man/women = Slave
He gives the holy truth as it is written and he adds nothing or take from its lines.

Several have disappeared!
Dear Heavenly Father please open our eyes and change the intentions of our hearts and minds to match Your will. In Jesus Christ name I pray. AMEN!
This is why we need to avoid the internet and social media that can be censored.
@@lewis2553 I agree. God bless you and your family in the name of Jesus Christ.
"There is a time for war!"
southtown j .. but the sanctuary of the church is not the battlefield!
I have had guns at my head & knives at my throat and by the GOODNESS OF GOD
ALMIGHTY ALONE I am still here!
