Here we go, a video on my boy the Divine Blade of Wind himself! Arios is a pretty slick character. Despite not being a major player compared to others in the Crossbell arc, the man is still a prominent figure in the growth of the SSS. I'm looking forward to seeing more of him as the story progresses! Hope you enjoy this one, and let's chill with some more Trails lore!
The way of presentation of this series is the best, just finished the crosbell saga on february and boy it has the best story across all the games, and can't imagine a better presentation of a story by any kind of media, i really liked the foreshadowing on trails of cold steel stories and even how it ends the first two, but how you present the story around that is important, and falcom nailed it.
I was stunning when I realize Arios was behind of Crois Plan and take Kea. He is a good character and well built. You appreciate much more Arios's background in retrospective when you take some detail during the zero and Aono events. I am so happy for ending those game even before of playing Sora SC and TC; I don't regret.
It's beautiful really, he hasn't lost his sense of self despite the path he's chosen. If anything that must burden him more, as all these people in Crossbell are lauding him as this paragon of justice, but deep down he knows it's not true. Can you imagine people praising you for being something that you're not constantly, and realising that it's all a lie? That could easily break someone mentally.
I don't know if I'll do one on another main character for a while, but maybe once the new Trails game is out, and I've managed to play it, that could be on the horizon! :)
Mate, more content!? Thank you so much for sharing your hard work and passion projects with us! :D also as a way of coping with lockdown and working from home I've been buying Kiseki nendoroids and other memorabilia...to the point I'm sure I'm now putting in more effort trying to find merch than actually working. I have no regrets ;) hope you and yours are well and safe man ::)
Thank you for your support as always my man! :) I've also been buying a heck of a lot of Trails merch lately, I need to bring back the unboxing videos when some of the items arrive!
Another great lore video from TKN! I find myself disliking Arios very much after what happens in the Crossbell arc. I mentioned it before in an episode of the podcast, but I almost see him as a villain for how he sells out. Like, I get wanting to protect Crossbell and his daughter but, he kinda just locks her up in Orchis Tower and then goes along with an authoritarian plan, which I feel is not only a betrayal of the SSS, but of what the Bracer Guild stands for. It bugs me because I love the Bracer Guild and how they always fight for what is right, even if some of them have a bit of an attitude (Agate!). Obviously that gives some depth to the character and some complexity to the overall storyline, but I still feel a bit betrayed and I'm going to have to make a conscious effort to give Arios a second chance in the future. 10/10!
Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment, Blue! I was definitely taken aback when I realised Arios's betrayal, but he had witnessed the barriers around Crossbell, and he felt that there was no way to overcome them. Obviously he's been grief stricken with his wife's death, seeing that as his fault, not to mention Guy's and Shizuku's sight. And now he's forcing a child in KeA to a life of misery for Crossbell's benefit. And you can see he hates it, he hates everything that he's doing, but he believes that it's the only way the State can find true freedom. I think many people can relate to a character who feels so much desperation that they are willing to go to drastic measures in order to solve the issue. On top of that, he's recognised by everyone in Crossbell as this 'hero', the Bracer Guild constantly bombards him with requests to become an S rank bracer. They all see him as something that he knows he's not, and that must really weigh down on him. But I think with Lloyd and the SSS he saw there was another path that he could never find, and he takes it on himself to test and push the group forward over their journey. There's no doubt his path was the wrong one, but I can totally understand it, and I'm happy that he's found some redemption. I'm looking forward to seeing his role in the future games.
I want Shizuku to become the final Trails protagonist. The one who was carried by everyone to finally take that final step and fix the world for good. That would make me tear up with pride.
Hello mate, first of all thank you for all the content you provide. I love especially, your character rundown series, I really hope you will portrait as many people as you can. Arios is still one of my favourite male characters in the series, even with my "conflicting passion" for him in Ao. To be honest, only because of him in Zero, I was confident to leave my beloved child under his guard after IBC raid, to pursue main culprit in the game. Really fleshed out characters are in Crossbell duology I have to say. Btw. You really should consider patronite or something similar, as quality of your content deserves it. Thanks to this series of videos you became my favourite Kiseki youtuber.
Thank you for taking the time to support and watch the content my man! It's also really humbling that you would consider my content as worthy of a patron, but I probably won't set one up for a couple of reasons that I might answer in the future. If you have the funds to spare for a Trails TH-camr, just throw it Falcom's way. :)
@@TheKisekiNut Ok then, it's your choice - still I hope your ongoing passion will last as long, as Kondo's will to make Kiseki saga. Btw. I always support Falcom, most of the games I buy on more than one platform (PS3, PS4, Steam for Erebonia, PS4, PSP for Crossbell (just made platinum in Zero Kai few days ago), and Steam and GOG for Liberl arc) and often in my both psn accounts (Japanese and UK). I just love those games for years already, and it's my favourite jrpg and developer of all time (and I'm nearly 40yrs old guy, who plays jrpgs since 1996). Your channel deserves much more attention. About quality, I like that you are talking slower, so when I show your videos to my friend, who isn't super deep into Kiseki lore, and he also isn't English native speaker, can understand all what you're saying. Please continue with this character miniseries, as it's something important for many - I personally just enjoy to listen all those informations even knowing it, but for people like my friend, who refuses to play Liberl arc until it comes to ps4 it's critical and I can tell you already, that your video for Renne make my friend to play on my pc first trilogy, as he was curious about it and wanted to experience it himself. @@giliathandtio Don't worry mate. Unless something unforeseen happens which forces me to stop making content, I'm here for the long haul! It's all worth it if it helps people like yourself and your mate. This channel was always made as a way to not only provide information for Trails fans, but also to bring more people into the series. "However, they have the power necessary. In order for me to bring about the change that I seek...I'll gladly go along with this little fantasy of theirs. Even if I have to spit in the face of Aidios Herself to do it."
Great video as always! Arios is such a well written character and I'm looking forward to seeing more of him? Can anyone tell me if he appears in CS4 or not? I'm also kind of wondering just how strong he is. Renne said in zero no kiseki that he could be as strong as Loewe. I'm wondering if he would be able to beat Aurelia in a fight. I would love to somehow see a massive tournament arc in the trails series with all the strongest characters matched up against each other. After all we still don't know just how strong Cassius and Ein are.
Thanks for watching mate! I think he's a great character myself, a guy who's lost hope for the State, and only believes a miracle can save it. I'll say now (SPOILER) He's not in CS4 from what I can see so far, but he will be in Hajimari. As for his strength, he is definitely up there, but Loewe has been stated as being stronger than Bo staff Cassius (in an interview by Kondo, don't know when). Loewe was the only enforcer that Arianrhod admitted could potentially surpass her, and the Steel Maiden is pretty much the strongest in the series as far as I'm concerned. Arios would definitely come below Cassius, he admits himself that he is not on the man's level.
@@TheKisekiNut wow, really? Loewe has been confirmed stronger than Cassius? I seriously did not expect that. Since he was always hyped up troughout the Liberl arc I naturally assumed he was stronger than Loewe. (Slight sky sc and the 3rd spoilers) Also his boss fight in the 3rd was way harder than Loewe's boss fight in sc. But I guess we never really saw Loewe fight at full strength
@@ceettopotat He's been confirmed as stronger than Bo staff Cassius, but weaker than Sword Cassius. That's why Cassius himself is a bit of an enigma in the series, as Zin has stated before that Cassius never lost his ability when transitioning to the staff, but you could argue since he's not able to use his Eight Leaves techniques, he's naturally going to be weaker with the staff. That's the issue, power scaling is very difficult in this series, and though I'd like to do a video on it someday, it'll be filled with speculation. I would need to finish CS4 at least before I consider taking it on.
Much respect for all you do KisekiNut. But to say that Arianhrod is the strongest in the series is just nuts. Mcburn final transformation in cold steel 4 wich is is real form is way above arianhrod its not even close. Also she stated that Loewe could surpass her only has a swordsman not as a fighter in general.
I'm STILL upset about it! I mentioned in our final Ao episode of the Kiseki Cast how I kind of see him as a villain, and i can only hope that we see a Richard-esque redemption for him because, while I don't particularly like Arios right now, I'm willing to see where his story and character go!
You more or less see Arios as a rival of the SSS from the Start, the more surprising betreyal was to me the one of that red suit blond hair guy who was considered as a helper, even in the toughest situations =)
My issue with Arios is that he faces no consequences for his actions. Richard was thrown in prison for the stuff he pulled in Liberl but Arios gets off clean despite him participating in child trafficking and attempted murder of a police officer...that's not even counting his involvement in the conspiracy. I wonder why Grmwood or Dieter didn't bother snitching on him. I I was at the Bracer Guild I would strip him of his rank and disband him
I was really unsatisfied with Arios's explanations and justifications at the end of the series, and how it felt like he didn't try his best to win. I still have many doubts and questions about pretty much all the villains except for Bell, but in hindsight I think I understand Arios. I think his guilt and shame was so strong at that time that he was simply unable to speak frankly with Lloyd. The way he talked to Shizuku at the time after Kea's transformation kind of showed that not only was he fine with being the villain of the situation, but he in fact wanted to lose, as if he didn't believe in the cause anymore. But I was disappointed in that he wasn't being honest with Lloyd. This made that part feel very disappointing. I wanted a better closure, and there must have been a better closure off screen, or otherwise I don't think Lloyd would have trusted Arios to get back into Kea's life.
Yeah I think he was so overcome with guilt that he wanted to completely burn the bridge, hence why he tried to falsely confess to killing guy. He knew Lloyd wouldn’t believe it though
He probably thought that coming clean with Lloyd right off the bat would be too much for the rookie detective to take. Arios himself is battle hardened and mentally strong, but he still struggles to hold all of these burdens. I think he believes that if he had told Lloyd earlier, it might of broke the man. So he tests him, he challenges the SSS and Lloyd especially to grow and find their own ideal. I believe that come the incident at the Mirror Castle, he had decided that Lloyd was finally ready to hear the truth. In terms of hiding Lawyer Ian's involvement in the final battle, I think it's just his guilt taking over. He firmly believed that HE was responsible for Guy's death, he didn't see anyone else at fault even with Grimwood firing the gun. You can see unlike many, Arios never loses his sense of justice, or his sense of self. He's honourable as an individual, so it pains him to partake in something like the Azure-Zero Project, and maybe he just doesn't want Shizuku to see her father stoop so low, though of course she's well aware of the situation. I feel really bad for the man, he believes that nothing can save Crossbell, and he's willing to go against his ideals to find this 'miracle', it's a tale of desperation.
@@TheKisekiNut I think Arios and Guy had different visions for dealing with evil. Arios had an unusually pessimistic outlook, thinking that the greater power always win, no matter which side is just, while Guy was the ultimate optimist, thinking that it was because the good doubted themselves too much that evil was allowed to win. Trails of Azure is kind of like a battle between those two solutions. You can either have the absolute power, which no human can oppose, and use that power for good, or you grant everybody freedom and try to instill courage so that the good can fight evil and prevail naturally. Maybe when Arios realized that it was only him and him alone that had stood in the way, preventing Lloyd from saving Kea and foiling the plan, he realized that Guy may have been right after all. By Lloyd winning it meant that Crossbell (in some ways) had to be sacrificed, but the idea is that by spreading Guy's ideals to more and more ppl, eventually they will succeed both at getting independent and getting rid of the domestic corruption.
@The Kiseki Nut i want you to later on or eventually due a trails explanation of the "self-rightous" mayor of crossbell and that fat lawyer guy. Cause i really want to understand why did they go that far for this project during the events of zero and azure.
I kind of mentioned Ian's reason for it in this video, in that his family was killed by the proxy war between Erebonia and Calvard, the same incident which killed Lloyd's and Towa's parents. He basically became vengeful after that. I don't think Crois lost anyone, but it hurt him to see the state of Crossbell. He could see firsthand the issues it faced being the IBC president, and he wanted a way out of it. Granted he and Ian went down the wrong path, but I understand their reasoning for doing so; they simply wanted a safer Crossbell.
That's the thing though, the SSS pretty much chose this path for Crossbell, as they didn't want to commit KeA to that fate as the Azure Tree. I think it was the right choice! And Arios is just a cool dude, the original 'muh wind' character.
@@TheKisekiNut Sure, but my point was they did exactly what Osborne wanted in the end anyway, so best not underestimate his ability to get exactly what he wants no matter the circumstances or opponent :p
Of course they were. But they knew what they were doing. Rean didn't really play any part in the annexation. He mainly helped fight against the following Calvard invasion, which is why the ppl of Crossbell likes him, and why Rufus in CS3 forced Rean to play the hero, so that the Crossbellian public would accept him, an Erebonian as their new hero that would replace the SSS.
pite9 Screw Rufus the Doofus. In the end, he got humiliated by the fact that despite the fact he wields the “top-tier” Divine Knight, barring Ishmelga, he still got beat by 2 low-tier Divine Knights.
Can't wait to see him in action in CS 4 ! Will there be a spread sheet for next game ? I might have to import it this time I won't be able to wait a year or two...
It remains to be seen if there will be a spreadsheet, it's all on Kitsune (or someone else) to take up the mantle for that. I'm like you though, I don't think I can wait. But I have the Hajimari Collectors edition pre-ordered, so I'm looking forward to that arriving. I'll be doing an unboxing video when it arrives.
I did learn Japanese by myself (I've actually done a video on it like 10 months a go if you're interested), but I'm by no means fluent. I passed the JLPT N4 last July, and finished Wanikani (which I intend to go over again). It's a very rewarding process, especially when you can apply it to these games. I'm using it to an extent while playing CS4 with the overlay.
Man i really feel for the guy. With Crossbell's Geopolitical nature there was no other way than to rely on something drastic and extreme to guarantee her independence. It's why i can't really see Arios and Dieter Crois as villains. Mainly the opposing sides of our protagonists who all of them are fighting for what they believe is best for Crosbell. Fuck Mariabell though, hope she has the same sticky end as her Ouroboros predecessor.
They definitely went down the wrong path, but I can't really blame them. Desperation gives way to drastic solutions, and they just fell in that category.
@@TheKisekiNut Is it the wrong path though? Call me devil's advocate, and i really hate saying this, but wouldn't the needs of the many trump the needs of the few? If all it takes to secure Crossbell's future is the freedom of one little girl; who can judge whether they are right or wrong? Not that i'm saying that Lloyd and the others were wrong either but simply chose a different path
@@NTLuck I mean Crois makes a point that democracy does nothing, and I agree with him to a certain extent as political structure in in Crossbell ensures that nothing passes through the government, and legislation pretty much becomes impossible to pass with all the conflicting interest. That being said, it's not just the sacrifice of KeA which is morally wrong, but the fact that they're willing to forego all due process to just do what they 'assume' is right. Lawyer Ian even admits in the Azure Tree that he intends to forge a world that he 'thinks' everyone wants. And that in itself lacks empathy and forethought. It's an age old issue, does one person make the rules and forge the identity of a nation, or do we leave it to a due process which is inherently slower? I can see the merits and drawbacks for each side, and that's why this game is so beloved for me. It really does make you think.
@@TheKisekiNut True. The kiseki games are much deeper than one thought. And while we in modern times would balk at the idea of one person ruling and forging the identity of a nation on his own preference, remember that's what kings and emperors of old have always done so it's nothing new. The Crossbell arc really is much deeper than any other arc. Sky gives a more fantasy feel that the heroes will always win while Cold Steel gets too convoluted and dramatic some times. Crossbell is like the good balance between them both.
The Kiseki Nut Speaking of, when the time comes, can you do Mariabell in the future? I want to know what makes her a prominent figure in Ouroboros and how she betrayed the people of Crossbell.
Gaius and Alisa are the only ones in class 7 whose mothers are alive. Among the 16 characters in Trails in the Sky 3, Renne and Tita are the only ones with both parents alive. Richard, Zin and Anelace are unknown. In SSS, out of 6 members, only 1 parent in total is known to be alive, Noel's mother. If only Falcom had the same courage to kill off characters on screen.

I doubt Crossbell will get of corruption at all. In fact by being independent I think they will make their situation even worse.
wind bros are the best bros (looking at you Gaius and Arios)
Bah, everything goes Osborne's way. Arios and the SSS were just as responsible as say Rean was for Crossbell's annexation, probably even moreso :p
@@krimzonstriker7534 the guy is the king of 4D chess. Plays them all like a fiddle.
Of course they were. But they knew what they were doing. Rean didn't really play any part in the annexation. He mainly helped fight against the following Calvard invasion, which is why the ppl of Crossbell likes him, and why Rufus in CS3 forced Rean to play the hero, so that the Crossbellian public would accept him, an Erebonian as their new hero that would replace the SSS.
pite9
Screw Rufus the Doofus.
It's being released this year :) expected mid October
It remains to be seen if there will be a spreadsheet, it's all on Kitsune (or someone else) to take up the mantle for that. I'm like you though, I don't think I can wait. But I have the Hajimari Collectors edition pre-ordered, so I'm looking forward to that arriving. I'll be doing an unboxing video when it arrives.
Sadly Arios wasn’t in cold Steel 4.
But he’s in Reverie so there is some good news.
Hey Kiseki Nut, did you learn Japanese yourself in order to fully understand Trials series? Just curious
If i'm not wrong the crossbell airship accident also killed towa's parent.
Indeed it did! Ian's, Lloyd's and Towa's all died on the airship.
Towa is connected everywhere. Must be the Grandmaster.
The Kiseki Nut
Speaking of, when the time comes, can you do Mariabell in the future?
I want to know what makes her a prominent figure in Ouroboros and how she betrayed the people of Crossbell.
i wonder what if when the last encounter at tree Lloyd kill Arios because he is involved in death of his brother..
All of theyre wives are dead m8
Why falcom
Gaius and Alisa are the only ones in class 7 whose mothers are alive. Among the 16 characters in Trails in the Sky 3, Renne and Tita are the only ones with both parents alive. Richard, Zin and Anelace are unknown. In SSS, out of 6 members, only 1 parent in total is known to be alive, Noel's mother.
If only Falcom had the same courage to kill off characters on screen.
@@pite9yeah Randy parents died…well more of his Farther Died…..not gonna say much about but that someone is involved that we know
Wait did Lloyd become sonic the hedgehog 😂😂😂
Nicee
I see Kiseki I like
There's a lot of Kiseki related stuff here buddy, glad to have you aboard! :)
Arios is rean
Let's be honest lloyd cant beat rean how the hell can beat arios the divine blade of wind simply not possible for him
Rean defeated the Divine Blade of wind in Reverie but it doesn’t make sense for Lloyd to be able to do that.
