Valentine’s day is here again, and to get us in the mood let’s revisit the story of our most hopeless romanticist from the Trails Series, Anton!
Anton is a recurring minor character who has appeared in every arc thus far, often found getting in to sticky situations in his quest to find love. More often than not, he will drag the player in to his plans, just so we can watch them crumble like a house of cards.
In all seriousness though, Anton’s one of my favourite minor NPC’s throughout the Trails games. Him and Ricky provide some comic relief many a time, and the quests that involve him are some of the most memorable in my mind.
As a tribute to his never-ending quest to find love, I think it’s only fair we look at his story.

Valentine’s day is almost here, so we’re going for a Valentine’s themed video this time around - let’s look at the journey of Trails most unfortunate romanticist!
Did he get together with Sharon in Trails IV? When I did that quest with him and Sharon I was sure they got together...
I would love to see some of the small little couple storys in a format like this, for example Kitty from Sky and the Fisherduo from Cold Steel.
Thanks for giving Anton what he deserves.
Finally, everyone’s favorite NPC is getting the appreciation he deserves.
I really hope that the Sharon/Anton ship sails and is told in passing in later entries, but I'd definitely be happy with at least a good friendship with the two

The legend of Anton: Trails of burning love
So cool title.
We have Bracer and even fisherman guild. Anton will start lover guild! Just think - Oliver has resources and passion. Characters like Randy, Phantom thief B etc. have drive. Also dating mechanics are already there.
As a poor single shmuck, I relate with Anton on a spiritual level.

He'll get there. I'll be surprised if Falcom don't close out his journey with a happy ending, considering he's been around for so long. I think Anton is here right till the end of Trails.
I really hope he gets together with Sharon in the future games that poor guy really deserves it to find happyness
i really like how Sharon dealt with Anton's confession. I hope he can find his love in Calvard.
I'll be sad if he doesn't get his happy ending by the Series' conclusion.
Ohmygod can you please do this with more npc side characters?? Some of them have very good little stories and I would love to see their whole story condensed in video form.

There is no truer legend in the series, shine on Anton. Hope to see you in Hajimari and beyond
My sole hope for the final Trails arc is that either
A. Anton is the protagonist
B. Anton is one of the Anguis
Anton isn't an Anguis. Ricky is 4th Anguis though.
Seriously. The way the 4th chastises Vita in Star Door 14 for taking interest in Kevin so soon after Loewe is exactly the kind of thing Ricky always says to Anton. Ricky kept getting separated from Anton and specifically goes out of his way not to be present during the sidequest in Trista until Sharon leaves. Anton got lost from Ricky in Bareahard because he saw a rare butterfly. The 4th anguis has ties to an enforcer called the Golden Butterfly. Its implied that the fourth Anguis is active in Crossbell/Erebonia during AO/CS1/CS2 but he's abroad causing trouble in CS3/ 4, games where Ricky is nowhere to be found.
I began suggesting this as a joke but I want it to be real. Like at some point its revealed this whole time they have been travelling the continent it was in an Ouroboros airship and Anton just never knew to question it.

He legit has more character development and growth than many main characters in other JRPGs/video games. And he's so blessed to have best boi Ricky supporting him
CS4 was AMAZING just seeing the courage and lengths he would go. So happy for him and her in the end~

Agree, especially high for text, which will not be read by many players. My fav mini arc is about a couple in Grancel. At beginning of arc wife is angry at her husband that he spends too much time fishing, at the end the roles are switched (she wished to teach him a lesson, started to like the process and became master fisher in fisherman guild, overshadowing her husband). I LOVE the irony and thinking about IRL analogues.

Anton's true love is there all along. Ricky. He's followed trough anton's adventure, more than less become his pillar of emotional support and comfort in each of his rejection. Ricky da MVP and i hope anton will realize that.

I really liked his scene with Sharon helping her resolve to help alisa and the others
This video was even better than I expected. I've been playing the Kiseki games (some of them sadly out of order) and I've started noticing this Anton character showing up in many of them. Since these games are so full of lore and sidequests, sometimes I just read many of what I perceived to be "non-important" bits without truly paying attention; Anton was one of those cases. Sure, I still believe some of his quests are overlong and not that interesting, but it's such a nice surprise that what starts as an annoying NPC ends up having a freaking arc and at this point I want to see him again in the future. What a wonderful franchise.

One of my favourite side characters in the whole series. I certainly wish I had the amount of Courage Anton has when it comes to finding Romance

I'm not sure about watching yet just because I haven't yet finished CS4 (towards the end from the looks of it) and sadly haven't played the third Sky Game but I'm extremely thankful that you decided to cover this amazing character, having followed a majority of his journey when I saw that one scene in CS4 I practically dropped my controller and had to tell someone about this character's story.
Like someone else mentioned it would be amazing to see some of the other characters stories too, getting proper recognition and appreciation for being amazing
I always got a small kick whenever i ran across him durring my cold steel playthroughs. As a side note a longer video detailing the history of all of the awakeners of the divine knights would be very cool, especially rufus albarea.
I don't explore and talk to every NPC, but I'll make an effort to always find Anton and Ricky.

Not gonna lie, I genuinely teared up when Anton and Sharon interacted in Mishelam in CSIV.
I thought they did end up together...am I remembering wrong?

I don't think they were together by the end. Sharon is devoted to the Reinford family and Anton realises that too. From my point of view, Anton going to see Sharon was not out of a desire to be with her romantically, it's simply because he cares for her and he realised she was suffering. Maybe it might evolve in to something else, but I don't think that scene was intended to be a 'Anton punt at love' event, it was something different to show his growth to the player.
@@TheKisekiNut I agree with your assessment of the scene and Anton's intention in it, but I would also argue that, intent aside, it functioned as the opening of a door in their relationship. In fact, I would say that it was the very fact that Anton did not intend it as a romantic attempt that opened that door.
As C said, nothing conclusive just yet, but there was a HINT of a spark that may one day be fanned into a flame if tended with care.

My boy Anton! One of my favorite npc. I Constantly kept find myself saying "Is that Anton‽" everytime I ran into him. He my getaway, when dealing with this story. Nothing else matter to him but Love and honestly I think that goes for every men.
It's crazy how a minor NPC can gain such popularity within a fandom!

Now that I finished playing the official release of Trails From Zero a while back I can fully enjoy this video and the journey that Anton took. I'm happy with how he ends up helping someone else like Sharon and I can see in the future him helping out someone else, maybe someone who actually falls for him herself without him actually trying to be with her, and ends our heroes helping her try to be with HIM instead, making everything come full circle.
I look forward to seeing how Anton's journey really ends but what I DO want to know is how can he travel so much? He doesn't look like the type of guy who has a lot of money yet he's always everywhere. Another mystery in this series to find out. XD

Olivier didn't marry in the first game when he met Sharezard, so i bet in the end Anton will be with Sharon, her responce and whole scene between them was the most romantic of all hist encounters.
Awwww. Anton for Valentine's Day is so appropriate. Love it. Also, I totally ship Anton and Sharon. They move into the Reinford Tower in Roer, Sharon as the dutiful maid of the Reinford Family, Anton doing... whatever his day job is. They have a cute little baby that even warms Irina Reinford's heart as she demands Sharon go on maternity leave so she can secretly play with the baby. Anton, my boy deserves it.
Also the story with Fran is even sadder than the video let's on because Fran is clueless and is talking about loving her sister but had she understood what Anton was getting at, may very well have given him a real shot.
Indeed, Fran was just being an innocent ditz. But I do these videos mostly from the perspective of the character it's focused on, and in Anton's mind she was pining for someone else. Sucks for him!

I can not remember really... was the first quest with anton in Grancel among bracer tasks or was it just randomly found? I just do not remember doing it (I did all quests there including stuff found randomly)
Randomly found, you had to do it to get the final Carnelia book so it was completely optional.

You know, I always thought this arc was going to end with Ricky confessing that Anton belongs with him. It was always confusing in my head why Ricky insisted on following him across the continent.

I haven't played cold steel IV yet(not out on steam) so i hope it won't be the last.
Cold Steel saga ends with the 4th game but the Trails series is still on going (Hajimari no Kiseki and Kuro no Kiseki which is set in Calvard)

I could be wrong but I also remember another sidequest were Anton was hitting on Estelle and Scherazard/Chloe?? during 2 different escort missions and ended with Estelle threatening to beat his ass for doing so. Unless I'm thinking of another npc (it's been a while since I've played FC)
You could be right, but trying to remember 900 hours worth of content and condensing it down is pretty difficult. I dare say there were some parts that I missed, but I kept it firmly fixed on the main events.

Maybe in the future, but he's not on my list of 'to do' characters yet - I like the guy, but his story doesn't interest me as much as others.
CS4 kinda fucked him over royally. All his setup from previous games is out the window as his goal became unachievable with osbornes departure, not to mention his idiotic behavior throughout the game.
He is in future games though so his story might just get restarted from the ground up and there is also the class reunion to look forward to.

While she initially only stayed at Rinon's store in Rolent to wait out Luciola's fog at the behest of Rinon's overbearing mother, she did grow fond of Rinon and stuck around Rolent after the fog was lifted despite initially planning to move to Bose in order to brush up on her storekeeper's skills. When Ellie throws the bouquet during her wedding in the middle of the orbal shutdown phenomenon, Kitty's the one who catches it. (by accident) When Estelle's/Joshua's Moon Door switches from the past to the present and you see Estelle and Joshua boarding the airship for Erebonia, the whole town is present to see them off and Kitty's still there with Rinon, despite it being months since the end of SC.
