Honestly as someone who was lucky enough to have a go at the beta. I think you guys made some great points. Especially when it comes to combat flow. The only other add-on that I only have some worries about is the gacha. The pity system is fine from hoyo but I'm just wondering what they're planning to do for the things outside of the characters. Both W-engines and bangboos have 5 star variants which could mean we're looking at 3 gacha banners or W-engines and bangboos being looped into one whole banner.
It's definitely something to consider. I wonder how they will do the breakdown. My first thought is that Weapons and Bangboo will be in one banner, since the stats they provide the team are sizeable in their own right. I guess we'll have to see. At least I can rest easy that Hoyo will find a reasonable solution, until they prove otherwise.
First time discovering this channel, subbed! Glad to find a channel that is relatable in terms of both tastes and that doesn't just either blindly praise or pile-on for clicks. Looking forward to more coverage. On a side note, I actually really enjoy the change of pace Star Rail's events offer up. They often experiment with almost completely different gameplay types and I'm genuinely amazed they can put out so much content consistently. But then again, the team is prob huge at this point
Thank you for the kind words! You make a great point about hsr events. It makes me very curious about what we might get from zzz events. The future is hopefully bright!
Great first impressions video. I look forward to the "late" impressions too, arguably they are even more important for this type of games that are supposed to be played for years. It's good that you addressed the frequency of the qte against mobs. I was worried about that just by watching others play 😂 let's hope they at least rework the trigger, making it more in control of the player I'm happy to know that most of the negatives could be fixed in the months before release. Well, apart from the story, let's just hope that it will get better in later chapters. Will you talk about the dailies/weekly quests in some videos? I'm curious if those are any different from other hoyo games
thanks for checking out our thoughts! Yeah we can put dailies on the list of things we want to circle back to, along with some other topics we missed from this video, if you can believe that lol.
Great talk, I'm glad somebody is finally talking about the storytelling and correctly stating how bad it is, like it's almost seminal. I despise how every plot point/ worldbuilding element is so nebulous and needlessly untenable and doesn't circle back to being material so you never care even if you understand vaguely what's happening. And nobody talks about it, they are either lulled by how 'intricate' or 'lore heavy' it is, enjoy the mickey-mouse nature of it or just pretend to care when in reality storytelling isn't really what they're there for (or it's bc hot anime people are involved). HSR was certainly an upgrade from Genshin, but if the latter were an anime it would be universally and critically panned and almost nobody would watch it, and you'd be allowed to say that though you wouldn't have to because nobody would care enough lol. I think ZZZ might break the proverbial camel's back, Tectone already hinted in his stream that he thinks the story is beyond lacklustre so far, there is still a chance it may miraculously be happenstance good but I really doubt it lol.
Hopefully ZZZ turns out to be good, despite your concerns. I'm still beyond excited and can't wait to play it alongside Genshin and Star Rail. Hopefully I won't end up like George where my expectations don't meet the hype hah.
About the difficulty, I don't think it's that silly to say it looks to easy in the beginning, I think it's fair criticism. The current difficulty of the story and beginning of the game seems so low that it's off putting. I don't want to have to play through hours of lame content to get to the good stuff, I rather avoid that. Not saying it should be super difficult from the start, but at least make it engaging enough, you can always add checkpoints and quick respawns in story mode to make it less punishing without dumbing it down.
That's a fair point, and it could certainly use at least a big more difficulty and engagement at the start of the game. I'm just skeptical we'll get that based on how gacha games usually are, but we'll see how they respond to feedback!
@@TheGameClub Yeah, I'm not holding my breath on MiHoYo changing that either, and honestly, I'm not sure they'll need to. Judging by player numbers and retention on other similar gacha games, people doesn't seem to care, so as long as it's not too terrible they won't have to do anything about it. The current TV to combat ratio situation is pushing it though.
The characters and setting on this one looks great, but it all seems an inch deep. It seems like it just has grindy rogue-lite gameplay, no open world to explore or anything. SF6 World Tour was more of a complete gaming experience. This just seems like they took some of the lamest gameplay aspects of Genshin and made it the entire game.
@@TheGameClub Combat alone would not be enough to invest me in the game, no matter how good it may be. Constant action loops just feel hollow, like dessert without a meal attached. Genshin balances this well, it _has_ combat, and that combat can be fun, but most of the combat is a means to an end, to clear enemies that are preventing you from exploring the world. ZZZ is lacking this element and just seems to be a shallow "combat delivery mechanism." Even Street Fighter knew that they needed to have more than that.
Main story thus far is cringe af (especially first chapter like you said), not sure if they just wanted to go with generic tropes. The side commissions have more interesting and humorous stories
idk what are you talking about. HSR ui is just useless garbage. It is as secondary and boring as possible. The fact that it works "well" and does not take up time - i can't argue with that. Another thing is, when you try to interact with it, you realize how much it was copied without any imagination. The HSR UI looks just like an attempt to add something to the game.
There's definitely an important balance between form and function. Sadly Zenless is too far on the form side; thankfully it won't take too much to bring a better balance.
Could we have made this into several videos that we milk for a week? Yes, but I mean... Enjoy!
You still can.lol

they didn't say Storytelling was bad
the mix between comic books/ cinematic and classic dialogue like HI3 is really good

I suggest you check out our video on the combat. While it is simple, the gameplay loops are very satisfying.
