  • We purchased the EB70s earlier this year to use on our planned summer boon-docking trips up in Northern Arizona's White Mountains - and in this video I will share some of our experiences and lessons we've learned from actually using this for several weeks in the Arizona mountains! I will share a work around I came up with for one of my gripes about the unit not having a remote switch - I found a solution to that!
    Enjoy,

    Keeping the “AC” button on keeps the inverter on. When the inverter is on there will be a parasitic draw off the battery. It’s good to turn it off when not in use and no sun.

    Check out the new Eco Flow Delta II. It has an 1800 watt inverter, a 1000 watt LiFePO4 battery, is expandable, and you can remotely control it with a phone app. A great starting price of $999, and you can add an extra battery in the future. I got the original EB70 when it first came out and have been very pleased with it. I also got the EB3A, which you can't beat for the price and i have the AC200MAX with the two B230 expansion batteries, which runs the big refrigerator for 3 or more days if the power goes out. All i'm missing is the RV! Nice to see some longer term reviews, which most reviewers never do.

    Dave.....Thanks so much for sharing your experience and learnings with this unit. I received my Bluetti EB70S a week ago and have been "running experiments" in my driveway with using it to power my 16ft Airstream trailer, simulating my off grid experience. My challenge is how to most efficiently keep the trailer house batteries topped off with this unit. When using the Bluetti to be a shore power source on the trailer, with a connected 120w Bluetti solar panel with decent sunlight, the unit drains in about two hours with no appliances drawing any significant power (i.e. fridge is on gas mode drawing from propane). The house batteries seems to hog all of the power very quickly. Do you have experience with the best way to keep the batteries topped off and utilize the Bluetti for the occasional AC power needs like laptop charging?

    • @HolidayForTwo42
      @HolidayForTwo42  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You're welcome and thanks! As far as your trailer set up - that sounds strange that you would have so much of a power draw on your system with your trailer... I don't know what kind of batteries you have in the trailer (1 or 2, deep cycle etc.) or how old or new they are - that can make a difference in how long they hold power. But two hours wow, that's fast - when you plug in the Bluetti how much power shows up as being pulled out in watts? Normally, you should only have about maybe 30-40 watts going out from maybe a TV or smoke detectors or CO2 detectors etc. Even a TV turned off will draw power. or even the fridge light etc. if you have it on propane then that helps lower the draw. I know when I plug in my RV the house batteries will pull power out of the EB70 trying to charge them up - but once they are topped off then the draw drops off. Does your panel bring the EB70 up to 100% during the day at all?
      I would start by checking your house batteries first then find out why they aren't keeping up with your power demands - they shouldn't be draining off that quickly. Hope this helps, keep at it you'll get it working in no time! lol!

      @@HolidayForTwo42 Thanks for getting back to me. I'm running some more experiments to isolate what kind of power is pulled for each things I may use so that should educate me on what to focus on. I just wanted to confirm I wasn't missing something obvious and needed someone to check my logic that I should be able to run my trailer on an EB70S.

    Have you ever tried to plug in a device that draws around 500 W right after storing it for some days? I've found that mine will deplete in a matter of seconds and the display would show 0 percent but, after restarting it, it would still have the full charge inside although the display would show 0. You can see a video on my channel of this problem and I was curious if anyone else experienced this. I'm trying to RMA mine but I am afraid that maybe all models behave the same.

      I bought the EB70 and then when I realized my Setpower RV45D refrigerator/freezer would only run for about 45 to 55 hours in hot weather off the EB70 I got the EB70S as an additional power supply and the two smaller units, in my opinion, are more convenient than finding space for a much larger unit. I charge from a portable solar panel because I prefer not to park the Sprinter van in the sun and one unit is able to be charged sitting in the shade of the solar panels while the other is in the van cabinet running the Setpower fridge. The second EB70 can also be used at the campground picnic table or taken for the afternoon in our inflatable kayak. The downside to using two units is trying to ensure that the switch over when the unit running the fridge dies doesn't need to happen while you are sleeping.

      I’ve left it for two-three weeks on stand-by and before we take it on our next trip, I’ve noticed it does drain very slowly so I will top it off before packing it. Bringing it back to full only takes a few minutes. But I think temperature has something to do with rate of decline, I’ve learned they don’t like heat and also it’s best when storing them to have them at 50-60% and only fully charge them right before using them.

    • @HolidayForTwo42
      @HolidayForTwo42  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’d did a quick search on your unit, but couldn’t find exact details on power usage - that being said a fully charged EB70 has roughly 710 watts hours of power, etc so it will run it - but how long depends on outside ambient temperature - and if you have solar to keep the EB70 fed with power. With No solar, it should run your ARB for about 24-36hrs. Approximately- With solar, much, much longer. If you want longer run time, you might consider a 1000-1500 watt unit.

      If you check out the HOBOTECH video on the EB70 that was referred to in this video (or also the JASONOID video ) the actual available watts on this 700watt power station is 586 watts, an approximate 80% efficiency, which according to both of their reviews is a good percentage rate. You can see the watt draw whenever the cooler/refrigerator is running and most coolers, good ones like ARP, only actually run the compressor for about 20 minutes max each 60 minute hour in 65 to 80 degree ambient outdoor/inside your camper temperature so if we say it draws 60 watts (that is indicating watts per hour not per minute) when running you would be using 20 watts each hour approximately and that would take 29 hours to use 586 available watts.

  • @fortwoods
    @fortwoods ปีที่แล้ว +2

    It doesn't seem like there are many advantages to the EB70S and the EB3A. EB70S has 800 watt outlets vs 600 watts on the EB3A. It was 770 wh vs 267 wh. But if you get a Chins 12v/100ah battery for $300 and a $15 12v to 24v setup converter, your EB3A+Battery is less than the EB70S. Capacity is now double the Eb70S plus you gain Bluetooth control. Im just trying to work this out in my mind of which is better. I have an Eb3A that I really like.

    • @HolidayForTwo42
      @HolidayForTwo42  ปีที่แล้ว

      I find it drains off a full charge slowly over time even when nothing is drawing power - the amount seems to vary on the ambient temperature as well. The remote control doesn’t draw very much that I’m aware of so I don’t think it would make a huge difference either way should be fine for a few days with no charge coming in - now if you could rig one up with a solar panel plugged into it full time that would be the perfect set up!

    • @nascar427
      @nascar427 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@HolidayForTwo42 Yes I know, but for the remote to work even though you aren't powering anything, the A.C. circuit still has to be on, so maybe the slight consumprion in that mode

    • @HolidayForTwo42
      @HolidayForTwo42  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@nascar427 got you now, I’ve never left it set in AC mode on idle with remote plugged in for more than an overnighter in my RV, and that with my solar panel plugged into it. Might make a fun experiment though to try it out and see just how long it would handle that and how much drain in up on it! The remote itself doesn’t event register (wattage draw) when plugged into the unit… I suppose the green AC light on the EB-70 would be the largest draw of power in that case. I hope that helps, now you kind of got me curious about that.

    • @rickwilson478
      @rickwilson478 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      When you have the AC turned on, it is not just the AC indicator light that is drawing power. The AC ability is possible because the unit is running an inverter to convert the DC power of the internal battery to AC power, and that inverter is a constant, if minimal, draw.
