Buddy De Franco always played very interesting musical solos.I had the pleasure to play with him for 2 weeks in 1968 on the Glenn Miller Band & for another 2 weeks in 1973 on the same band. He was the best leader I have worked for in my career.Gerry Cappuccio He was a great gentleman & Musician.
Absolutely brilliant. Have been following Buddy for 60yrs and always wondered how he did it. Great to see the notes just how he played it. Play on in heaven Buddy, we shall miss you.
This is fantastic bebop playing and mastering of the instrument...and to think that critics said he was too " mechanical "- them that cant do criticize.
+Bob Bly Arguably the first clarinetist - and one of the few, to move beyond Swing and Goodman's influence and learn from Charlie Parker and absorb the Be Bop vocabulary. Eddie Daniels is another cat, but he's much younger - still alive.
Kinda ashamed that it took DeFranco dying to get me to post this videos first comment. Well, here it is: WOW!!!!! And thank you so much for the transcription, Iagro!
I transcribed it over many weeks (during train journeys with my laptop). I used the program Transcribe! to slow it down. Did many things by ear and used the build in keyboard to verify the lines i heard ;)
Hey awesome transcription!! I looked for the file on your website and couldn't find it - would you be willing to post it on your website ? Thanks Lagro!
