Imagine being attacked with a knife in your room, have your parents catch the guy, hear struggles in the hallway, only to realize that the attacker killed your parents when he comes back to finish you off.. sounds like a horror movie

Tragic. I live in Australia and I was sick of hearing my rear neighbor bash his wife so I jumped the fence and banged on their door and called the police who sorted them out. They've never fought like that since and I'm glad I did it, never done anything like that before. If you hear something do something. Peace Dr Grande!

My husband intervened when an elderly man was abusing and hitting his wife outside a workmans club,as soon as he did the elderly couple both attacked him!
I mean they were old but man were they angry! The old man got a right hook in before hubby could get away. He was frightened he’d hurt them just by trying to stop them,so he said guys guys you’re gonna get hurt trying to hurt me,then the vitriol came flying out both theirs mouths,he explained he had never heard elderly people talk like that!
I said this is Australia mate! He got a slight black eye for his trouble, but being Aussie myself ( hubby is not ) i could not stop laughing at the fact my huge muscular hubby got a black eye from a geriatric! 😂.

I love when people commit violent murders and then say how horrible their life has become because of what they did! It’s so narcissistic! You don’t feel sorry for your crimes….you feel sorry for yourself and how the crimes have ruined your life! Idk why it still blows my mind when offenders say such things because it is definitely something that is said or communicated all too often.

If you ever hear somebody screaming and you think you hear help.... just call the police. Even if you're not 100% sure it certainly isn't going to hurt anything.... We are paying them to do just that. It definitely does not surprise me that they didn't call though heck there's probably a number of people out there that would see a murder going on and still not bother because they just don't want to get involved. Imagine calling the police on a neighbor who is in a heated argument with his misbehaving teenage son that is buying pills from a high school classmate, the police barge in and find the pills with the homeowner also owning firearms and turning an innocent man into an instant felon. Sometimes minding your own business is also the right call.

As a 10-year-old, I was beaten by a high-school boy on the NYC streets. It was early morning, and I was headed to school with my 8-year-old sister in tow. The beating took place at the entrance to the subway, with many adults around. Most continued on their business, the others stopped to watch, but did nothing to help. Guess they were taught not to get involved and, more than likely, have passed that mentality down to their offspring. I was fortunate to not be injured any more than I was and managed to find my way back home. I reported the incident to the school, they tracked him down and said they would take care of it. I doubt anything was done. If anyone sees an injustice, please make a call or a move -- no matter how small.

Good morning, Dr. Grande! this was a rather strange case.
I would like to know exactly what Jason and his mother argued about that night and how that would have set him off to consummate his "relationship" with Chantel, especially when she was presumably ill.
Furthermore, the intensity of his violence to her and her parents illustrates, as you have suggested, that Jason's frustrations had been building up within him for a long time and only now exploded.
I am not sure about how the necrophilia plays into all of this, as well as his continued stabbings of Chantel and her parents after they were clearly dead because of his initial attacks on them.
Trying to clean up the scene after he was done, as well as having his unsubstantiated alibi and various excuses for the cuts on his hands suggests that he was not in some sort of mental funk and that he simply couldn't decide upon a story and keep to it. But that seems to be common enough among criminals, especially if they are amateurs.
But what I find most interesting is that people sought to judge him by his letters of apology.
I had no idea that so many people are qualified handwriting analysts!
But then, I think that handwriting analysis is another branch of pseudoscience, and that Jason simply wasn't overly "book smart" and learned to write up to better educated levels.

He noted that the writing of the inmates was often very disordered in terms of the way it appeared on the page (with lines that zig-zagged all over the place, etc. ), so there might be a connection between psychopathy and the physical appearance of a person's writing. For at least a generation, grammar and punctuation was taught only minimally in Australia. Moreover, kids in rural small towns often do not have the same educational opportunities as those in more urban areas. This may explain the punctuation issues in the apology letter.

Lots of people state the anonymous and vague sources of screams as a reason for not calling. I tend to believe that most death screams can be distinguished from toe stubs or 'my God I saw a mouse'. Sometimes I watch house makeovers and I know the recipients have been coached. You can hear it. So not to blame people but I really wonder why it is that true terror cannot be perceived. Maybe they are just too frightend themselves to admit it is happening.

How awful. You don't want to believe people like this could ACTUALLY hurt someone. We have all met people like this, and maybe got a creepy feeling, but usually, the person keeps a very low profile. At 2 different times in my work, I met two such guys, and it was impossible to let them KNOW, that there was no interest, on my part. They hang around, start bizarre conversations, likely due to the social anxiety disorder. Well, I too had anxiety with socializing so it was THAT much harder for me to, er, "shake them". I had felt badly for these obviously out of sync people, and I was rewarded with creepy dude following me around the hospital. On the elevator, in the break room-jeez. I feel so lucky, think8ng back on it.

They say in a murderous rage people sometimes get extra human strength or appear to be “possessed”. Interesting that some people can do incredible acts if in the right state of mind. Like lifting a car up off someone. Ever been so angry or scared that you did something like that?

His upbringing enabled him to do this horrific crime. I hope his parents have been stigmatized for raising someone who has no value for life other than his own. Society is also at fault for allowing courts to diminish the value of victims’ lives by handing out such lenient sentences. The damages of losing such good people are incalculable to a functioning society. His letter was most likely at the behest of his parents, who realize they contributed to this terrible tragedy, as well.
