Brand recognition can get you further than comparing solely with ABEC ratings as one brand at ABEC3 will do different than another at ABEC3. Having said that, ABEC3 is hard to even find these days as it a pretty low rating. You on a small wheel size? Our IW brand bearings are great and 50% off when purchased with wheels. I don't just plug because they are IW, but we get them made the same place as some of those we sell so... Both the ABEC7 and of course the Swiss would be big upgrades from what you have. $26 and $60 full price.

Is sealed bearings better than 608 bearing for bauer roller hockey skates

Both would be 608, but a sealed vs non-sealed is arguable. A sealed bearing you cannot service/clean, and may be better for taking on more loads/impacts of jumping around. One with a removable shield is serviceable and you can clean and prolong life. I'm one that just replaces bearings rather than clean them, so it just depends. Most bearings are serviceable with removable shields. The SG bearings from Rollerblade are sealed as are a few others. Others have a soft nylon retainer on the inside that makes it easy to service or add lube if/when wanting. InlineWarehouse.com
