  • My 220GPU airboat project slowly progresses! In this video I go over my experience in getting the blades/propeller refurbished and show the finished product! I am simply amazed at how they ended up. I thought for sure they were a lost cause, but take a look for yourself!

Glad to see you are continuing on with the airboat videos!!! I got scared you had abandoned them for a minute there.
On the motor, based on how good it was running I'd say clean it up, paint it and run it until you have a good reason to tear into it.

Thanks Bearhawk! No, I am "all in" to get this boat back on the water. I have a few other project that are getting in the way of course. My lofty goal is to have this on the water on July 10th. My current plan is to pull the motor off the boat, clean it and paint/power coat parts. Most people are telling me the same thing you are. Don't dig into it unless you have to. The cage/rigging repair and paint should go quick. The biggest task now is fiberglass repairs and painting the hull so that it looks half decent. I haven't messed with fiberglass in decades.

Thanks Tom. I had some other things get in the way for a bit, but this weekend I start focusing on the boat again. I hope to have it done by year's end. I haven't strongly considered selling the blades, but it might be a good option for me to fund the boat. I will think about it and let you know. Good luck with the boat and keep me posted on your progress!

Maybe you should try a sacrificial anode and see if that helps with the corrosion. It may help.

Thanks Brian. Not sure if you are referring to the corrosion on the rigging (metal stand) or other areas. Not sure how that would work, but worth considering. Thanks for the suggestion.

The aluminum on the prop is what i was thinking, hell if your hull is aluminum probably a good idea. How about this, where the blades connect on the hub, put antiseize on the aluminum and the bolts to might be a good idea.
It's crazy how much the props cost.
      I'll watch for your progress.
