I'm planning on trading a Squier Telecaster Affinity for this guitar. I'm more of heavy-ish tones with the flexibility to do some crunch as well. Single coils don't really shine that well at that.

would you buy this guitar used for 299 us or the EVH Wolfgang Standard used for 399? Which trem is best for someone just moving to electric and has no experience keeping them in tune?
I don't know if you're still on TH-cam but I hope that you see this message any way. I bought both - the Floyd model and the standard Sterling SUB guitar exactly like the one in this video. For more versatility I'd go with the Sterling. The EVH has the Floyd style tremolo but it's not something that I'd recommend if you're not familiar with them. They take some technical know-how to set them up and to replace strings. The Floyd is better at staying in tune but if you set up your tremolo just right at the correct height it will stay in tune even with cheap machine heads. That's something that you'd have to consult with about (guitar tech/luthier) to make it play as you want.
This is basswood - it's fairly light. If you're standing and want to play without fatigue this would be a great choice! Especially if you're playing long gigs.
Position 1 is the Bridge humbucker, position 2 is the coil split Bridge humbucker, 3 is both humbuckers, 4 is the split neck pickup and 5 is the neck humbucker
Mind you he makes a 200 dollar Slash Epiphone sound like the man in the hats signature so anything he plays will sound great but instill need this lol.
Because Evh played music man axis guitars before he designed the wolfgang, but the wolfgang is probably the better value for money, you get a dive only floyd rose, 2 good pickups and of course a classic design for 50 bucks more

You'd have to adjust your saddles lower so that you can raise your bridge plate a little higher for this effect.
