    I am Ukrainian. My country has been invaded by Russia. In this video I will tell you what happened on the seven-hundred-fourteenth day of the war.
    Day 714: Feb 07
    Today, there are a lot of updates from the Avdiivka direction.
    But first of all, there are a lot of updates from Crimea. Today, Ukrainian Special Operations Forces units conducted a successful operation on the Russian oil rigs. Ukrainian special operators reported that Russian forces deployed a ”Neva-B” object detection radar system on the rig, which allowed Russian forces to better surveil the northwestern part of the Black Sea. Russians also used the object to stage attacks with Iranian-provided Mohajer-6 reconnaissance drones and guide Shahed drone strikes. Moreover, the mining platform was also used as a radar station to monitor surface vessels in the northwestern part of the Black Sea. Ukrainians seized the valuable equipment, mined the oil rig, and successfully detonated explosives from a safe distance.
    Today, Russian sources also leaked a video filmed by the Russian air defense operators during the recent Ukrainian missile strike on Crimea. The video shows how Storm Shadow and SCALP missiles, one by one, fly right in front of the Russian air defense systems, causing a huge wave of criticism of the effectiveness of Russian air defense. Some Russian analysts claimed that the missiles were flying at a too close range to be shot down, while others presumed that Ukrainian drone strikes indeed destroyed a Russian radar station, rendering these missile launchers useless.
    When it comes to the front lines, as expected, Russian forces did not slow down after a huge group of Russian soldiers that reached Sapronova Street at night got encircled and taken captive by the Ukrainians. Instead, the Russian command was emboldened by the fact that the so-called Death Valley between Avdiivka and Ivushka was crossed and decided to double down.
    The situation is extremely tough. Ukrainian soldiers report that Russians conduct major assaults every twenty minutes. Moreover, Russian aviation is extremely active, and over the last eight hours, Russian dropped thirty-seven FAB-500 air-dropped bombs. On top of that, Russians started to actively engage heavy thermobaric artillery systems. As you can see, all this fire is concentrated right in the center of Avdiivka, where Russians are planning to advance. Such fire basically wipes everything out. Nonetheless, Ukrainian fighters reported that they stand their ground. Some say that withdrawing to the positions behind is useless anyway, as, under such pressure, new positions become exactly the same in a matter of minutes.
    It seems like the fighting is so intense that neither party has the time to release geolocated combat footage. In fact, Ukrainian soldiers reported that they engaged all drone operators to counter this massive wave of attacks. Ukrainian drone operators are working with little to no sleep to rebuff Russian attacks and also help the infantry by communicating what they see from the sky.
    A Ukrainian brigade spokesperson also stated that Russian forces started equipping some of their armored vehicles with electronic warfare systems to protect against Ukrainian drones. Even though such practices are still very rare due to the shortages of electronic warfare systems, this poses a significant threat. It would not be a big problem if Ukrainians had ample supplies of shells, however, as Ukrainian forces are increasingly rationing shells and trying to target masses of advancing Russian forces.
    According to prominent Russian sources, Russians only managed to fully capture the first block of Independence Street. Prominent Ukrainian sources claim that the fights recently reached the bridge. The claims of the progress of other sources vary between these two benchmarks. However, all sources agree that the main direction of the Russian advancement is south-east. Russian sources claim that Ukrainians are frequently counterattacking, not allowing Russians to establish their positions, and achieved success on Kotsiubynskogo Street, which Ukrainian sources still mark under Russian control.
    Avdiivka Military Administration Head Vitaly Barabash stated that the situation in the area is expected to continue being very difficult because Russian forces are trying to capture the town for political and informational reasons before the Russian presidential elections in March.

      I’m an American here. And I can confirm things are not going well in our Congress. Just today, the bipartisan immigration bill that is supported by even some of the most conservative members as well as the border patrol union; which had another $60+ billion dollars in aid directed at Ukraine has been effectively stalled in the senate. Trump and MAGA were successful in pressuring enough Republican senators to block the bill from advance. The president is doing what he can to get Congress to send additional funds to Ukraine. But alas, Trump has enough influence left to keep Congress from doing anything significant until something happens to Trump or after the election in November concludes. I’m sorry, that’s the best I could do

    Avdiivka has been a stronghold against Russia since 2014, and it's at risk of falling because of authoritarian interests in the US and Europe. I wish the republicans would feel shame for their actions these past few months. (I say wish because I know they won't.)

      It's a bit more complicated. The EU wants to support Ukraine, but it just can't do it right now. First of all, EU military capabilities has gone down in since the early 2000s (mainly because of the same politicians and their parties who wants to send military aid now). EU just doesn't have enough weapons and won't have for the next 2-4 years. Even the financial side is problematic, before the next aid, the EU has to take a loan for this reason.
      The US side is different. They have enough weapons, but the ukranian is just one of the many possible frontlines, and not even the most important. China, North-Korea, Iran are all waiting for a sign of weakness. If the US cuts its stockpiles for Ukraine, they can't react in time if another fight takes place elsewhere.

    • @geoffreykeenan5914
      @geoffreykeenan5914 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      @@lydon5595 Much to the contrary, US unwillingness to confront Russia in Ukraine is the very sign of weakness that China, North Korea and Iran are looking for. There've been no reports that limitations on stockpiles of weapons prevents US from supplying Ukraine, and lots of reports that republicans prefer that we negotiate with Putin rather than beat him.

    • @unfathomablyunfathomable
      @unfathomablyunfathomable 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      @@lydon5595As a guy living in Sweden, in the EU, I can safely say that the EU IS able to support Ukraine :). All of the countries are deciding on a new aid package, and yes. Spending money IS worth it here because it's cheaper destroying Russia in Ukraine rather than in Poland. The only countries arguing against it is Slovakia and Hungary. And even they've stopped.
      And no, the US isn't "cutting" any stockpile, and isn't at any risk from China or North Korea. First of all, all of these nations have nukes so it doesn't matter who's military is stronger because all sides will lose the conflict (even the US will lose).
      Second of all, the ammunition the US is giving Ukraine is mostly old ammunition that is cheaper to give away than scrap, which would've been done otherwise.
      Third of all, the US is by far the strongest economical and military superpower in the entire world, housing the number 1 and 2 spots for largest airfleet (3 as well if you count the boneyard), and have technology far superior to that of China and Russia.
      Ukraine is also a very important front as Russia will otherwise advance into the rest of Europe (they've threatened this several times by now), Ukraine is also a very important country for food which we can't afford Russia getting control over. And also, destroying Russia's entire stockpile of soviet equipment in Ukraine will make it even easier to destroy them entirely in a war. Plus, we in the west have learned a lot about modern warfare through this conflict.

      @unfathomablyunfathomable 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@geoffreykeenan5914Negotiating with him won't help as he will just, like in 2014 with the "peace", break his promises and attack again when he has gathered strength. The fighting in Andivka started in 2014.
      There are rail and road junctions near and in the town that if Ukrainian soldiers were not occupying it would ease Russian logistics.
      Andivka is a strategic key to the Donetsk Oblast.
      At this point taking before the March Russian elections will make Putin look good in propaganda.
      Ukraine also has a Bahkmut problem here.
      If they try to hold onto it too long they risk losing too many lives over a piece of ground.
      Some Ukrainians were critical of the extended defense of Bahkmut and the commanders.
      Staying too long in Andivka could have the same effect.
      No matter how many Russians they take with them.
      Ukraine simply does not have the number of soldiers Russia has.
      It can not afford to waste them.
      Sometimes discretion is the better part of valor.

It's possible, read up on the reason why the Kursk destroyed itself as it did... basically unavailable ordnance replaced by outdated and poorly maintained/stored older ordnance. Their own weapon made not only useless by corruption/incompetence, but also deadly to the crew. But we know Russkiy Mir doesn't care about people.
