Love the series, Jon! The one HUGE detail I appreciate which differs from most Top lists is you bring the game out and not only show the gameboard/pieces, but include b-roll of them up close or even (in the case of Scrawl) show your group playing the game. This definitely elevates it above the usual, 'slide over a game box and talk about it', that you see in most videos. Appreciate the extra effort!
These videos always leave me saying "Well, I NEED to get that game" at least three or four times while watching. You do an amazing job of describing why these games are among your favorites, and I always appreciate discovering new gems that I'd not heard of before.
So happy to see K2 get some love as it's one of my favourites. It's really thematic and I love the option to adjust the difficulty. Excellent list Jon!
As always, your videos are so good in every aspect! Production, hosting, recommendations, etc… congrats for having this wonderful channel that I so much love!
Love seeing K2 on someone's top games! The game doesn't get as much praise as it should as a wonderfully fun easy to teach 60 minute game! It's just so tense sometimes!
The original carcassonne is too forgiving. It gives you points for incomplete features at the end-game, no such thing in this version. So you need to weigh the risk/reward/tiles left factor. It is more strategic also imo.
High Society is so good. Easy to explain and quick to play. It's not my favorite Knizia auction game (that goes to Modern Art) but it's definitely the easiest to get to the table.
Simple rules explanation ☑️ Loads of b-roll ☑️ Brilliant fun games, not the fads ☑️ New baby ☑️ Pot plants ☑️ Reassuring 90s dress sense ☑️ Sometimes I think Jon just makes these videos to show up the other games vloggers
I played recently "spicy" and you're right, it's above the other two. Having two options when you're bluffing feels more engaging and tense. Great little game.
25:36 "That wouldn't be possible...". Try Suspects, it's basically a Chronicles of Crime game without an app. They solved this app issue quite interesting. I'm sure you will like it :)
Could you play K2 as you have to work together to all reach the top? It is not the goal of the game but might be interesting for alpinists. A negotiation element could be nice.
Have you heard about the recently announced Foundations of Metropolis? It's a retail friendly retheme of Foundations of Rome. Took a chance on a $15 used copy of Deep Blue. Really enjoying it! It deserves more love for sure!
Carcassonne H&G is my favorite version of Carc as well; but my partner really doesn't enjoy it. I think (for her) there's too many ways to score, too many things to keep track of, and she doesn't like the function of the bonus tiles. Her preferred version is Over Hill & Dale, which is a bit simpler, and a bit less "mean".
Perhaps worth noting that Scrawl and Telestrations are just monetized versions of Eat Poop You Cat (Board Game Geek title), with the convenience of pre-made prompts and the little drawing boards.
Thanks for the tip of Carc. Hunters..have get this now as an Carcassone 2.0 😁 had the feeling Carc. In the wild west could be that.. but seems more complicated with the additional stuff..where these additions here seem more streamlined and elegant.. 😊
If you like K2 you have to try the Cave from the same guy. I don't own those games, but played both and me and my wife found Cave more exciting and less predictable where in K2 sometimes you can find yourself stuck with bad choices
Hi! What was that one trick taking game from the UK that has hidden information based on people's written preferences? I can't remember which video you featured that on
The concept of Scrawl seems amazing, if you're on a budget you can just grab paper and a pen and choose movie/book titles, that's how I played it as a kid and it was H I L A R I O U S
Love the videos Jon. Congratulations on the birth of your child. I have a 15 month old and my wife is pregnant with our next. She's 18 weeks. My life is so much better with children. Although I don't play too many games anymore which sucks.
I like to play Dream Factory once a year, usually near the Academy Awards. I liked Traumfabrik a little more because they used real actors and films, but the movie titles were in German.
While watching these videos, I'm curious whether any game I own might be on your top 50 list. I was very surprised to see Deep Blue here - I've played it once with my girlfriend, and we didn't have a very great time. That being said, we figured that it might just not be suited for two people, and definitely want to try again with a larger group. On another note, if anyone's interested in buying Spicy, I recommend the version Sweet and Spicy instead. It's the same game, but with additional cards and rules to make it more suitable for children... However, unless you're actually playing with children, definitely play without these additions for a normal round of Spicy; the actual reason I recommend this version is that here the cards have very adorable illustrations of cats.
Hey Jon! What do you think about unstable games? I love the art, but I'm worried to get swayed by the cute characters and that the games really aren't any good.
Hey Jon! For some reason, most of the links are not working for me! I've been trying to buy Foundations of Rome and Deep Blue for some time, with no luck. Is there any geolocation limitations? (Portuguese, here!) Thanks!
Congratulations! Enjoy. Its a whole new world once you become a parent I wonder if the amount of knizia gsmes will increase or decrease as we move toeards number 1
Jon, I need you to be honest with me... do you actually refer to the Spicy cards by the name of their suits while teaching/playing? Because every time I try to make that happen, someone confuses chilli and pepper and everything goes wonky... I've never had a game of Spicy that didn't devolve into "red/blue/green". Curious to know if that's normal or if you've managed to make the suit names stick
Interesting! Yes, I've managed to make them stick and never had that problem you describe but I can imagine it! I think because I would always call it a chilli in real life, but I get that some people call them peppers or hot peppers so the confusion makes sense.
Hi John, yes sorry I understand that! The playlist was saying it had been hidden (which it previously hadn’t been showing on my end) so I wondered if it had been striked from my country or for copyright purposes etc :) hope fatherhood is treating you well!
I 'd like for you to consider my patreon support to be a bribe for New Angeles to make your list and not any sort of support or sign I enjoy your non-New Angeles content :)
Three of the bonus Top 100 videos are available to watch now, by becoming a patron at patreon.com/actualol

I love this little but very important addition, I just wish he'd do it for pateron exclusive videos too haha
Congratulations on the birth of your beautiful baby!! ❤
These videos always leave me saying "Well, I NEED to get that game" at least three or four times while watching. You do an amazing job of describing why these games are among your favorites, and I always appreciate discovering new gems that I'd not heard of before.
Congratulations on the whole baby thing!!! As soon as I saw today's video in my feed I wordlessly cheered :-)
Thank you! We love a wordless cheer - but it's not quite an actualol 😄

Telestrations is such a gem. We've had moments playing with family where we were all laughing so hard we couldn't speak. Those are special memories!
K2 is criminally underrated. Such a good thematic game! Loving the list so far! Just picked up High Society, thanks!
Wow, your sum-ups of the games are excellent mini-reviews. Very helpful info that get me interested in games that i don't know much about !
Love seeing K2 on someone's top games! The game doesn't get as much praise as it should as a wonderfully fun easy to teach 60 minute game! It's just so tense sometimes!
Such a good game!
@@christopherchild4022 It's always exciting to see if bumpy pants man or smooth pants man makes it up the mountain first.
@@TabletopTurtle "Round Shoulders" and "Bumpy Shoulders" in my house :)
I like that you rate highly games that I’ve never heard of. That keeps me looking for new games to experience.
Carcassonne Hunters and Gatherers is on my shelf of shame! Gonna have to break it out now with the Actual recommendation
I would totally be fine with selling all my other carcassonne versions.
Why?
@@naturesfinest2408 because this version has everything I need. It's more competitive, more tension, no need for expansions.
I hate the original Carcassonne. Maybe I just don't understand it after playing it several times.
The original carcassonne is too forgiving. It gives you points for incomplete features at the end-game, no such thing in this version. So you need to weigh the risk/reward/tiles left factor. It is more strategic also imo.
I haven't heard of a bunch of the games you've mentioned. Which is nice; more games to read about!

Love your channel. I am learning a lot.
Great shout on Deep Blue, not heard of that before but seems ace!
Loving this series 🔥
Thank you
So many of my favourite games on this list as well, and I also added a new game to my wishlist (High Society) based on this video. Thank you!
Loving these videos and congrats on the new gamer in your family!
Congratulations on the baby! Hunters and Gatherers for the win!
Great video! I gotta track down deep blue!
My favourite game of telestrations I ever played was telestrations against humanity,
Using the white cards from CAH as the drawing prompts.
Deep Blue is a fave of mine and seemingly hard to get unfortunately. Always fun when it hits the table
25:36 "That wouldn't be possible...". Try Suspects, it's basically a Chronicles of Crime game without an app. They solved this app issue quite interesting. I'm sure you will like it :)
I do like it! But not quite as much as Chronicles of Crime 😁

+1 Deep Blue - an underrated push your luck gem!
I bought a hand truck so I could take Foundations of Rome to game nights.

You're welcome! Glad you like it :)
Scrawl is the physical version of Gartic Phone I’ve played in teams meetings.
Yes!! Was waiting for this one!!x
I love high society but i found out halfway through a game that my parents (who i usually play games with) both hate auction games.
OK, how many times did you knock over the Spicy box?
(The number of cuts that start with it wobbling like crazy...)
Perhaps worth noting that Scrawl and Telestrations are just monetized versions of Eat Poop You Cat (Board Game Geek title), with the convenience of pre-made prompts and the little drawing boards.
Congratulations AGAIN 😍 It's Always a party for this kind of events

Looking to buy . Can’t find link below on screen. Interested in buying Hollywood golden ages. Can’t find that particular game only spin offs.
It was only sold in Spain, so it is hard to get hold of unfortunately. My version doesn't have English rules, for example.
I like to play Dream Factory once a year, usually near the Academy Awards. I liked Traumfabrik a little more because they used real actors and films, but the movie titles were in German.
can't wait for the 3rd video. when is it dropping? :)
This week!
I REALLY regret getting rid of Isle of Skye.

Anyone know why the third video is unavailable?
It hasn't been released yet, they're being staggered to cover my paternity leave.

How much replayability does Chronicles of Crime have?
Spicy looks like an updated version of the card game Asshole. I like the changes
Your favourite designer! What's your thoughts on zoo vadis?
I've not had a chance to try it yet. I'm wary since the original version wasn't as popular as his other games - but I'm definitely keen to try it.
What is your favourite version of Chronicles of Crimes? Mine is 2400.
Did I say Congrats last time?
Just gave me more games to research.
I see you love auction games.
I can't get my hand on Foundation of Rome :(
First! (First time ever I get to be first:)) I am really looking forward to this top50. Loved the first part. Now onto watching this one...:)
