    Question: didn't she watch the original documentary where Stoffel made some mud balls, stacked them up on the corner of his enclosure, and climbed them to escape? The test they did here is pretty lame by comparison.

    • @Quetzalcoatl_Feathered_Serpent
      @Quetzalcoatl_Feathered_Serpent 4 ปีที่แล้ว +180

      Well that documentary is obvious proof. Science cares when that same ability can be put to use in a controlled enviornment and not just be a fluke. Hence the food on air challenge. its something uniquely new to them and thus requires true innovative thought. Means that brain is thinking and imagining what to do. Also note that Stoffel escapes for the love of it. He never really actaully escapes the zoo. Its kinda obvious he's screwing around with his caretakers. They put a new obstacle and Stoffel is having a blast solving it. He escapes he gets caught they throw a new obstacle he finds a way.

  • @CroshVine

      Yeah, Stoffel proved that stoffel could do it. However it's hardly prove for what the species in general is capable of. Also it has been part of an iterative process, a new solution to a slightly tweaked known problem. Intelligence also needs to be tested by confronting specimens with entirely new issues, so experience doesn't factor into it.

    Our ferrets would constantly drag items over to the bed to climb up on it.

    I can't see the point of this given that Stoffel and his family have already demonstrated his ability to use anything - even thing people hadn't thought of (such as mud!) to use in escaping from his enclosure.
    And in any case, tool-using is an option limited by the physical capacity - or lack thereof - to usefully wield objects, so must necessarily be of limited help in assessing intelligence.

    Having watched Stoffel’s previous videos, where he made his own damn tools thank you, without watching to the end I’d say our boy has this.
