The double kicks surprised me. He isn't doing them high (except for double roundkick), but he has the pivot and snap of the Bill Wallace method. Makes me think some of that came from his Okinawan influence, and not just something he made up in the American tournament scene.
@@armandoramos2887people don't understand. You carry your hands much different when you're fighting someone with hand wraps and gloves. You can afford to throw more punches at the head.
@@Chrismw81 Yeah that kind of old school guard was used when there was a lot wrestling involved in bare knuckled boxing to ready yourself when your opponent tries a takedown on you. It's easier to sprawl from that type of low guard than today's hands up guard. Even some MMA fighters have their hands low for that reason. The Okinawan Te masters in the past I believe also cross trained in their folk style of wrestling in conjunction with their striking.

Their guard is by their chest like the old school bare knuckle boxers during the Prizefighting era in the 18th and 19th centuries.
