I think the best way to make money is to show people how to make money.
Mohamed Maftol it definitely can be haha. But among the self help gurus, there is content that is genuinely helpful. For example my article on passive income ideas did well (but not amazing financially) but because it was considered useful by many it did help promote my other work. So while you are definitely correct, occasionally a piece you read proves useful. Or at least that was my goal. I love hearing reader feedback where they started developing an entire new source of income after reading an article of mine. It’s probably a small number of people but I stick to methods I have personally tried, which is why I think Shelby’s method is effective. She actually tries something before promoting it. You learn a lot about language and how to write both creatively and professionally :) It’s a lot harder than people think (I am constantly reading+writing for classes) and sometimes it’s difficult during workshops when people critique your work, but overall I wouldn’t change my major! I've been writing on Medium for about 3 years and it took about 1 year to go past $100 and another to go past $500. Medium needs that mix of quantity and quality. The more you write, the better you get, the more you'll likely earn.

@@haarrinjr5546 Medium uses Stripe to pay writers. Unfortunately, if you don't have access to an account or you don't live in a country that supports Stripe, you won't be able to receive payments.
I've only written 30 articles and started to make $1K per article. I don't know about quantity as much as quality, but if you have the time quantity helps with your craft. I'd just read lots of articles from the best writers and only read guidelines provided by medium staff and publications. All your answers will be within that circle. Everyone writing about medium on medium are just Pontificating. My feed is full of writers who never even broke over $10K a month writer--why should I listen to them? Truth be told, my best article makes pennies and was never curated. I spent days on it! Medium is just weird that way.

A lot of other people in the same position after writing those detailed articles would have crumbled. Yet you set an example especially for people starting out that they shouldn't expect all these earnings straight away and up front. Especially the example you showed of that girl making $3 one month and then increased to making $1,000+ a month.. Even your own youtube example. Wishing everybody luck if they try this out!

**BIG TRANSCRIBING TIP**
Download your videos' captions (or auto generated captions) as either SRT or VTT file.
Then, convert it to a .DOC or .TXT file by just renaming the filename from captions.srt > captions.doc (if you're having trouble, you can use a free online converter)
Finally, in the new file, delete the timecodes and format the text to how you want your blog post to look like!

I like that your video was an honest depiction of writing on Medium. I've been on the platform for just over a year and have made decent money but not enough to support myself. Around 6 months ago I created a second account (a pen name) and that account has tripled the income of my first account. The topics you write on Medium have a lot to do with read time and earnings. My pen name writes about different topics than my main account. There are so many factors that come into play in order to earn decent money. Following, publications, social media, topics, giving back aka reading others work on Medium. It really is a give and take community.

I really wanted to do some at home work but I really hoped to find something compatible to my passion but after hundreds of videos... Nothing. I applied for Rev, which is a transcribing and captionist website and I got approved but waiting for my account to get activated but its been a whole month and I'm losing hope. I really need money and after watching this... I have so much of hope. I write for wattpad as well.. In part two can you cover different platforms? I like to write and would consider doing this. It would be nice to know which one is the most profitable.
You can make money on your own blog with google ads but to start out I'd go with Medium. Medium is a totally unique place, there's really nothing else like it.
there aren't to many games in town unless you want to create your own blog...otherwise its really medium or substack. the guy interviewed in this video has alao written about substack and i have found it useful medium.com/substack-writing

The most important lesson I learned was UX writing is critical! Having custom graphics within the “story” helps out a lot too.
One thing I like about medium is that your old articles sometimes experience spikes in traffics randomly and it’s a nice surprise to wake up to.
Write for people who scan and only read subheadings and for the avid readers is another good tip 👌🏽 that’s why listicles are still popular and always will be. Martin Luther (the European one) knew about it (the 95 theses) back in the 1500s.

Yeah, maybe not jump on the bandwagon. A year from now, it will be incredibly tough to make money on Medium. However, if you have star power, lots of places to make video--which everything is moving towards. Longform content is an essential, tough game. In 10 years, AI will take over. We're already seeing content written by robots that humans cannot detect. Granted, they're simple pieces but give them time.

I have never heard of Medium but I have joined UpWork and Fivver to land writing gigs. I have been unsuccessful in those platforms. I like the business model that Medium has. I write a lot so, I will just post work that I have written for my blog to see how it works. Thanks for the information!
Very cool. Just read 10 curated articles in your niche and follow the inhouse guidelines perfectly. Ignore the rest. (Half the content on medium are from writers writing about medium!) The money will come. Have you heard of Tom Kuegler? I took his course and it helped me get curated. He's the only one I listen to, and Zulie of course--who might have been in his course as well. Good luck. If I see your work there, I'll clap it up!
It's sadly really easy to get around the paywall on medium, so many of the readers aren't payers
