Will, just a thought, as you said you're a clean freak, get a wipe-clean tablecloth and chuck it on your bed when you're preparing meals on there, stop any spills from getting on your nice tartan blankie! B&M always has that kind of stuff
Will, the pasta procedure: lid on to boil water, add pasta lid stays off. Otherwise, you will have a boil-over. Also, turn the metal flat tray that is under the burner with the tray up if you have a spill it will catch the mess. For Restroom needs, you are a guy lucky you just need a jar for max capacity. Later seek a gutter to pour it down. Yet if there is a diarrhea rush that is a 5-gallon bucket with a sealable lid. If you go lux you have a toilet seat. If you get a cooking oil hand pump pressurized spray bottle. It is great for cooking but it also keeps the doo from sticking to the bucket too. Spray bucket before use. Do not forget the Pre-poo spray, post chemicals, and biodegradable TP. Take care of your needs and set it outside the car door for the night. if you are out of the city dig hole and slide the divot on top. The old rule for truck or lorry drivers is you do the doo you clean the bucket. Hassock Portable Lightweight Self-Contained Toilet and doodie bags to toss.
Regarding keeping the car warm: Aldi have got rolls of silver bubble wrap insulation that you could shape and use velcro tape to attach to the ceiling and put in the windows.

A tip when cooking pasta or anything with water, don’t put the lid flat, put it a bit downwards so there is a gap to stop it boiling over let’s the pressure out
Another great vlog, same happens to me when cooking pasta despite taking precautions... I hope you film the fitting of the new heater, should be an interesting view, remember quite a few van lifers have fitted diesel heaters, so plenty of help out there. Stay safe

Tip for clean hands. RUBBER SURGICAL GLOVES. Put as many pairs on for what you would need. After done with one food type just take that layer off, fresh set of gloves. I use this technique to rub spices into meat.

Pro vanlife tip: use a plastic bag for your crumb mix so you can shake excess off inside the bag, and then when finished throw the whole bag away, no washing up!

Will, is there anyway you could stand your mattress up on a 90 degree angle and then cook on the surface underneath? It would give you more space vertically to move and if you boil over your pasta water it won’t soak your bed...just a thought... :)

Wills the food looks delicious. Also if you don’t want the spaghetti water poor out, put a wood spoon on top of the pot and then put the lid on it. And you will not have anymore problems with that. ❤️ your videos.
You need one of them car heaters that plugs into cigrette lighter. You could stick it to the wall and it will blow hot air. Warms up the car well and in summer can use it for cold air. They like £20! I had one in my car to warm it up and clear windows straight away in cold weather.
Tip for opening those bottles: Turn it upside down infront of you. Hold tight and snack it with the thick part inside of your hand on your pinky side in the indented part of the bottle on bottom abot 2 or 3 times. This works like a charm for me. 😏
Food looked delicious 🤤! Will why don’t you try some condensation pads around the car? You can get them to stop condensation on the windscreen and just put them in the microwave to dry them out. A few of them dotted around the car might stop most the condensation during the winter. Amazon do them.

I had a one woman party in my campervan last night, and after one or two cocktails (possibly 10), decided to sleep in it on the driveway. Cooked a grilled cheese and mushroom sandwich and watched a film on my tablet (proximity to the house is great 😁). It's not the same by any stretch of the imagination but it scratched an itch. I'd usually be off somewhere round about now so needs must.
Sometimes thats all you need to get that itch scratched! Happy to hear plenty of cocktails were consumed and I'm sure the grilled sandwich helped to soak up the alcohol haha

Why don't you fit a rotating van air vent on the roof. You can also get reusable dehumidifiers which are bowls with gell you can then dry and re use.

i cooked outside last week, tagliatelle with locusts and parmesan... just for something different ! taste better outdoors eh !
