I have that nostalgic oil based medium and I hate it. It makes my hair so heavy, has a very light hold and it often takes me 5 or so shampoos to wash it out. And I barely use one scoop.
Don't use shampoo to get oil based pomades out. Buy a deep conditioner (like Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Moist), completely saturate your hair with it and wait 5 - 15 minutes, then shower. That will strip 90-100% of the buildup from your hair, if there is any leftover a normal brief shampoo/conditioner will deal with it. There's no need to just do continuous shampooings 5 times in a row.
