Seeing Paul Williams Jr. up there with a group his dad helped build would’ve been something fuckin MAGICAL. Paul Jr. (luckily) got to join Dennis Edwards’ Temptations, be in the Sons of Motown, and started his own Tempts group.
Same with Melvin Franklin Jr. who like Paul Jr. sang with the Sons of Motown but has never been offered a Bass Singer spot despite his dad and Otis being practically like brothers for almost 40 years (1958-1995). Once again an original/classic 5 Tempt’s son who is literally his dad in looks and voice, and was just passed up. The only other guy who could actually do the job properly, Jawan Jackson, is luckily up on stage with the Tempts currently. He’s actually the BEST bass they’ve had in damn near 30 years since Melvin Sr. died. However, like with Paul Jr., I wish Melvin was considered.
It's CRAZY how much Paul Jr looks and sounds SO much like his father!!! S/o to Dennis Williams for putting him on stage.
If he was so bothered by the comparisons to his father, he could have reverted to his birth name of David Sapia and tried to make it.
Five Heartbeats was about the Dells loosely
It was about both of them loosely and a little bit of everyone else that was around during that time
Dude look like a white Nipsey Hussle
😂 fu sho
The shitty ass movie brought out David and Paul’s inner demons to the fullest, didn’t know what to do with Eddie and Melvin and really made Otis holier than thou
I promise in the hotel scene where he got the news about his son, I asked my husband "Did Otis write this?" He said "Yup." Otis didn't forget to paint himself as a saint.
tbf it did show otis having an affair
I don’t think it’s necessarily true that Otis portrayed himself positively. In a lot of scenes it can be interpreted that he was a massive control-freak who had to have things a specific way or a bit of a hater.
It does show one of the many reasons Eddie left the group because Otis at the time was being a control freak and Eddie didn’t feel like he had a say in anything.
@@lufsolitaire5351 Well all power to you, but to me his character of O was the "moral compass" having to deal his bandmates and their shit. No defence than the Queen biopic with the other members getting around Freddie's "antics".
I was confused also when the host asked about temptations as if there were two bio pics, but i think he got it confused with the tyler perry movie of the same name
I think Robert Townsend used the Dells as technical advisors but the plot closely resembled some of what happened to the Tempts
Love the john dolphins story. I know Jamelle Dolphin
David Jr is hating on Leon for playing his Dad to damn Good. 🤣 He misses his dad as he should. And wants a check🤣
GC cameron was as a close lead in vocal ability to a david… other than the great ali woodson!!!!
Ali Woodson definitely sang David's lead almost like him, but you can tell it was still his own voice!
Word has it the Crips kicked Ruffin Jr ass...
They also said Paul's part was wrong in that movie. We need more real facts
Paul's part wasn't wrong .....they just left out the fact that his illness dealing with sickle cell led to his drinking
@@dillinghamfilmthey shown him commit suicide when he was actually murdered.
@@NYNEDollaSign that is what is still being said but not yet determined....I know his brother and nephew and we had extensive conversations about it....and none can really pin down anything...... Detroit may have been rich in gang and mob activity....but not to the point where something like that is still unproven
@@dillinghamfilm You think he shot himself twice? With his non- dominant hand?
No lie that made David Ruffin seem like he was just a egotistical drug addicted 24-7 after the my girl song came out
You can tell this dude be lying
Through his teeth.
Nope. Ali Ollie Woodson did very well. David Jr. doesnt have the pipes to copy his fathers voice.Woodson rivaled DR.
And just because the truth is an ugly one doesn’t mean you have the right to stop it. Your father was abusive. He was a drug addict. I have an aunt who partied with your father. He died a fool. He was also one of the most talented singers ever walk the face of the Earth, two things two things can both be true
He died struggling with addiction. But calling him a fool? How lousy can you be?
@@skepchica him, Whitney Houston, Elvis Presley, Jimi Hendrix, and the rest of those rich gifted by God celebrities who have nothing better to do than destroy themselves it’s foolish

Honestly im glad the movie didn't show the phyco part of david ruffin he was so much worse in real life a abuser a narrsastic showoff and jerk leon made david a once good guy ruined by fame a person you can somwhat sympathise they did show hints of his abusive possessive side towards tammy
Sorry even Brandon lee knew farther was a mode from another planet.outet limits 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉❤ .so if not for the crazy crap he stuck up his nose 👃🐽 God only knows what we would have heard. Think about that for years cause people still crying over this man.😢😮😢
The five heartbeats was based on the Dell, not the temptations
I’m sorry David Ruffin jr isn’t a strong enough vocalist to be in even todays temptations line up lol
Dude has created a whole career off of complaining about how his father was portrayed in a tv movie from 1998..
📌Dude look like Huggy Bear Brown ( Antonio Fargas) from the TV series STARSKY AND HUTCH, in the 70's.✌🏽😂
Aint nobody here to see you, Otis!
And you look, the temptation would be cool for the namesake, but you are not nearly the vocalist that your dad was. You are not a strong enough vocalist to be the front man for the temptations. You try to re-create your father’s rasp.but you don’t have it
North Philly's finest David Ruffin
What does TFU EVEN MEAN?
Art Tatum was different on piano . David Ruffin was different on vocals . David Ruffin was different on performing ... Marvin Gaye's songs were produced better , but David Ruffin performed the best ...
The miniseries portrayed everyone
in a bad light with Paul being a drunk,
David an addict,Otis being hardcore,etc.
We need to raise some funds to
make a proper Temptations’ movie.
And doesn’t David Jr stop to think
that Otis is almost 83 years old,
and might forget certain conversations?
It also might be too painful for him
to sing with his former band mates’ sons.
These interviewers are the worse, they barely do any research.
Yes! I thought the same thing!
DNA
Love the movie but they did make david n paul look like an complete azz
David JR .. CAN'T SING ...
5 heart beats based on thefour tops
Jr.,nah bro, otis ducked you for a reason,i heard you sing and you dont come close to some of the people i heard cover him, his nephew even sounds better than you, bro,i heard you sing and yeah, keep your day job, whatever it may be,one thing you got from your dad,is a big head, only he could back it up,hate to be direct but sometimes being direct is what it takes to snap people out of their imagination.
Otis can't sing either.
