      I would definitely recommend this one for beginner bookmakers. It saves you the worry of making a mistake with measuring, so you can focus on learning the stitch! Good luck! and thank you for saying that 😌

    I have one, but it took me a long time to actually buy it. It sat on my wish list. When I finally purchased it, I opened it and didn't use it🤣. I bought another bookbinding set and more, colorful waxed threads. I like it for punching regular signatures but I haven't tried the Japanese stab binding yet. Nice work.

      What’s funny is that I haven’t used it since this video. 😅 I still prefer to make my own punching guide marks.

    Hi, Thanks for info. What do you think about the practicality of using the stab book for projects?

    • @1134Press
      @1134Press  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is a really great question! I think this binding is really tight. Meaning, it can be challenging to flip through pages. But if your pages and cover are soft, and you give your self a wide margin from the spine, it's more practical. But I do think that the biggest perk of this binding is the pretty thread design on the cover. Are you considering this binding technique for a particular project?

    I've heard that some binders use upholstery type needles cause they are thicker and longer also I was wondering if my crewling needles might be good as they are more blunt tipped...have you tried the we r memory keepers mini cinch binding tool I'm debating which to get as I have arthritis some times in my fingers which limit my art time... I could just use the minch cinch to punch for me then sew the book instead of using the wires as I really think the thread goning thru spine of book is more organic looking...do you think you could do a review some time in the future with this tool and just sew instead using the cinches?... thanks enjoyed your video. I subscribed to your channel..just a small hint if you need bigger holes you can get a old forktine and use pliers to bend back- upwards the tines you dont need and use a block of wood and small mallet driving the fork into leather making hole larger also can be used on thick watercolor paper also....you might already know this technique but it's a old school upholstery tech my grandfather used when he needed larger holes for furniture fabric reupholstering....many safe and peaceful blessings to you today in your artistic journey of creating wonderful books...mikelle art mom🎨✍🧵🤓

      I haven’t tried their cincher but I have other brands that works pretty well!
