I think switching to an ergonomic keyboard early on is a great idea. I realized it too late. Three years ago, when I started looking for a split keyboard, I was already dealing with severe herniated disc issues and wrist pain.
I'm in the same boat. I now have tendonitis on both sides. Been dealing with daily pain for about a year now, and even though I'm split/alice and vertical mouse on all setups, most of the damage is done. Sucks!
05:00, for clarity, the Q11 is a split 75XT (not a TKL, although the difference is minimal, and size-wise they may be extremely similar if not the same). It's not the ideal 75, as it loses a key in the right navigation column, which is a really useful key position. The XT refers to the extra left column. There isn't really any common way to specific 1 vs. 2 XT columns, and I've never seen 3+, although at that point just add a numpad Also it's an integrated plate, which may not be a dealbreaker for some, but is a serious "this product is cheap crap" marker. It's Keychron though, and it was likely necessary for them to keep the price in line with the rest of their models. (Since split requires essentially 2 cases instead of 1) This keyboard is they gave it the QPro/Max treatment with wireless and a proper plate could be the best readily available split 75, as the only other option I can think of would be the Keebio Sinc (anything without QMK/VIA/VIAL compatibility does not count)
I fully agree with I'd love to see more options. I have a Feker Galaxy80 I recently got for gaming but it practically hurts to go back to that. As a larger guy, having the split has helped my wrists a ton to not be angled quite as much and I keep my split about shoulder width apart. I found a pretty affordable one in the plastic tier that I swapped out the Cherry MX Brown's for Epomaker Flamingo's that I'm also running in that Galaxy80. I'm currently using the Royal Kludge S70. Which can be found on Amazon for around the $120 price tag when it's in stock.
My dygma raise 2 finally shipped after i ordered it in march. It was pre-order for the new keyboard so the delay is to be expected, but I'm super excited for it to show up and its slightly cheaper than the sygma defy
I am super jealous! I love the Defy, but my only complaint is I don't think columnar is my #1 favorite layout, and 8 thumb cluster keys is JUST over the line for too many. For me at least, hahaha. I'm super interested in the Raise 2 and will most likely pick one up for myself!
I have a lot of ergo keyboards. A really good one with an affordable price is the Keychron v10 max. I am using it regularly. The most comfortable for me is the glove80. An x-bows nature is also a good keyboard but it requires some learning from a staggered keyboard. The next year the uhk80 from ultimate hacking keyboard may be a good one
Oh great tip on remapping CTRL -> Caps Lock, I can prob count the number of times I've (intentionally) used caps lock on one hand, having control up there for easier pinky access sounds nice ^_^
Oh man - I don't know if I'm the best person for that LOL. I LOVE mechanical keyboards, but I also hate the faux-scarcity, group buy heavy nature of it. I'm a cynical bastard when it comes to that. Don't know if I could do coverage of it objectively XD. Maybe on my other channel when I get into 3D printing or Resin casting keycaps myself!
08:10 Keychron Q15 appears to be an ortholinear 60%, pretty rare general layout though as you mentioned There isn't any reason ortholinear keyboards have to have all 1u keys. The "ortholinea" part generally refers to the alphas, although often they do keep 1u for most everything else. See Keebio FoldKB for an example of an ortholinear 60% that keeps compatibility with traditional keycap sets even more than the Q15
Tenting was the biggest comfort improvement for me, so I wish you slipped in the point that you /can/ tent any split just by putting a book or something under one half of each split. It is a shame that all the keyboards with tent kits are so expensive but tenting doesn't have to be fancy. I also would've loved your opinion on a keywell keyboard. Time to find a manufacturer who needs content!
While I love a good DIY, using something as unstable as book to simulate tenting isn't a solution I would suggest XD BUT, that's only because a small side project of mine has been a universal keyboard tenting kit that can be 3d printed for very very cheap, that would be adjustable and purpose built. A book would help you figure out if you have any issues that need solving but can't say I'd recommend that long term. I'v never heard of Keywell! I'll check it out :)

06:46 moon lander is still columnar layout. Stagger by columns. Ortholinear means "ortho" = same, linear = lines, i.e., a grid of keys
