      Under the income driven repayment plan and making 120 qualifying payments, and working for a qualifying employer the last three years in the program my payment was zero dollars

    Thank u for sharing I just applied for the Save program paying off my grad loans I am paying under a $100 dollars. Congress need to keep this program in place and help today tomorrow and future borrowers.❤❤❤

    As a young guy struggling to find my footing in life and making little income, thank god for SAVE allowing me more time to save money to tackle my principle without a monthly bill and interest eating all my income. BUT we MUST have publicly funded college that lets our populace get accreditation without debt. This SAVE plan is far from enough

    What if you have 10 years in paying with the IBR? Will those 10 years count toward the 20-25 year forgiveness if you switch to the SAVE or does the time start over?
    Also, I think there isn't an income cap on the SAVE like there is with the IBR. The IBR caps out at the traditional payment amount. Monthly payments on SAVE will continue to go up with income.

    Can I pay more than the minimum payment on the Save program?

    Can SAVE program be challenged in court?

    • @Semelem
      @Semelem ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Anything can be challenged in court; however considering this is really just tweaking a previously-existing plan it’s hard to see any challenge holding up. My bigger concern would be a future administration trying to get rid of SAVE

    Q. What happens to all the interest that was added on to the loans before SAVE?

    • @Penny.22
      @Penny.22 ปีที่แล้ว

      They will be added to your principal unfortunately so if you are able -pay the accumulated interest before September 1st.

    Everyone should pay as little as humanly possible on these predatory student loans. There should have never been capitalized interest on education loans in the first place! When the Higher Education Act was passed in 1965, student loans were designed to be INTEREST FREE. Dentists should not be kept in debt for SERVING THEIR FELLOW AMERICANS with healthcare.

    Within the SAVE program,“You may have to pay income tax on any amount that is forgiven”. That’s the catch 😂

    • @ellejaydotson5406
      @ellejaydotson5406 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It depends on the state. It’s only like 4 states that are going to tax the forgiveness and it’s only state tax.

    • @itssteve6018
      @itssteve6018 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      What if there is no income tax in your state?

    • @ellejaydotson5406
      @ellejaydotson5406 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@itssteve6018 - Then they won’t tax it. MN, IN, NC and MS are the only states that are taxing student loan forgiveness and again, it’s only state tax. WI, AR and CA are under review. They haven’t decided yet.

    Stop talking over each other please. And ending each sentence in a guttural whisper. Stressing me out.
