- It sounds shocking, but it’s a reality we can’t ignore - and this isn’t just about folks burdened with 6-figure student loan debts. Now, even if you have a smaller loan balance, you have a path to student loan forgiveness. It’s the new SAVE repayment plan that’s making it possible. Listen in as we explore key factors shifting borrowers away from repayment toward forgiveness, from the increase in discretionary income allowances to the potential for accelerated forgiveness. You’ll discover the key moves you should consider and why freeing yourself from student loan debt could happen sooner than you think.
The married filing separately part is huge. My wife has loans. I don't and I have the higher income. She pays zero dollars on her loans. I do pay higher on my taxes but it makes sense based on her loan amounts. The SAVED plan might allow us to have kids and have her raise them while they are young and avoid student loan payments - start a family. If we had $500 per month payments, we might just get divorced on paper or not start a family.
Always appreciate the podcast and plethora of information I have learned. I am just afraid that the SAVE plan will not be around for long so my path to forgiveness may be extended because I consolidated this year for the payment count. I’ve had loans since 2006, and consolidated them in 2012, then again recently because not all of the loans were consolidated. I’m hopeful forgiveness will come in 7 years but I’m not sure if the SAVE
Plan will still be around
The main issue is DEALING WITH us dept of education. Unless there's been some dramatic change, the incompetence and "one size fits", losing records etc is too much
appreciate the info! 👍
How can I apply to a SAVE
Great video! I enjoyed watching this!
Thank you
💯 ❤
It can’t be trusted least with Fedloans. Extra payments weren’t going to principle but future interest so during COVID we put extra in bank and paid off one loan at 0%! Do your homework because a faith based hospital in mental health didn’t qualify as an employer so still 36 payments away so moved to save now I’m not with a certified employment. I’m independent contractor for my own financial literacy based business and a rideshare provider
I got forgiveness
I make $110k and I'm single with $25k student loans balance. I've been repaying on an IDR for 10 years, do I have any chance of forgiveness?
You make 110K a year and you’re on an IDR? Pay it off man … 😊
