@Chris - Thanks for the shoutout! You described my 855 very well! This is the guitar that gave me the confidence to play strong, and to be unafraid to fill a room with the sound of a strum along with my voice. So glad to see it make a return!
ALSO - Many thanks to John and Cooper with an assist from Ramon for the great service as I recently test drove the 858e…and yes, it came home with me! Well done @AlamoMusic !!
Can you tell I love the Taylor 12-String?

Absolutely love the 855e 12!! That's my dream 12 string. I have a friend that has an original 855e. I was fortunate to play it once and was blown away by the sound, look and playability! Great Video!

    Bring back the dreads!
Just bought a 314ce LTD about a month ago and I love it, but if I had known these were coming out, I probably would’ve held out for the 810.

I have a 1978 855 Serial #565. It's my favorite 12 string to play. Volume and sustain is off the charts so to speak. I'm considering installing an Audio Amulet pickup from Trance Audio. Neil Young uses them in both of his 855s. They are special order 3 way pickups. The standard is just 2 way. Glad to see Taylor decided to make it again!

I have a couple of Taylor’s, a 1990 512 and a 1994 410. Both are great guitars and very playable. I like there 90’s guitars the best, simple basic designs that play well and sound good.

Guys, I have a GAMC Taylor, which was a "limited series", precursor to the 514, I believe. It is a wonderful guitar for finger style and light to medium strumming. It is cedar/mahogany and is my favorite Taylor guitar.

I remember going into Big Dudes Music in KCMO in 1976 to buy a guitar. Taylor and Martin were available. I was an ignorant 20 year old. The "salesman" suggested I go by tone. I bought a T-shirt that I still wear.
I would hate to think that my first Taylor was a throwback, but I do have a few Martin's and I am open minded. I did like these today.

Most excellent! Recently got a ‘92 555 for a song on Reverb and it sounds magnificent, like an orchestra. So glad to see the return of the 855. Anyone interested should jump on this. The 855 or 555 was good enough for Prince, Neil Young (Sugar Mountain in the film Rust Never Sleeps), John Stewart, and Leo Kottke. And Cooper, way to shred on 12!!

This is so smart on the part of Taylor and as Bob Taylor enters his twilight years, what a great way to memorialize the models that established what has become the biggest guitar builder success story over the past 50 years. C.F. Martin has their iconic models as does Gibson, Taylor is all about innovation, but I feel like with this legacy collection they are establishing the untouchables, the ones that we'll be able to continue to buy to original spec moving forward. Their icons. Someday when Andy hands off the reigns sometime in the distant future, he can add his most successful models during this time to the legacy collection... I have been a big skeptic turned fan this year.

I’m curious to how the V-Bracing has been selling over the years. I could have sworn I saw in a video that Taylor overhauled their machines to VBracing. Seem’s as if maybe they are going back? I’m sure it’s not as black and white as that, but I would imagine if Vbracing was out of this park selling well then this series wouldn’t happen.
I’m glad they did, I switched to the V and ended up not liking it. Happy to see the X bracing back.

Oh well. I've been saving for a dreadnought for a while (wanted to get a Yamaha FG9R) and discovering the 810e throws me off balance. To anyone who's reading this: If you had to choose between the Taylor 810e and the Yamaha FG9R, which one would you pick and why? I'd be interested in your opinion.
The two things I am worried about most is a) playability and b) the neck shape. The Taylor standard carve works really well for me and I'm not sure whether Yamaha's rounded C will be as comfortable for me. I don't have the option to test the two guitars before buying.

I’m looking to get my daughter a guitar and trying to decide between the Taylor mini and the Yamaha fs800. What’s your guys opinion on the two? Is there a chance you could do a comparison video on these two guitars?

    • @Wolf-4D
      @Wolf-4D หลายเดือนก่อน +1

I don't know the Yamaha you mentioned so I can't speak to that.
I have a Gibson 1952 J-185 and a couple of Taylor guitars (GS Mini Sapele, 224ce Koa Deluxe and a 912ce Builder's Edition WHB). In my opinion you probably can't go wrong with a GS Mini.
I would be lying if I told you that there was no difference between the expensive 912ce and the GS Mini Sapele as far as playability goes. However, I have to say the GS Mini plays almost as well. In any case, playabiltiy is great, especially for beginners. I was really surprised that the difference in playability compared to the 912ce is by far not as big as you would expect and in itself certainly doesn't justify the 5500 Euro price difference.
The GS Mini Sapele is really easy to play and I would definitely recommend it for beginners. The strings Taylor puts on the GS Minis are 13s, so you might want to change those to a ligher string gauge. Even with the 13s the GS Mini is fun to play for me though, and the super short scale length certainly helps, too. The neck shape and width also are very comfortable on the GS Mini. The same goes for my 224ce Koa Deluxe. Here, as well, playability for this app. 1800 Euro guitar isn't quite as good as on the 912ce, but there is not a huge difference to the 912ce (or the GS Mini) and it is also very easy to play. It seems that Taylor sets up their guitars really well, even in the entry level price ranges. Whether or not the same is true for Yamaha entry level guitars I don't know.
If you can, you should test both guitars you mentioned in a music store before buying and make up your own mind. The Yamaha seems to be a bit cheaper than a Taylor GS Mini. If she's a beginner, you might do your daughter a favor by spending 100 to 150 bucks more on the cheapest Taylor GS Mini. Learning how to play the guitar on an instrument like that is so much more fun. If the Yamaha plays just as well you could save those 100 to 150 bucks, of course....

The first 100 are hand signed, but outside of that it isn't limited at this time. That doesn't mean they will produce the forever but any timeframes or changes in the future would just be speculation on our part. - Chris
