- He thought it was a just a hot pepper, he soon found out that it was the hottest pepper in the world grown by the man who founded the pepper, Ed Currie. He was smoked by it. Later that evening he almost went to the ER due to his stomach burning. I almost felt bad, almost.
With friends like that who needs enemies
The initial burn is the easy part but the aftermath stomach cramping is no joke.
Tell me about it. The burn is really not much worse than a Ghost pepper… however, 9 hours later, I am STILL dealing with the stomach pain.
I also get the worst stomach pains ever when eating super hot peppers and hot sauce with extract.
This is assault. People have been hospitalized after eating this pepper. You couldn't even play fair and warn him it's the hottest pepper? I wouldn't treat an enemy like this, much less a friend. I hate this trend of "cruelty for laughs."

I’ve been there. Ate one with my dad. His reaction to it caused so much laughter for me that when trying to drink milk I shot milk mixed with capsaicin out my nose. Man was my honker swelled for a few hours after that burn.
Unknowingly feeding someone a "super hot" pepper is wrong.
Turn the pepper into a spray, then apply it to the persons toilet paper. They would never try to prank someone with hot peppers again.
@red_array I know that, but this was about using the same thing against the "enemy", lol. You could use Mad Dog 357 that's 9 million Scoville if you wanted maximum damage.
And most civilian pepper sprays are limited in strength.
That's not even maximum anymore. Some stuff is 16million. But this guy ate it in his own terms even if he were tricked. I know what these peppers look like. If someone tries to get me to eat one I'm shoving it down their throat and then gonna beat the red outta their face until they turn black and blue. Yes sir. Most people that try to prank others with peppers are fucked up cause they never eaten a reaper.

I grew one that had a tail that spiraled up last the top. Had the stinger too that super hots tend to have. I drew a angry face on it because I'm that kind of autistic lol. I ate it anyway because I'm that kind of autistic.
I went to Thailand and had some really spicy food.... the only thing that works for this is whiskey! Straight up or on ice. The reaction is from the oil so you need to dissolve the oil with alcohol and numb your mouth at the same time!!! I was able to finish the dish after I drank a fair amount of whiskey!!!!🍺🇺🇸

I’m growing a few of these plants, but God knows why.
Basically, you would use one pepper in like a gallon of chili or salsa, but even then, it would be damn spicy.

So when you get into this hobby, you just HAVE to grow the Carolina Reaper. It’s like mandatory.
My Reaper plants finally showed some flowers opening today, which then turn to peppers, but there’s no guarantee. It’s a crap shoot whether any plant will produce anything based on your growing conditions.

And even though I bought my seeds from Ed Currie, the “inventor” of the Carolina Reaper, there are still question marks in what you actually grow, because of cross pollination issues.
So we’ll see, but in addition to the seeds I’m growing from Ed, I bought two plants from Bonnie Plants, whom he supplies seeds and licenses to sell under the CR name. They’re just flowering now, but growing peppers in South Florida now…with our scorching sun and heavy spring and summer downpours…is a real challenge. Peppers don’t like too much water.

I get those dried just like that from Amazon and I have to say he handled that like a champ if he wasn't used to these peppers. Trick is to use the milk like mouthwash and let it sit there. If you keep drinking the milk it just fills you up and makes you feel worse. Small sips. Later on when you feel it in the stomach Tums will help. Good luck the next day because you are going to be shitting lava haha.

Actually, the exact opposite is true. People that eat superhots will tell you to chew it as long as you can. The more capsaicin that sticks to the inside of your mouth, the less that is going to your stomach.

With that being said, I'm fine stopping at the Ghost Pepper. Reapers are insane, and I hate how it hits the back of your throat in random spots.
The only reason they still hold the record is because it consistently hits that Scoville number. Other varieties, while hotter, aren’t consistently hotter, with duds here and there that fall way below it.
As you may know, Ed Currie…breeder of the Carolina Reaper…has a hotter one called Pepper X that he’s trying to get certified by Guinness. No seeds for sale yet, but nuts like me are dying for them to become available.
I grow Ghost and Scorpions. Use them to make sauces and in marinades. Perfect heat. Fresh are hotter than dried. Next season I'm getting Reapers too.

With extreme chilis ,milk doesn't really help. Saw a guy eat the Carolina and after drinking milk he was still in pain half hour after eating the pepper
I grew these peppers last summer and dried them and then grounded them to make spices. After grinding I open up the grinder and to a whiff to smell the peppers and accidentally snorted some of the girded peppers. Worse pain I’ve ever been through. My legs started shaking and I couldn’t walk for at least an hour. And I’ve eaten a ghost pepper before. These peppers are no joke.

I have a garden full of fresh ones. Y’all are welcome to swing by and try some. A tip that helps is citric acid. Eat a fresh lemon or 10.
You are one of the few smart ones here.. People do not seem to do much research on peppers and capsaicin.. Being an alkaline(capsaicin), it CAN be be semi-neutralized with something acidic(like a lemon). While it will not stop the immediate nerve activity, it will indeed seize duration and calm down the effects from continuing. But in reality, a capsaicin burn doesnt last all that long anyway. 10-20mins MAX.. Usually it is due to lack of prep in your stomach that prolongs affects afterward. But for me, I WANT that 10 minute rush of pain and euphoria! Its why I am a chili head in the first place! It like an addiction to that endorphin dump!
Someone would have to pay me a hell of a lot of money for me to eat one of those again.

The Carolina reaper is no longer the worlds hottest pepper. Pepper X is the new hottest pepper in the world it 1,000,000+. Scovel units, hotter than the Carolina reaper that he just ate. And he should use something citrus to get rid of the pepper oils instead of milk. It works a lot better.

All milk is going to do is make the heat go to your #2s. It's going burn either way. Best is to chew it up well and allow the heat to go away slowly while burning.

Great Value (Walmart brand) Carolina Reaper cheese blend (Carolina reaper, habanero and jalapeño also) is hot enough and I’ve eaten habanero peppers from my garden. They were too intense for me lol.

Im from south east asia and we eat very spicy chillis like nothing, i tried half of Carolina reaper and that thing is crazy! Started sweating, legs shivering, eyes watering like its poisonous. The key is take salt to your mouth and drink hot water.
How to get rid of the spicy taste is not drinking milk or mineral water ... The way is to drink hot water slightly warm .. Believe me .. the spicy taste will quickly disappear . Or by bending over and opening your mouth ... let the saliva come out by itself .. will quickly reduce the spicy taste . I am from Indonesia, I usually eat spicy food. if it feels too spicy .. we drink hot plain tea slightly warm . cold water. , ice .. ice cream .. milk .. does not help
