Now that I step back and look at it, the DCU is shaping up to be less like Marvel's phase-based approach and more like the animated Justice League and Justice League Unlimited where the heroes/villains are already there and we're just tuning into whatever interesting thing they are doing that week.
Bro, it’s not bright. It’s dull. Everything is based on earth like who asked for that? When you make a green lantern show, an actual show where you can dive into the depth of the universe and the lantern corps, and you base it on earth you know you fucked up already
I'm really glad different corners of the DC comics universe are getting attention in the DCU. Seeing great characters and stories like Swamp Thing in the same universe along with Superman and other JL characters will be great. It gives me hope for a Justice League Dark styled adaptation, too.
Bro, nothing’s actually getting attention because he’s not diving into the deeper DC universe lore, especially with everything being based on earth. It sounds boring as shit.
@allyoucansee590 Supergirl, the second movie, is literally a cosmic adventure set in space, bro. And we're actually _getting_ a Green Lantern Corps this time, so they're obviously going to be diving into Lantern lore and going into space in the near future. Plus, we're getting Swamp Thing, which will explore the horror and mystical side of things with The Green. And there's a show exploring the history of Themyscira. So, not sure what you're talking about.
My top 5 most hyped movies here: 5. Batman Ninja vs. Yakuza League (Really liked the first one, the Yakuza League look really well animated) 4. Teen Titans (Excited moreso than the lineup than anything, hoping Blue Beetle is in it since I loved Xolo Maridueña's portrayal of the character) 3. Bane & Deathstroke (Two of my favorite DC villains, really wanting to see what this movie is about, hopefully this and Clayface will take us out of the villain movie slump we seem to be in) 2. Brave and the Bold/The Batman Part II (Genuinely can't pick which one I want to see more, just some good old Batman action) 1. Superman (Like you said, we need to see a proper, hopeful Superman on the big screen again, Gunn is definitely cooking with this one) Also, are you working on a follow-up to the "What if Ultron was the first MCU saga villain" video? I really liked the first one and want to see more
Honestly as much I'm excited for Superman next year I'm genuinely excited for Woman of Tommorow as I loved the comic and it's one of Tom Kings best work and the Brave and The Bold as the Grant Morrison a long with Scott Snyders run are some of my favorite Batman content and it's awesome that we're finally getting to see the Batfamily in live action after years of being benched and a fantastical Batman maybe an Under the Red Hood sequel could happen
And it's all starting in less than 10 days. It's strange to think about that. A brand new DC universe soon. We'll see where it goes, but I believe in James Gunn.
Yeah Gunn did say he plans on using Milestone characters but then there was a rumour the other day there are licencing issues, hopefully that's not the case
He means confirmed by official announcement to be in development, as opposed to unannounced/unconfirmed movies like Sgt. Rock or Teen Titans that the press has written about without any studio confirmation. You're talking about movies that have a finalized script and have been greenlit for production. Superman (which has wrapped), Supergirl, and Dynamic Duo are the only movies so far with finalized scripts that were greenlit for production. Batman Pt. 2 is confirmed, but they're still waiting on Reeves to finish up his script. Once he's ready, hopefully soon, it'll head into production. Swamp Thing is actively in development, but no word yet on where Mangold is with the script he's writing. Same for Brave and the Bold - Gunn confirmed it's still currently in active development, but no word on where they are in the process.
@ ok thanks. I didn’t get the confirmed officially to be in development part. I was thinking the ones confirmed and with with finished to nearly finished scripts, shooting, done and production start dates
@nysimcharles33 Yeah, basically "announced" = confirmed to be in development, and "greenlit" = has finalized script and is given the go-ahead to start production
I think also the fact that Alan Tudyk said Creature Commando's Clayface is more visceral and monstrous, and not having thespian actor jokes, points to him having a darker personality, which definitely fits with Mike Flanagan
Actually James Mangold has confirmed that Swamp Thing will be PG-13. The Sgt. Rock film has NOT been confirmed, also the Clay Face film is a false rumor, I think Alan Tudyk would continue to voice Clay Face if he appeared in Live Action. I think the Bane and Deathstroke team up film would kind of feel like Deadpool & Wolverine.
Where's the souce for Mangold's PG-13 comment. I've been following that project very closely and I haven't heard him mention a word about Swamp Thing's rating.
Despite never having heard of them until the announcement 2 years ago I’m arguably most excited for the Authority film, barring it remains a live action cinema release film. The characters can work as a pastiche of both the boys and the justice league whilst having interesting and unique characters. I hope they give it a combo of the avengers and the suicide squad treatment. With a director like mathew Vaughn or Gunn himself could make this a real surprise gem and give the DCU a new team that can build interest.
At this time, all I want is a really good Superman movie. If James Gunn and WB don’t stick the landing with “Superman 2025”, then the entire DCU is dead in the water. None of these other DCU projects mean ANYTHING to me unless they nail Superman first and foremost. I don’t want another soulless Superman movie that’s just empty spectacle and tacked on references to the comics that don’t amount to anything. I want a good Superman movie that actually makes me care about Superman, where he’s written and treated like an actual character. Not to get off topic, but I absolutely LOVE the characterization and emotional depth the writers have given Superman in the newest animated series, “My Adventures with Superman”, so Superman 2025’s take on the character has a lot to live up to. With that said, I’m still pretty skeptical about the new movie. Just because James Gunn has found some success with a few superhero properties (Keyword being "some"), that doesn't mean he'll succeed with EVERY superhero property he's given, let alone Superman of all things. Even if James Gunn has the best of intentions for Superman, that’s not gonna stop the executives at WB from tampering with it and pushing the movie they “think” will be successful. Hell, Superman 2025, supposedly, has a budget of $360 million, which is INSANE! That’s almost 3 times the budget for the first “Iron Man (2008)!” That budget, alone, leads me to believe that Superman 2025 is just gonna be another bloated mess just like that piece-of-shit movie “Batman v Superman.” I'm not trying to bum people out who are looking forward to Superman 2025 and I don’t wanna go into the movie ready to hate on it like the Snyderverse fans already are (I absolutely HATED the Snyderverse movies and don’t support those movies or its fanbase in ANY way, especially that universe’s awful take on Superman). I’m just so tired of being disappointed by bad Superman adaptations that don’t value or understand Superman’s character or his appeal. I like James Gunn (I’ll always have fond memories of seeing the “Guardians of the Galaxy” movies in theaters), but I don’t know if he’s the right guy to helm the material. If shows like "Superman and Lois" and "My Adventures with Superman" can tell compelling stories with Superman, with strong characterization and emotional depth, with only a FRACTION of a Hollywood budget, then there is absolutely NO excuse for Superman 2025 to be anything less than "above average." I just want a good Superman movie made by people who ACTUALLY give a shit about Superman. Is that really too much to ask?

My top five movies are Superman, Teen Titans, Clayface, Swamp Thing, and The Authority. Swamp Thing as a horror movie would be fkin amazing, Clayface is my favorite Batman villain and him gets a film such as horror thriller tragedy is in character and I wanted Mike Flannegin to direct it if he wrote it that’s fine as well, Superman is my favorite superhero from DC him Spider-Man are my comfort characters so his new film next year I hope has a great story and stories to get behind, The Authority is in an interesting spot because of how this team operates including them being connected to Superman as well, Teen Titans and X-Men are my favorite superhero teams of all time I really do hope Teen Titans does come into live action idc the lineup but long as have my boiii Nightwing in I’ll be fine. Bane & Deathstroke is also I think is sleeper on this listen can become really interesting about how this dynamic can work especially with their connections to Nightwing and Batman. Hope for DCU!!!!
I really hope Swamp Thing is good cause I really need the Occult aspect of DC to get more shine. My favorite part of DC and I would absolutely kill for a live action Justice League Dark finally. Knowing James Gunn he will probably not use Keanu Reeves as Constantine thankfully and we might get a comic accurate r rated Constantine.
By connecting games, animated shows/movies and live action... And quite possibly comic series the gunn universe has the potential to be the best ever cinematic universe with character jumping from animation to live action to whatever else. The most similar universe was the animated movies universe that ended with jld apokolips war and honestly if they do something similar to that they will change pop culture
Logan was great but I think The Suicide Squad from James Gunn is right there with the greatest R rated comic movies ever but Deadpool and Wolverine blew em all away as the greatest R rated comic movie. Joker is tied with Logan and The Suicide Squad.
In 2021, an animated“Metal Men” movie was confirmed and will be directed by John Musker and Rob Clements (Aladdin, The Little Mermaid, Hercules, Hunchback of Notre Dame)
The Brave and the Bold being retitled is just from Production Weekly, and James Gunn himself said that they are wrong on a lot of things, so I wouldn't trust that. Also, if I remember correctly, he did refer to it as The Brave and the Bold in one of his recent interviews.
Actual deathstroke and bane have worked together before. In a lego movie called gotham city breakout where bane and deathstroke become rulers of a hidden tribe called the trogwogs and batman, batgirl, and knightwing have to free them from their mind control. It even goes into how deathstroke and batman in that universe where taught by the same master
Wow, that is an ill-fitting Superman suit. I am sure that the movies will be fine and the actors will do admirably in their roles, but I am still disappointed that they did not use either Henry Cavill or Tyler Hoechlin as Superman. the other confirmed movies: - The Batman - Part 3 - A Black-led Superman film written by Ta-Nehisi Coates and produced by J. J. Abrams - A sequel to Constantine (2005) with director Francis Lawrence and Keanu Reeves - An animated film based on the comic The Jurassic League (2022) written by Brian Lynch and produced by Gunn and Safran
It's not really an adaptation of that story, but I do think it's pulling from the themes in Kingdom Come. Instead of an older Superman coming out of retirement to tackle the new status quo among newer superheroes, it'll be an up and coming Superman challenging the status quo among the established heroes, while reminding people what it means to be a "hero."
No, it's closer to Superman vs the Elite or Superman vs the Authority and Gunn said he was inspired by All Star Superman. Kingdom Come is a completely different story, that takes place at a different time and it has a different tone.
@@BaithNaYes, Gunn said the tone and feel of All-Star Suprman was a definite influence. But tbh, the themes in Superman vs The Authority / vs. Elite were also influenced by the themes in Kingdom Come. The plots of each are very different, though.
These are just ideas bro, it is uncertain if they will make it or not & they're not even confirmed so , many projects could be way different than rumours
Upcoming DC Projects 2024-2025 1. Superman & Lois Season 4 (currently streaming) 2. Creatures Commandoes 3. Harley Quinn Season 5 4. Batman Ninja Vs Yakuza League early 2025) 5. The Sandman Season 2 6. Superman 7. Peacemaker Season 2 8. Aztec Batman: Clash of Empires 9. My Adventures With Superman Season 3 10. Batman: The Capped Crusader Season 2 11. Bat-Family
It probably will happen but we all ready now that the first chapter of DCU with have 24 projects and we now what most of them are and since they will reveal movie a long time before they come out compared to shows most of the remaining spots on the slate of chapter 1 will probably be taken by other tv show but maybe we will get it in chapter 1 if we are lucky unlikely but us wonder women fan can hope
I’m Bruce Wayne himself and ive live the Azteca version of my life before this is crazy to know now but i remember the man’s name who killed Batman’s parents
0:47 Well, I don't care how much James Gunn will try, he will NEVER get on the same brutality level of the two shows "THE BOYS" & "INVINCIBLE". Whether it's with Superman or The Suicide Squad.

As long as that clay face movie has Batman as a major part of it and how batman affects the villains instead of how the villains affect Batman it could be good. They are going to have to put Batman in the title or this movie won’t make any money. I think many people know who clayface is but the general audience won’t do maybe have the title be clayface vs batman
I really, really, REALLY wish the Bane/Deathstroke movie is secretly a Secret Six movie because they would fit perfectly in James Gunn's DCU. Plus I'm sick and tired of the suicide squad the only good thing that came that being Mainstream is the James Gunn film and that's it. BTW how come I never heard about a animated film about Dick and Jason in the DCU and it's in a New style of animation I never heard about until now! 🤯
Now that I step back and look at it, the DCU is shaping up to be less like Marvel's phase-based approach and more like the animated Justice League and Justice League Unlimited where the heroes/villains are already there and we're just tuning into whatever interesting thing they are doing that week.

Teen titans needs to slap 🙏
DC forever
9:36 Didn't Gunn say it was a lie, he was never planning on actually making the movie
I hope the DCU leads to Batman Beyond
Where does Gi robot get all his ammo
Superman's plot loosly follows the Kingdom Come story, the same place he got his logo from
It's not really an adaptation of that story, but I do think it's pulling from the themes in Kingdom Come.
Matt reeves said himself that the script is complete.
can you make a marvel version of the dcamu
off topic but you should do a spiderman cinematic universe
okay but darkside vs JL???? when
I love dc
And i trust james gunn
You already know some crybabies out there are gonna complain. DC fans are the biggest crybabies.
Could Jensen ankles play live action red hood?
I'm confused, why so many villain movies. Doesn't seem logical
Maybe he’s just trying to do something new for once
We don't know much about them at the moment. Also as long as they stay villains I'm down
We don't know if these are even villain focused or if they're just in a project about a hero
These are just ideas bro, it is uncertain if they will make it or not & they're not even confirmed so , many projects could be way different than rumours
Why there going with animated films
Upcoming DC Projects 2024-2025
1. Superman & Lois Season 4 (currently streaming)
2. Creatures Commandoes

6. Superman

What's "Bat-Family"? An animated movie?
Also, Superman and Lois ends next week 😭
Bat-Family is an animated Series Sequel to The Merry Little Batman
Btw i'm feeling sad because Superman & Loisis ending
Does anyone know if a new Wonder Woman movie will be done????
It probably will happen but we all ready now that the first chapter of DCU with have 24 projects and we now what most of them are and since they will reveal movie a long time before they come out compared to shows most of the remaining spots on the slate of chapter 1 will probably be taken by other tv show but maybe we will get it in chapter 1 if we are lucky unlikely but us wonder women fan can hope
I’m Bruce Wayne himself and ive live the Azteca version of my life before this is crazy to know now but i remember the man’s name who killed Batman’s parents
You forgot about Jurassic League lol

Well, I don't care how much James Gunn will try, he will NEVER get on the same brutality level of the two shows "THE BOYS" & "INVINCIBLE". Whether it's with Superman or The Suicide Squad.
LOL "TSS & PM & CC" VERY MUCH BRUTAL LOL ALSO "SUPERMAN" FiLM DEFINITELY "FAMILY FRIENDLY".👍.
Thank you so much for this amazing video! A bit off-topic, but I wanted to ask: My OKX wallet holds some USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). How can I transfer them to Binance?
As long as that clay face movie has Batman as a major part of it and how batman affects the villains instead of how the villains affect Batman it could be good. They are going to have to put Batman in the title or this movie won’t make any money. I think many people know who clayface is but the general audience won’t do maybe have the title be clayface vs batman
I will not be happy until we get a R rated Supergirl movie! 😂
when are you gonna fancast the dc villains or at least just the batman villains
This is the most random universe ever
Can DCU will be as good as DCAU?
8:18 is guadagnino really that difficult to say bro?😂
Don't downplay the releases on Max. Gunn so far has 2 shows and 1 movie direct to Max and all 3 are bangers
It would be great if James Gunn redid
Deathstroke/bane? Hmmm
Is true there is an untitled DC movie in May 2026?
Creature se 2 & teen titans or bat beyond
ethan peck for batman
James Gunn needs to release the creature commandos soon because ppl are running out of content ideas 😂
Comes out in early-ish December
