Great work squatch and senior. The only tit bit that I can give is that when putting a screw or bolt turn it in the loosen direction first until you feel it drop into the thread and then tighten. I have not cross threaded anything since someone put me on to that.

    As for the flat washer.
A older follow mechanic told me one time, always install a flat washer bebore the lock washer on aluminum pieces being assembled. Indeed it was most be seen in those days. Today, newer bolts style have the washer already in them often.
    Nice work.

I have enjoyed the carburetor rebuild very much. I am hoping to see a series on the magneto rebuild too. I remember that you showed a magneto shaft that was broken. Have you ever tried to make a replacement shaft to repair one of those and I also thought about the possibility of making a replacement gear out of aluminum. I remember that GM used to use a fiber compound cam gear in their in-line 6 cylinder engines which were prone to failure. Aftermarket gears were made of aluminum that would last practically forever. I saw that was reused in a rebuilt engine that outlasted that engine and was installed in another one to replace the fiber gear that had stripped off a bunch of teeth.

Looks real good, Senior! I always preferred a product called Cast Blast for painting carburetors, but recently have started using cast grey colored engine paint, and it holds up VERY well to grease/oil/gasoline. Little tricks of the trade! Love the rebuild series on the carburetor!

Clearly explained and laid out, every step of the way. Thank you for sharing, very satisfying and comforting to watch such a wealth of experience and tricks and tips. Squatch Senior - the carburettor wizard! Shout from the UK! PS just realised that we spell it with two 't's (to waste ink) and you spell it with one 't' which is why we say it differently - Although I'm English, I do like the way Americans say carburetor(ttor) better than us! :)

Wonderful skill and knowledge that you share and preserve for the future! Thank you so much!
What I would offer as a variant to your technique is that you could use self-closing tweezers instead of the needle-nose vice grips. I've also used a set of long-nose duckbill pliers with a rubber band added to make a larger version of some of the self-closing tweezers. I also have a set of sliding-jaw thread starting screwdrivers to avoid having to use a "tack" or some grease to hold a non-magnetic screw while starting. While the ones that I have use a sliding jaw and a conventional bit, you can look at the Klein K14 (Philips) and K34 (flat blade) series as something that would hold without grease. But the important thing, as always, is whatever works for you. The procedural tips and wisdom you provide are really worthwhile. Thank you!

A great set of videos on rebuilding this carburetor. I am amazed how complicated it is for a simple starting engine. I am comparing it to the Lister D engine I have which is a simple spraybar type carb.

Fascinating to see this tear down. My car uses Stromberg carbs which I believe come from the same manufacturer. The Stroms are an absolute horror show, more so as they are a pair. They can be knocked out of balance by a bad pothole, a bump in the engine bay or even a butterfly passing gas in Tanzania! 🤣🤣🤣
Might need to change to something simpler!!!!
