If you type into TH-cam the words Megan Rapinoe and filter them by most views all the videos are of her talking. No videos of any great football highlights like when you type in a player like Ronaldinho, Ronaldo Messi ect ect. They are all talking videos where she is talking about how unfair life is? At the end of the day there are tens of thousands of football players way better than Megan Rapinoe. Maybe even hundreds of thousands of boys aged 12 to 18 who are far better at this sport than she is and they don't get paid anything.
I like Megan as much as the next guy/girl...what makes her a soccer icon even the great Marta I wouldn't think of her as a soccer icon...the pool of women in the sport is extremely small and nowhere near as popular as the men's game...she's great in her own right but soccer legend,if she were to be in an African country visiting how much fanfare would she get and outside of the equal pay and social issues she's stood for how does that affect football(a global sport) as a whole. Love her and what she stands for but soccer icons don't exist in North America leave alone the US...I guess Hugo Sanchez mightve a shout. She has an over-inflated opinion of herself. In terms of being good at her profession then she's in the bottom percentile when you consider male & female players. The overwhelming majority of male professional players are better at doing their jobs than she is because they generate far more success (i.e. Money / Sponsorship / Fans) for their employers (The soccer club) than she does. She may have won World Cups but the standard of women's soccer is so poor that her success is minor in comparison.
