FFVII Rebirth was one of the best games I have ever played. It was so good I played 100 hours of it in approximately 2 weeks, I couldn't stop, any free time I had I put it in the game. I feel mostly what you feel about this game. Visual masterpiece. Attention to detail was above and beyond compared to most AAA games these days. Everything about the game was outstanding - scenery, story, combat, side stories actually being engaging (most of them at least). Let's forget this game is the second act of a 1997 original game - if you regard it as a stand-alone new game, this is still a 10/10. I thought I was gonna be like "oh nice nostalgia moments - really nice current-gen looks" but ended up saying "I wish I could erase my memory and experience of playing this game so I can live it up for the first time once more." Nice review dude. Keep at it.
@@Delbino2000 Thank you. I appreciate it. You are so right. As a stand alone rpg I would still say it’s a 10/10 as well. Square really put their best forward here. Thank you for the video and sorry for your loss. Thankfully you were able to reach a point that you were able to play Rebirth. I could sit here and type out a wall of text about anything and everything FF7 but I'll try and keep it short :). In regards to not knowing what to do next, this is my first video of yours so I am not sure if you have tried it before, but I would recommend giving modded FF7 on PC a chance. You basically need any PC copy of the game, the 7th Heaven Mod Manager, and the UI is nowadays much more user friendly than all other previous FF7 modding experiences. I would highly recommend at least adding the New Threat 2.0 mod. There's a number of mods that sort of "overhaul" the game in terms of story and other elements, and they are all great, but unfortunately they would conflict if adding more than one, but NT is a great starting place. For example, I think it would conflict but the Shinra Archeology Cut is in active development and receives regular updates but it does things such as adding back in missing areas and scenes from the game code that developers cut from the original and restores them and all dialogue as faithfully as possible. There's Echo-s which I think also does some re-translation but is fully voice acted. Both awesome mods, but I recommend New Threat because it's such a refreshing and entirely new experience. It's the closest thing to playing Remake/Rebirth if they existed for OG, in terms of twists and turns. Then there's all sorts of visual and audio/music mods, difficulty/challenge mods, etc. I would also recommend Cosmos Gaia mod (you can find vids on youtube) which basically breaks the camera free from its restraints and treats it like a more modern camera set up, allowing you to zoom in and out on the world map and see a huge portion of the globe from a brand new perspective. There are tons of mods and I would be happy to recommend more, but to keep it "simple" I would suggest at least trying New Threat 2.0, adding Cosmos Gaia, OH, the 60FPS mod, and Tsunamods Arranged Soundtrack. You know what while we're here, I'll also throw in Ninostyle Chibi or HD for the character models and Enhanced Stock UI (ESUI) with the Finishing Touch UI theme. Again, there's plenty more but I am trying to restrain myself, lol. The other thing I wanted to say is that if you are not yet already doing so, watching all of the other great FF7 creators definitely helps with the feeling of not knowing what to do next. To list a few, in case you are not already familiar: Maximilian_Dood, BltzZ, NightSkyPrince, aitakimochi (Audrey), Schrodingersbabyseal, The Night Sky Prince, ProfNoctis, SubTXT, Sector 6, Final FanTV, GenesisVII, and I'll throw in some cool twitter people too, @TylorHepnerArt, @kuraudoxs, @Genki_JPN. There are a million other names I could throw out but I did say I would try and keep it "short", lmao. Hopefully all this offers some cool suggestions for you or anyone else reading this who was not familiar. Thanks again for the video!
Feel the same way about the last side quest 😅 but everything else you touched upon is true. From the environments, combat system, etc. Truly is a fallout moment from leaving remake and going into rebirth.
This is neither solely a remake nor a continuation of the OG.. it's both, depending where you coming from, or how you choose to interpret it. That's how masterfuly this game has been designed..
FF7 is my favourite game but to me the revamped story is a load of nonsense. Thought the 1st part wasn't up to much, but Rebirth was quite enjoyable with plenty to do. Again, the story ain't that great imo, and the ending had absolutely zero impact with me. I found Ifalnas death was done better.
I hope they manage to thoroughly explain the concepts they're going with in the 3rd game. A lot of people are confused about the ending of rebirth, and while everything can be understood pretty well by using the original game as a reference, many of the concepts that inspired the story are very foreign to western audiences. Although, I will say, confusion is absolutely what people are supposed to feel throughout the story.
Definitely agree that visually Rebirth is the gold standard right now of how beautiful a video game can look despite minor problems. But paying 600 for PS4/5 would not get us a supercomputer and have to mention would take extra effort of developers to make everything look perfect. Rebirth does even better of transition from the environment's 1 area to another w/o much noticeable delay; in Remake often there r narrow gaps to side step or stairs to climb up slowly to next area probably because the game needs to load and process next area's files; as a software developer myself, I know things need time to load. Not exactly only about visuals, but acceptance that each installment: Remake, Rebirth, and Re___ qualifies as its own independent game w/ enough content and gameplay as a whole worth $60 each. Many ppl hate that Square is trying to cheat making 3x more money by dividing into 3 separate games. But each of the 1st two installments can already give us several tens of hours of playing at least, and bet 3rd one will easily reach closer to 100 for regular game play.
@@briang6652 Love your comment. I just can’t justify $700 on a Ps5 Pro at the moment. The regular PS5 still looks good enough to me. It is going to be very interesting to see what the next install brings.
I tried to complete all the VR fights after beating the game but couldn’t. I couldn’t get over the journey and ending of the game enough to enjoy anything else.
I just got the platinum on my main account. Took some time and planning but was able to do it in 80 hours 21 minutes. I loved this game before it was even released!
Finish rebirth? Keep playing it o/ - I put 400 more hours into it after platinum practicing solo hard vr missions on each character to get every bit of joy out of the combat I could - ended up with a 41 second dark side cloud v full might Odin speed run. Sorry to hear about your friend 😢

It took me some time to move on to my next game and even now Rebirth is still in the back of my mind because there are still stuff left for me to do! For people who choose to ignore the Remake project because it's not 1:1 with the OG, here's my personal take: give 7R a try and if you hate it for some reason, you'll always have the original. I happen to love both 7R and OG, so I'm eating good 😊

It reminded me of what it was like to experience a generational leap in video games. This game deserves all the praise and more. Thank you!
This game feels like more than a game. Its characters sometimes feel real, their stories through 27 years of knowing them feel like real history. I spent 170 hours with it and then a lot of hours seeing it in longplays for the crucial events because I wanted/needed to know how other people did feel with the events. Visually its amazing, the sense os scale and scope of the scenery, its truly magical, the soundtrack is out of this world even the songs of the chocobo races are like better than most games OST for christ sake. And in the gameplay is 10/10. Just thinking of original FFVII, Crisis Core and then Remake/Rebirth and thinking of Cloud and Tifa, the unfourtunate Zack and Aerith never meeting again, Ifalna , Barret and Myrna, Dyne, Marlene, Jessie and the dead Avalanche crew... makes my eyes a bit tearful, and thats much to say for a videogame.
@@micman963 I agree it’s not the best replacement but it makes the game less frantic and slower. Octopath Traveler is a great example of a great turn based system. This is why I’m glad Square makes games featuring both styles of combat.
This game was truly a privilege to experience. So much of what made the original FFVII so special is so lovingly preserved and I can’t help but get emotional about it! I’m so grateful to everyone who clearly worked so hard to do the original game and players justice while also breathing new life into Remake and Rebirth. No simple task. But they did it! @@Delbino2000 Thank you. I appreciate it. You are so right. As a stand alone rpg I would still say it’s a 10/10 as well. Square really put their best forward here. This is why appreciation is so important. We have been fans for decades and from what I play, it seems Square did there best to honor us as fans. Great comment. Thank you for posting it. One Love!
the last time I had this feeling was after I finished zelda tears of the kingdom....ff7 remake and rebirth are video game master piece
Now you have to play it on the PS5 Pro. Looks incredible!!!!!🤯
Feel the same way about the last side quest 😅 but everything else you touched upon is true. From the environments, combat system, etc. Truly is a fallout moment from leaving remake and going into rebirth.
Exactly! Well said ma bredren. One Love!
This is neither solely a remake nor a continuation of the OG.. it's both, depending where you coming from, or how you choose to interpret it. That's how masterfuly this game has been designed..
This game is going to go down as one of the best entries in the Final Fantasy series for me it is neck to neck with the OG VII.
I love the OG and I love the Remake&Rebirth, I'm so happy that they remake it than nothing at all.
Game of the year!
Bless you btw! Im a OG too! Bless up!!
RIP to your friend
Finally I saw you rocking this game heavy glad to see you back in front of the gaming cam 😊
@@Trinistill2 Aw man. It means more than you know to read this comment. Thanks for being a bredren man!
I can respect that. I’m glad you still had a great time playing.
My guy, excellent review/essay. I'd love to see an essay on your takes on XVI.
Edit: I'm so sorry for the loss of your firend.
Its the best Game i ever Played i love every part of it
I hope they manage to thoroughly explain the concepts they're going with in the 3rd game. A lot of people are confused about the ending of rebirth, and while everything can be understood pretty well by using the original game as a reference, many of the concepts that inspired the story are very foreign to western audiences. Although, I will say, confusion is absolutely what people are supposed to feel throughout the story.
Yo! This is a great comment. I totally feel what you are saying. I love stories that makes me theorize about what’s going on. Thanks for this insight.
You nailed it!!
Yo! What do you think about the visuals that make up Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth?
First off, Hail Up Shomatto Always and For Ever!
Second, how you don't want to be party animal when you were singing that Beehive song. How Sway?!
I tried to complete all the VR fights after beating the game but couldn’t. I couldn’t get over the journey and ending of the game enough to enjoy anything else.
💯 agree with everything you said also when I finished it I was completely lost had the chocobo song stuck in my head in work 😂
@@clipzGM Chocobo song for the win! I whistle it all the time when I walk my dog lol. I know… nerdy right.
yeaaaaaah!!
I just got the platinum on my main account. Took some time and planning but was able to do it in 80 hours 21 minutes. I loved this game before it was even released!
@@IxAMxNIGHTMARE That’s dope! I wish I was skilled enough to get platinums. I have so many games to go back to and try lol.
@@Jahbu Sound like me on the library. I'm at 1200 games and I swear 98% of my PS5 time is FF7 Remake and Rebirth. 😂
Very well put words dude ❤
This is my game of the year, for sure!
EDIT
I also do not want to be an ultimate party animal! That side quest is brutal! Lol
Lol! I know right.
I hate that quest xD
Brother I agree with you......
Shout out to Shomatto!
@@robert7737 Thank you ma Bredren. Much appreciated! One Love!
@@alchalant4663 Thank you so muhh ch for your condolences.
Yo! The Odin fight is wild. He crushed me on normal a bunch of times lol.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this excellent game! I think many of us were hit with that post-Rebirth depression, so you're not alone.
I happen to love both 7R and OG, so I'm eating good 😊
100% Agree with you mi bro! Glad you are backing with new content!
Bro I remember your reaction to the first Remake trailer! I was looking all over for you for years! Glad to see you doing well!
@@mortalballgt52 Aw man. Sorry about that had to take some serious time off of TH-cam to focus on my art. I’m back for good now. Thanks for remember me after all this time. One Love!
Yo I'm thankful that you spoke up and said the truth about this game! It is a true masterpiece. It's like you said, I haven't played a game like this in a while. It made me feel like a kid again. It reminded me of what it was like to experience a generational leap in video games. This game deserves all the praise and more. Thank you!
Much appreciated man! I’m glad I’m not that only fan that loved what was done here. One Love!
play Death Stranding now
This game feels like more than a game. Just thinking of original FFVII, Crisis Core and then Remake/Rebirth and thinking of Cloud and Tifa, the unfourtunate Zack and Aerith never meeting again, Ifalna , Barret and Myrna, Dyne, Marlene, Jessie and the dead Avalanche crew... makes my eyes a bit tearful, and thats much to say for a videogame.
classic mode is not a adequate replacement for proper turned based lol
@@micman963 I agree it’s not the best replacement but it makes the game less frantic and slower.
Octopath Traveler is a great example of a great turn based system. This is why I’m glad Square makes games featuring both styles of combat.
I like you.
@@Kimdk87 Much appreciated. One Love!
A real labor of love. I am so proud, so honored, so lucky to have played this game. There wasn’t any point in my 180+ hour playthrough that I didn’t enjoy my time with it. My game of the year for sure. Thank you for giving this game the attention and praise it deserves! 🙏🏽
Couldn’t have said it better. Appreciating what went into this is so important. I’m so glad you enjoyed it.
Play FF 16
I loved it!
It's not a remake, NOR a revamp. It's a series of sequels to the OG, titled "Remake" and "Rebirth"
Go look at the definition of remake. FF7 Remake is without a doubt a Remake.
@@Vidred007 Simmer down I know.
@@Jahbu You know it's a revamp, your words.
I think it's super tacky and in bad taste and everyone who likes the way this game looks and claims to be a fan of the original is super high on copium.
Meh. I’ll be tacky then.
I want to play this game... But dont want to buy a whole console for just playing it. So... No PC Version no interested from Me.
I think they will bring to the PC eventually. This on a good PC will be insane.
All this graphics does make good game this Story was ASS. The original story was soo good. this some multiverse BS the ending was horrible just wanted to appease zack and aerith fangirls man this some kingdom hearts ass
Relax ma dude. Just play something else. There are tons of games out to play.
Meh it’s not FF7 and it flopped.
@@KieranHamilton-y7s Enjoy games.
Nah it 100% did not flop. I don't know where you got that dumb take from.
