Hayao Miyazaki is the second son of four brothers. He was also good at drawing pictures when young, but his fourth brother was better. Then, Miyazaki sketched people in the park almost every day for four years since he entered high school. Of course, people will not stop, so he must instantaneously draw and draw. finally,he was getting better than the youngest brother.

Studio Ghibli is in a small town surrounded by a forest. I've been inside while they were creating Arriety. You basically cannot get to the studio from Tokyo proper without going through the forest before and after the train/bus ride to Mitaka.

That sounds very magical, enter the forest and into portal to the studio

You convinced me to go off and buy the book. I've been struggling to get a grips with the application Adobe Animate. I know how to animate. But only tradictionally. It's so incredibly frustrating when I know what I want to do next but have no clue how to apply that to the program. I guess it's all a learning curve. I'll get there. I very much enjoy your videos. Very pleasent individual and clearly driven.

Totally Not Mark tbh same, I'm just getting to animation and I've been doing traditional animation. Now I need to use Adobe animate and it's so much more different.

Great video, i definitely need to grab this book. You give a very insightful recap of his process and it does not only inspire us creatives to be working on our art and enjoy the journey but also reminds us of that master artists like Miyazaki are down to earth human beings and attempt to get their voice heard no matter how difficult. It's like a pact between the audience and the artist just like your videos ! 😁

Thank you dude, I really appreciate the thoughtful comment. He's a person just like all of us, but he keeps on learning - he is in his 70s and he is learning to work on a tablet - we should not stop learning! Also it is hard to see him as anything less than a god because he is much much older than us. but if you think about it, he has spent many many years working, so maybe if we keep on this journey we can be legends when we get to his age, who knows?

Hayao miyazaki is amazing i have been a fan of him for years , i love the documentary named the kingdom of dreams and madness. Miyazaki is my inspiration to why i choose the animation career . (Sorry for the bad english:/ ) and i hear that most background in his movies are made with water color.

Howard Wimshurst indeed , also do you think 2D i dieing in what we call entertainment? I. Keep hearing 3D will and has replaced 2D but i find it sad, due to 3D barely requires abillity , unlike 2D demanding that you have understandment of anatomy ,light , the 12 principles, ect . SO HERE IS MY BIG QUESTIONG :Should i learn more 3D rather then 2D or can i still have a stabil future in 2D now a days? .
      I hope u understand what i mean.

Semi on/off topic, but how's the transition into tvpaint been lately?
I wanted to give you some software that I, emphasis on *I* , feel like you could probably get into quite easily while putting in the finest of work :)!

I wonder why people are not giving Opentoonz any chance. I have been using trial version of Harmony 15 for few days an imo I prefer OpentoonZ to harmony . Latest built also has a gpu accleration so no lags whatsoever. They both are also similar with X sheet and all and I think brushes in Opentoonz is better especially after integration of Mypaint brushes which is imilar to TVaPaint.

^You sir do have a point. I also heard that Cacani also those auto inbetweening, coloring, and even lip sync I think. Truly an underrated good software along with open toonz :)!
