I only use a Flush King. Regular toilet paper just like we use at home. No chemicals at all. It is a holding tank - not a septic tank. The reverse flushing cleans a tank out like nothing else. Just be sure you have a few gallons of water in the tank after dumping it and you should be good.

Ship Engineer when engine had oil in the water. Fixed problem.
Then added Cascade water side of engine to clean engine and cooling system one lg box Cascade 300-400 gallons of water . Ran engine for 24 hr's then drained.
Thinking it would work in gray water tank.

Before I leave on a trip, I will pour 5 gallons of water with laundry detergent down the toilet. That way when you are driving to your distention the solution washes the tank.. Plus the tank has liquid in it at the beginning of use., 10 years doing it on this camper with no issues. 40 gallon tank.

If a water softener is recommended or a low suds laundry detergent, then it sounds like dishwasher soap would work great.
I was always told something like that was BAD as it kills the enzymes in the tank?
