    Thank you much kind sir! After much frustration and head scratching, i watched your throughly informative video, took apart the carb/float/jets etc and finally achieved that satisfying first pull with the (gifted for free) mower firing right up. Praise the Lord. Kind regards.

    Thanks for your video. I followed your easy to follow steps exactly to fix my lawnmower that I stored away at the end of fall last year and would not start again this year. Saved me $$$. Thanks so very much!

    Huge help sir! Just got my father in law’s mower running after it had been sitting for years and now wouldn’t start. It was definitely that little nozzle screw in the carb. Clogged just like your. Used a needle to clear it, cleaned the bowl and it started right up! I really appreciate you for doing this video!

    Thank you for guiding me through the carburator cleaning process. Showing me how you removed the carburator and clean it, made this task easy, completed in about 30 minutes, and it worked on my first try.

    Thank you for your video. My mother called and told me she took her lawnmower in to have it spring services. When she called to see why it was taking so long, she was told needed a new $180.00 carburetor. They had to force feed it has to make it run. Me by working on cars knows it one of two things. Fuel not getting from tank or a jet clogged. Watched your video did what you did and it started right up first pull. Thank you so much for taking the time to make this video.

    You sir are my hero. I was having issues with my mower this morning. It just wouldn't start up. I tried changing the spark plug and the air filter but to no avail. I came across your video about the carburetor and decided to give it a shot. Lo and behold it started up on the first try. So thank you for putting out this video. Without it I would have never figured out the problem and probably spend hundreds on a new mower.

    THANK YOU! My carburetor was in pretty bad shape. The needle jet nozzle refused to come out and ended up getting destroyed. As the replacement part is pretty cheap ($ 20) I replaced the carburetor with one from Amazon. The lawnmower started on the very first pull. Your video is spot on. FYI - these instructions were the same for Toro Model 20371 - SPEC XT675-2011.

    I have this same lawnmower and I couldn't start it this year for the first time. I changed the spark plugs, changed the fuel, added special start of season additives to the tank, new air filter...and it didn't start. Actually had to go in and clean the carburetor because I figured it was clogged and I've left fuel in my lawnmowers for years and got away with it. Not this year! I watched your video and went out and pretty much fixed it. The only hard thing was having to bend the end of the connecting throttle rod straight with plyers to get it to unhook to finally detach the carburettor which you didn't really show. Anyway, wanted to thank you for taking the time to do this video and it really helped me out. Thank you!

      Hello Todd thanks for viewing and glad you got it back running! Ethanol fuel could be causing the problems in small engines that sit even for just a short period of time. There is one pump at a BP Station I go that has a non-Ethanol gas I get that for my small engines. Its a little more expensive but could very well prevent what appears to be just dried up gas that clogs these carburetors.

    I picked this same mower up for 20 bucks at a yard sale. They said the self propel wasn't working (the belt had slipped off). I'm still using it years later and your video is helping me to remember how I cleaned the carb a few years back. I tend to leave older gas in it too long. Thanks for the video!

    Thank you, saved me over 100$ just now. I followed your steps and had the mower running in less than an hr. Constructive criticism - get a tripod or second person to hold the camera. I have made "how-to" videos also and I know it can be impossible to hold the camera and work at the same time but if people are following your steps it is super helpful if your hands are free to work as we watch exactly how you do a specific step. But, again, I am really grateful for your work here.

    I just wanted to say THANK YOU very much for posting this clear, easy-to-follow video. My mower (exact same model) started to start, then stop immediately. Web searches told me the first thing to check was the carburetor. That led me to your video and after following your directions (which I have to say were intimidating at first) I was able to take apart the carburetor, clean it out and even put everything back together! ;-) The mower started just fine after the work and kept running!
    This is a first for me to do this kind of thing and I have to thank you for showing me me the way, your expertise and your willingness to share it!

      Hello itzmacker thanks for viewing! Great going glad this could help you in a small way these are great engines just a little funny if they sit for any period of time. If you have ethanol free gas in you area its a little more stable for these small engines if they sit for extended periods of time. Also just start them at least once a week year round and that helps as well, thanks again and take care!

    Unbelievable what 3-4 years of use amounted to within the carb and the carb bowl.. all types of gunk and particles. All working again after a full teardown as shown in your video and a complete cleaning using a can of carb cleaner, a can of compressed air and a clean lint free cloth (mainly to dry off parts) {micro fiber ones work great}. Oh and can't forget that wire from a twist-tie that came off my loaf-of-bread bag!! Carb Looks new and mower runs great!! Thankss...

      @mountainbikekayak  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello Tommy thanks for viewing great job getting it back running again! Have bought a number of these with this Kohler engine that would not start and the same problem. They don't like to sit extended periods of time if using regular non ethanol pump gas. The carburetors all look like some gelled dried gas in them. Its more expensive but I get Ethanol gas just for my mowers particular as you get late in the year where they will sit for the winter seems to help. Great job Tommy!

    This is very well done. My local repair shop was booked weeks out and would have charged me way too much for what I was able to do in less than an hour. This would have been way out of my league, but this video made it seem easy. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

    Just had the same issue with the after-market carburetor I installed on my Toro mower. If your mower is sputtering and stalling out - a clogged jet nozzle in the carb is the most likely culprit. I lost the float pin while cleaning it but was able to rig it with a piece of thin wire. Works like new 😅👍

    Nice video. I did the same for my Toro Recycler after watching your video and the one from Alameda Repair Shop. He showed 2 more steps, one of which solved my problem. I'd recommend viewing it.
    The step that finalized my repair was to clean the small black plastic orifice tube from the top of the carburetor. Acessing it requires removing the low speed adjuster, on which I first counted the turns to the bottom.

    Wow!!!! My mower was surging constantly and would have trouble starting. Had sand in the bowl and some crud in the jet. Thanks so much. She's running like new again. My jets were not varnished as I always run it dry after the season. I am going to start running ethanol free gas. Got this advice from the toro mechanic I spoke to at my local shop. He says he doesn't even drain it out of his small machines after each season.

    we got a "new" toro, its a couple years old but hasnt even seen 5 hours of use. Constant issues that forced us to shelve it. Had some free time and did some research on servicing small engines. The carburator bowl was completely corroded on the inside. Yours is clean compared to mine. It was completely rusted. Carb cleaner, tooth brush, and some sand paper got it clean. It fired up but died right away so my guess is that its the dried up seal around the bowl or the hidden fuel line filter.

    • @mountainbikekayak
      @mountainbikekayak  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello DesecratedReaper thanks for viewing! If yours also has the same Kohler type engine it does sound so abnormal for it being that new for the carburetor to be so corroded. The newer Ethanol gas try to avoid for small engines if you can find a pump that is Ethanol free get that for your lawn mowers and 2 cycle equipment. Its a bit of a pain but also just clean out the gas tank and make sure nothing is blocking the fuel flow, there is no inline filter at least that was on this Toro. Give that carburetor one more going through as well cleaning it. You may not want to spend the money on it but for the sound of it just replace the carburetor you can get these on Ebay for less than $25USD which is almost the same price as a complete Kohler rebuilt kit. These Kohler engines are really good but the ones I have gotten broken had sit for periods of time. It seems the gas dries in them causing starting issues, they need to be started frequently during the off season.

    This video is amazing but I had this issue and mine doesn't have torx screws on the top holding the carb on the pins. I couldn't see how it got off (and still don't know). What I did was got the bowl off and cleaned it out. **Then got a copper wire into the jet from underneath while it was all assembled, with the help of carb cleaner** and it worked!

    Thank you for making this video.
    I acquired my Recycler inexpensively with this very problem and was pleased to discover that not only was this problem common but was (relatively) easy to fix.
    Outside right now, I have a healthy "patient" which is running smoothly for the first time since I purchased it ... for $50 :)

    I own one that is very similar to this. The needle and seat kept getting trash in it. Probably because the tank had debris in it. I installed a fuel filter, problem was solved. It was easier to do that than to pull the tank and clean it.

    Nice!
    I just picked up an identical mower for free as it was not running. It had a clogged main jet as shown in the video. I always run ethanol free gas which is available at Murphy's Express, usually attached to a Walmart. If ethanol free fuel is not available, make sure to empty the tank and drain the bowl for winter storage. I find I don't have to bother with that if using ethanol free fuel.
    The video does skip over removing and installing the rods to the carb, this can be a bit of a fiddly task...

    Worked like a charm...however I broke the auto choke plastic tab off the carb. Put it all back together and it worked. Wondering if I really need the auto choke other then to start

    I just worked on Husqvarna the inside of the bowl was in terrible shape, cleaned out the carb., and the rope is broken. I started it with a 3/4 socket on a drill, run good for now!

      Hello Ray thanks for viewing! What a great idea and way to start it without the rope! Got several videos replacing ropes on Briggs and Stratton as well as Tecumseh engines but not a Kohler have yet to replace one of those. They are all pretty much the same if the spring/guts are not torn up inside.
