Great video and very informational! I bought this watch back in 2019 for I believe $80 on Amazon. It’s now $209 today when I checked Amazon. Im going to start wearing it everyday now!
Prices are quite crazy on this piece now for sure. I payed around $50 on Ebay around 2019. Great watch especially when paired with a nice band...enjoy!
I Bought my SNK809 in March 2018 for $78 US, it's still the one I wear daily. I like the original strap, but I changed it before it would show too much wear. It's stored in the original Seiko Box. My watch has no scratches and still runs great at +7 to 9 seconds/day..I have several different brand NATO straps for it. The brand I like best is Hemsut. The black with grey edges looks great.
I have one that I bought when it was cheap. The glass is now quite scratched and I’ve been quoted stupid money to have it replaced so I’m going to just wear it on dress down days when I don’t care about wearing a scratched watch. Love the style, I wish I had taken better care of it.
I owned several 7S26 movement Seiko 5. They are great value but 7S26 is not very shock resistant. If you drop it from a 2 or 3 feet height, the movement is damaged or components like hair spring is slightly dislodged and watches run very fast like 5 to 10 min fast per day
Sorry to hear that. I've dropped my 7s26 watches several times and so far no damage. But, yes, at the right angle and force next time I might not be that lucky.
I have had mine around 5 years and paid $135 AUD ($85 USD) delivered from Singapore to Australia. Originally it gained around 15 seconds a day until a few years back when suddenly it started gaining around 2 minutes a day. I have recently had it serviced by Seiko in Melbourne and got the crystal replaced while I was at it. (the service alone cost more than the original purchase price) It's my everyday watch and I love it to bits. I have recently purchased a second one as a spare as I prefer it to the new Seiko 5 models and also got a SNK381 which I believe is another future classic.
I bought a Seiko SNK809 K2 and I really hate this watch I have around 30 wristwatches all of which are budget watches that cost between £10 GBP and £300 GBP. The Seiko SNK809 K2 excels at NOTHING A £25 GBP Casio digital watch outperforms the Seiko SNK809 K2 in EVERY way. They are more robust, Less scratch resistant, More water resistant, Have more features on the watch, Are more accurate, You can leave them for weeks and they still display the correct time when you put them on your wrist. You can see the time with them in the dark. In the 1970s when LCD digital watches first hit the market they were LIGHT YEARS ahead of mechanical watches..Let's not forget that! I bought the Seiko SNK809 K2 "On a whim" and I really hate this watch. I have it on my wrist now, But I very rarely wear this watch. Give me a Casio G-Shock DW5600 or a Citizen Eco-Drive over a Seiko SNK809 ANYDAY.

Thank you! Wow, prices have gone crazy.

I have to take a look at Hemsut!
Own this watch and love it, switched the steel bracelet with a leather strap
Looks great on leather 🤘.
I bought one with the steel bracelet two weeks ago. Yes, it is a future classic.
Congrats! Wearing the 809 right now.
Link pls
I have both. Cloth and metal. The metal is awesome!
Already a classic years ago!
My first automatic watch ❤
Did you find it thinner or thicker than expected?
Michael no!
One small tritium tube at the 12 position. Putting sapphire on and one small blue tube is at all a good idea?
Never heard anyone modding with tritium, so not sure there. Definitely sapphire. I might add sapphire to mine soon.

I intend also to keep wearing mine full of scratches for now 🤘🏼.
Putting a sapphire crystal in is pretty straightforward if you're mechanically inclined
I purchased the 807 blue dial and installed a Crystal times double dome Sapphire crystal with blue AR and it's lovely.
Sounds like a great upgrade!
Beautiful watch, but how did the back get so scratched up? Soft material?
It's made of Hardlex. I'm not too careful with my watches 😃.
@@HandleTimeChannel Thanks for your informative video. I’m getting one for my husband.
Where I can get the strap?
BluShark Alphapremier NATO.

I have dropped mine too a couple of times, and the watch is fine.

Bro whats the name of the strap??
BluShark Alphapremier.
Honestly the prices are going up quite a bit on them so I’d agree.
Sure have gotten up.

Wow, you must be fun at parties 🙂. Looks like Seiko is not for you. Enjoy your digital Casio's (which I also enjoy and have several).
