    I just keep coming back to this video series. There are some really good videos online showing how to tie bucktail deceivers and bulkheads, but your "Beginner Predator Flies" mini series is the best I've seen. Straight to the point, very good explanations, very good tying. Awesome job - thanks for sharing!

    Very nice Gunnar! The KISS principal at its best! The Popovics influence really shows :-) Agreed - a lot can be done with this platform and still keep it simple. Great as you tied them long for pike and bass. For walleye I tie them shorter on a light wire hook using more of the coarser hair at the base of the bucktail so that they are more buoyant. Olive, brown or yellow fished with a sinking line for lake walleyes works well for me. Cheers! Hank

    Killer tutorial Gunnar (as always!). you mention fishing this with a "conehead on the leader". can you provide a little more detail on what you're doing? Thanks!!!

    Yes Gunnar, that thing looks killer! Like the suggestion to mix up some color for a muskie/pike fly using this recipe. Definitely a pattern that will find a place in my fly box. Thanks.

    I tried this last night. Man, you make it look EASY. I think mine would have turned out better if I had a larger hook though. Umpqua U502 size 2 was not the way for me lol.

    When I tie these, I can never get the rear facing parts to lay so flat and long...my bucktail is always flayed out wide. Any recommendations? I try to wrap it down a bit and I try using less pressure...that usually ends in wonky looking flies or hair slipping our or rotating on the hook.

    I tied this fly however my bucktail does not fold back in a nice cone like that when tied hollow fly style. It splays up and out, and the fly looks like a mop. You mention a different type of bucktail, can you elaborate on that??

    Hi Gunner Brammer, I have enjoyed watching you tie the bulkhead predator on TH-cam. I am looking for that long 5 to 6 inch white buck hair, can you tell me which store you purchased your buck tail from? I have not been able to find that long buck hair. Could you Give me the name of the store and website where I may find the same long buck tail? Thanks.

    That is a monster killer. No predators are going to be able to resist that tie. You like to use sinking lines or floating line and sinking leader?

  • @hdayan1945
    @hdayan1945 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Very bulky, indeed. Could be done lighter for the amazonians tucunares (i.e. peacock basses). I find your streamers too heavy. I sugest you'll watch some vídeos of brazilian tyiers like, Kawamoto's streamers for the big amazonians tucunares (i.e. peacock basses). Watch that one, he is tying a REMULOS FLY !!!!Although very big and bulky, less dense and lighter.

    Your work is fine, but I am asking myself and asking you a question; all these filaments of more or less plastic material will end up in the water and/or in the bellies of fish. You and I and millions of Internet users would surely like to be able to enjoy many more years of the benefits of this planet. Isn't a reflection on the choice of ecological materials necessary? for reading, thank you.
