Not completely true. I had tried and failed in my first 10 minute attempt. That allowed me to get the feel of the tensioning, lock and pins before the attempt that you saw. Have no doubt, this was a well put together lock and I was clearly lucky to pick it so quickly.
It could be impossible to copy haha. I like so much weird looking pins, maybe one day I try to make them with copper wire, a drill, and some saw blades!
Don't know if it is or just a mishap in threading but, #2 in the core looked to have very minor under-cutting at least 1 thread. May be just me. Nice, unique driver pins. Again, masterful picking job Bill.
When you have, serrated pins, spool pins and t-pins in a lock, is there an order you prefer to get them or is it just first come first serve that clicks as you work the lock?
I know this is an old comment, but if you want to see crazy skills check out Chessguy125 - he is the guy Bill sends the shit he cant pick. Also LockPickingLawyer has some impressive chops.
I like picking locks as a puzzle, because it relaxes me. However i don't know where to find/buy more locks to play with. I feel weird asking a locksmith for used locks to learn picking. He might think I'm a burglar or something... Any tips that doesn't break the bank?
I would still try asking a locksmith if you have one locally. I think you'd be hard-pressed to find a 'smith who didn't have that as an interest before it became their profession, and wouldn't understand Beyond that, have you tried checking second-hand stores? The one near me occasionally has various door hardware in bags, with a couple locks in each. Good luck!
darkdemise99 I think it makes disassembling it easier and not having the pins go everywhere. I'm sure it can be done but you also never know if you picked all the pins to a look that is 100% out of the keyway I suppose.
Where was the danger counter-clockwise? Didn't see any construction holes etc and he mentioned you might break pins. You also mentioned re-picking counter-clockwise in video but didn't show it.
Hi there, I know very little about lock picking so please pardon my ignorance but I've been watching your channel for quite a while and seen a lot of your vids. You seem very impressed with these challenging locks, and from a man of your experience that's saying something. But what difference does all the complexity make if it can still be picked in a matter of seconds with very basic tools? I appreciate you're experienced etc but even with that in mind this seemed incredibly easy (I know seeing is not doing) - I'm just not getting why this is any harder to pick than some basic crappy lock designed by whoever. Could you explain a bit if you have the time? Thanks :)
With those pins in there, I would have expected it to take considerably longer to pick. Do you think you may have been exceptionally lucky on this attempt?
He's had a lot more trouble picking much simpler pins before. Here, it sounded like this was his first time trying to pick it clockwise and he got an unlock before he even realized it. Looks like a considerable amount of luck may have been involved here.
the bitting was unfortunately weak though. each of his key pins are so long that barely any driver comes into play. A simple adjustment to his key pins and the lock would be way harder i would think.
I have another name for those type of pins, I just can't repeat it here. Or in front of children. I'd probably turn the air blue with profanity if I had to work my way through one of those locks to get into an aircraft. (Nobody seems to remember that they didn't give us a key when they want us to work on it.)
I had an idea about a lock. It's an upside down door lock that springless. Therefore you can't get in with regular picking. The key would be magnetic and bring the pins up setting them in the correct position. The lock would be in a door and wouldn't be able to be shaken. Any idea on this or if it's already been made? Thanks
max Mourkas what would stop someone with a very strong magnet placing it above the lock on the door, (obviously on the front face of the door) from just pulling the pins up with a magnet and opening the door?
LockTest Yes it is, and it hasn't been done quite like he is asking though. And I think the reason is because of the second comment here... it is only security that is security by obscurity is what that is and once the lock in known then there is no security left once the obscurity is gone.
I think that's a good idea. It certainly wouldn't be possible to pick traditionally. You'd have to magnetize the top of the lock and pull all of the pins up, then pick it while magnetized. It would be one more hurdle to pass.
Joe Higgitt the pins would be like a traditional lock therefore you couldn't just pull them all up with one magnet. They would all have to go up a different amount. Just like I usual lock you can't just push them all down the same amount. So it would look just like a regular key
Hey Bill! Do you sell those boards? I don't see them on your website. I want to get into lockpicking, and I'd like to support you by purchasing items here and there. I've ordered a training lock with a basic pick kit (happy I could type that and not SAY it XD Basic pick kit XD). I'd like to have one of those boards if I ever decide to take a lock apart :). I could probably buy one comercially or make one using your tutorials, but I'd prefer to support you by buying it from you as your channel is the main reason I got interested into lockpicking! :)
that thing wouldn't turn ccw at all before I sent it to you. I am curious though... You are showing this lock but I haven't seen any of the other 15 locks I sent you. did you get the big package?
Loads, Bosnia Bill did a good one using knives as the material also a picker called wizzwazle and many more.i wouldn't use hacksaw blades , as i found them too brittle. I enjoy making them as much as picking.
When you name your lock "The Impossible" and Bill smokes it in less than a minute...
Not completely true. I had tried and failed in my first 10 minute attempt. That allowed me to get the feel of the tensioning, lock and pins before the attempt that you saw. Have no doubt, this was a well put together lock and I was clearly lucky to pick it so quickly.
reload it with some sick bitting and try again ;)
It could be impossible to copy haha. I like so much weird looking pins, maybe one day I try to make them with copper wire, a drill, and some saw blades!
What a beautiful set of driver pins!
Oh wow those pins looks like chess piece, just glorious work of art
you got lucky on that one Bill, should have been way harder , great work on the pins , one of the better ones I've seen for sure.
Bill, I'm pretty sure that first "spool" from the bible was actually the spear of Osiris. Immaculate work!
Great camera work on the last several videos! I really appreciate the effort.
Drivers are incredible works of art.
Those pins are works of art.
"Oh, I have it open. Whaddya know?"
I laughed hard at that, dunno why. Thanks as always.
Don't know if it is or just a mishap in threading but, #2 in the core looked to have very minor under-cutting at least 1 thread. May be just me.
Nice, unique driver pins.
Again, masterful picking job Bill.
nice pinning, and excellent picking..
I'm just getting into lock picking so for the moment I'm making my own picks. Some day I'll have to try and make a lock too.
Those were some tough pins
So guys for Europe what can be considered as the best beginners pick kit?
Probably the Praxis from UKBumpkeys or the Elite 17 from MultiPick Services in Germany.
bosnianbill Thanks for the answer and great picking btw.

Just pick them in the order they bind.
Those pins look like chess pieces.
This guy must work for the government or DOD/ Homeland Security. He is waayyyy too good at picking locks
I know this is an old comment, but if you want to see crazy skills check out Chessguy125 - he is the guy Bill sends the shit he cant pick. Also LockPickingLawyer has some impressive chops.
Enjoy your retirement bill and thank you for all the quality content you created all these years.

Good luck!
I can tell the only reason the lock was so easy to open was the bitting on the key not much difference
also good picking Bill.
The "Antique Lamp" pin collection, by Dan.
Noob question, once you have the lock picked open, why do you re-lock it and insert the key to open it again before disassembly?
darkdemise99 I think it makes disassembling it easier and not having the pins go everywhere.
I'm sure it can be done but you also never know if you picked all the pins to a look that is 100% out of the keyway I suppose.

great vid!
Did you see the new kiosk machine that takes a photo of a key 🔑 and prints you a copy? What do you make of that?
Nice name for a lock! 😂
why thread 4 and 6 in the core? the key pins wont catch up they were both standard pins apart from some tapering on 6
some nice work on them pins their
I"ve seen those double sided rounded key pin in stock yale mortise cylinders. They're probably like that so manufacturing can be faster.
You should have more subs, great videos, thanks for help

also he had some time off camera with it as well he said trying to go CCW.
I was going to say the same thing. Amazing pins. How was this picked so fast?

Luck ALWAYS factors in. Also, your odds of getting an open is directly proportional to the number of people looking over your shoulder...😜
What clamp do you use?

Look into the evva MCS lock. MCS stands for Magnetic code system I believe.

Hey Bill, just a quick question, do you know a gentleman by the name Ken Foo? He's a locksmith from Texas.
I know a Ken but not sure of his last name. Where in TX?
He's from Houston but he goes all over the world.
Nope. The Ken I know owns a Locksmith shop near Dallas.
Nice
I think the downfall was the long key pins
that thing wouldn't turn ccw at all before I sent it to you. I am curious though... You are showing this lock but I haven't seen any of the other 15 locks I sent you. did you get the big package?
Not yet, when did you send it? I checked the PO box this evening on the way home from work - nada.
DanBai123 Those pins were beautiful!
Dj Strings Music
Thank you sir. I spent some time on them
bosnianbill
it's been at least 10-12 days...
DanBai123, sorry to hijack your conversation here, but just wanted to say it looks like you did some good work on the lock, man.
What are treading holes for?
The sharp edges on the threads trap and hold the sharp edges on all the serrated and spool pins.
It looks like you can bump it.
Looks nasty, I am surprised you opened it at all.
what's the point of all that custom b.s. if you picked it in less than a minute? This "impossible lock" is one of the fastest I've seen you pick.
Andrew Delashaw it was because the bitting was weak. the pin design is very tough tho. with steeper bitting this lock may have been impossible.
call em Stanley cups
Why do you keep picking everything upside down? It makes it easier or?
Lock I'mPossible
Hello ! can i get a kit please i'm new to pick locking world :D i find it very interesting ! PS: we don' have pick locking kitin my country
Toxin You can win stuff on his lock lab website. He doesn't just give stuff to people who ask.
Okay !
Hi Toxin, you can make your own picks quite easily. I used the blade of a hand saw.if you have a bench grinder and an angle grinder have a try.
Is there any tutorials on how to make your own picks ? Thanks !
