I'm just happy that the one real time I did meet Bruce Willis he was pretty cool. And in the process, I got the Bruce WIllis Death Stare, and then the Bruce WIllis Smirk.
Somebody probably tried but the Kevin in question may not be famous, or known in any way to the public. He could just be a friend of Willis's or a relation of some kind.
Sounds like an honest (if slightly senile) mistake. I doubt Willis has any true animosity towards Smith. He probably doesn't even remember that they didn't get along on 'Cop Out' lol
If he did, I'd hope he'd be mature enough to realize it was on him. If he was feeling burned out and kind of phoning in his performance (which is how Kevin Smith describes it), he'd know that was what he was doing, and hopefully look back on it and say "Man, I should've taken a vacation instead of taking that role. I hope Kevin isn't pissed at me."
I think it’s deeper than that. Bruce realized how lackluster Kevin’s directing is and immediately put in minimal effort. It’s different from Live Free or Die Hard because they were co-stars and Bruce didn’t have to work for him. I think Bruce sizes people up, and if he senses that they’re spineless or unable to stand up to him then he pushes them around. You want Bruce to commit, you gotta show him you’re not playin around
@@Prof_Tickles92 yeah, you hit it on the head. @@MKG176 Yeah, the title is clickbait. This is a nonsensical, non-story and the title obfuscates the contents of the video. It was a waste of 3 minutes.
The title actually is exactly right. "Bruce Willis’s Kind Gesture To Kevin Smith" (of sending some pics of his daughter) "Wasn’t What It Seemed" (wrong person). How else would you have worded it?
So he's told two variations of this story. The first one was on his stand-up special when he had the heart attack and this one. I wonder if these were two different events or just one 🤔
Kevin also told the story about 'Cop Out' where in the beginning Bruce asked him about how he wants to shoot a certain scene and with what lens. Kevin was the director and said to him that he didn't know since he always just lets his director of photography do that. Writing and dialogue were more his thing. He 100% lost all respect as a filmmaker to a veteran like Willis right then and there. So I totally believe that Bruce Willis was a dick but with that kind of working relationship things were doomed from the start.
I agree even the way Kevin told the story didn't make Bruce sound that bad. It sounded like Kevin was a small indie filmmaker who got a studio feature and didn't really do his homework to get prepared for that leap and Bruce was annoyed. He even says when he asks Bruce for a "David Addison moment" that while Bruce complained about being referred back to something he had done years earlier (and maybe annoyed about getting an acting note at all) that he did indeed give Kevin the moment he wanted. So that story did not paint Bruce as an unprofessional to me (although later stories did).
@@FanboyFilms I agree, especially when his note was to refer to an Addison moment but not really explaining that beforehand and Willis being annoyed at having to read his mind and know to go back 20 years to apply that note.
