  • This design concept focuses on the Sai Kung region, renowned for its natural beauty and home to a UNESCO Global Geopark. This area has long been dedicated to preserving its natural environment, with many indigenous villagers still residing there and speaking local dialects. The region is a stunning natural sanctuary, teeming with a diverse array of wildlife including birds, insects, monkeys, deer, and even cows.
In this picturesque setting, there is an abandoned building located on a slightly elevated hill with a sea view. The proposal is to convert this building into a tea house, drawing inspiration from the area's natural beauty and rich cultural heritage. The interior design reflects these influences by using materials inspired by nature. High-quality materials such as marble and natural wood have been carefully selected, with a particular emphasis on using **sintered stone**, which is considered a sustainable material, in place of traditional marble.
The furniture, lighting, and various interior design elements will combine wood and sintered stone to create a harmonious ambiance. The overall atmosphere blends indigenous aesthetics with the natural surroundings, featuring an exhibition space that highlights the coexistence of wildlife and plant life.
Visitors will be able to enjoy the scenic ocean views from seating arranged to maximize their connection with nature. The tea house will feature foldable glass windows that can fully open, offering an unobstructed view of the sea and blurring the line between indoors and outdoors. Additionally, the ceiling will incorporate inclined skylights made of wood, designed to reflect indirect sunlight off the wooden surfaces, ensuring a constant influx of gentle, natural light.
This design ensures that visitors can immerse themselves in nature, enjoying a peaceful tea-drinking experience while finding tranquility and meditative calm in this thoughtfully designed space. This innovative approach not only celebrates the beauty of Sai Kung but also showcases the potential of sustainable materials in modern design.
