THE BIKERIDERS - June 21 - The Good, The Bad, The Meh - Tom Hardy, Jodie Comer, Austin Butler

- The Bikeriders, from Writer/Director Jeff Nichols, stars Tom Hardy as 'Johnny', head of the Vandals, a 1960's motorcycle gang; Austin Butler as 'Benny', up-and-coming James Dean-type member of the Vandals; and Jodie Comer as 'Kathy', the women that comes between the Johnny and Benny in this star-crossed love triangle.
Based off the 1967 picture book also named 'The Bikeriders'; the film also stars Norman Reedus, Boyd Holbrook, Mike Faist, and Michael Shannon as 'Zipco'.
The Bikeriders hits theaters June 21.

Disney didn't drop it Jeff Nichols pulled it because after the strike in which he had to promote it by himself Disney wasn't promoting it. Focus Features were litually waiting in the wings and picked it up the next day. They are promoting the hell out of it as it should be. Everyone who has seen it thinks it it really good and deserves to do well.

Here for Jodie. Best actress on the planet. I heard that Disney decided against showing it because Beyonce was releasing her film followed by something Taylor Swift was about to do, I think Disney was rumored at buying or selling part of their company. IDK. Could just be rumors.
I know there's the whole concert/movie thing going on, but this is such a small movie by comparison, I can't imagine they would tank the whole movie over fears of competing with Beyonce... At least I HOPE they wouldn't! Lol...
I also love Jodie Comer, BTW... And you're right, she's one of the most talented young actresses working today!

Disney dropped it because of the strike hence the unability to promote it via its actors. Plus seems like Beyoncé film made the release date uneasy. Jodie Comer look is based on a real person ( her character), like all the leads i think. Based on a photo book + tapes recorded by Danny Lyon.
I saw something on Wikipedia about it being based on a picture article, which seemed oddly specific in how vague it is... Not sure if there's a real life Jodie Comer, or if they didn't want to have to label the film 'Based On A True Story' for residuals... Lol...
Will be interesting to see how The Bikeriders does in theaters given the steep competition of Summer movie season!

Agreed! Jodie Comer gets top billing on Wikipedia (which tends to be most accurate), so I’m guessing the story is told from her perspective as the outsider character looking in on the biker club…

@@dragonmovieguy Hello, why does Kathy want him to stop the motorcycle and the Vandals so we see two people in the bar without taking Benny for his jacket Why did they attack him And why did Kathy say that Benny is uncontrollable but uncontrollable on what benny he them And how did he join the Vandals because in a trailer we see Kathy being attacked by bikers wearing Vandals jackets and why Kathy says he's yours you'll never get him to Johnny what did they mean by that ( Thank you for your answers )

@@BENNY-CROSS.VANDALS-CHICAGO Good question! My guess is this will be the standard love triangle where the good girl's attracted to the bad boy and comes between the two friends... At some point she asks Elvis to go straight and the club tries to get between the two of them... As for a violence response to leaving the club? Not sure... I have a feeling they didn't make a film 'based on a true story', just to avoid the quesitons of what ACTUALLY would happen in real life in the same situation...
As for the film... My guess is a fist fight between Elvis and Bane at the end...
I saw an interview that it got dropped because the cast could not promote it and so Disney worried it would bomb. Interesting takes but you do know this is based on real people! So they kind of had to make her look like the real Kathy.
The research that I did (on Wikipedia at least) said the screenplay was based off a picture article published in a magazine… I couldn’t find much more than that! Lol…. Would be interesting to see how much the ‘real’ influences on this film actually played in! 😎
@@dragonmovieguy oh there's a lot more then just based on a picture. It's a whole book of photographs and the author conducted interviews with the real people back in the 60s. The director spoke about that in a lot of interviews. For Jodies accent work they had original audio files. @@dragonmovieguy It's actually a book of photos put together by Danny Lyons. The book was following the OUTLAWS mc in the 60's. The movie is based on that but using a fictatious club name.

U do know this is a time piece and it’s the 60’s so she not going to look the era duh
The movie is actually about the outlaws MC 1% club which formed in Chicago
The hair/makeup/wardrobe for Jodie Comer, YES, makes her look frumpy in these trailers!
It’s not the era, I think it has to do with her character not ‘feeling’ beautiful, even though she’s played by an actress most would consider very attractive most of the time…
Plenty of hair and makeup styles from that era look good even now…. But, the bangs covering up her face, plain makeup, and especially Austin Butler showing off his muscles while Jodie Comer is covered up by jackets/layers of clothing…. Yes, deflecting her appearance…

As for the specific storyline, not much has been put out there yet…. But, I’m eager to see the film, and if there are specific real life people the characters are based on…
They dropped it cause of its ties with Danny Lyon I'd assume.. always shooting themselves in the foot.
I don’t know much about Danny Lyon - NEVER heard of him before this movie…. Just Googled him…. Doesn’t seem all that controversial or counter to Disney morals/ethics… I imagine if they had a HUGE problem with him they wouldn’t have greenlit the picture at Searchlight…

Butler went right into the WW11 film about a world war 2 flying group,, Then he did Dume 2 as Fayd Rutha, he isn't still doing Elvis, why are guys so jealous of him?
Haha... Well, when the guy actually speaks with his learned-Elvis accent AFTER the movie is over in real life interviews... There's a reason I don't call him 'Dune 2 Austin Butler'! Lol...

@@dragonmovieguy The funny part as an old Elvis fan, Elvis never sounded like that, he didn't speak with a low raspy voice,, Butler never nailed the voice, Butler used his own raspy sound. He did a good job other wise, but he looked nothing like Elvis to me, but he got the essence of Elvis, which was my favorite Austin movie. listen to the real Elvis talk, he changed over his three decade career, he had a very commanding speaking voice, Look at him at the Madison Square Garden interview. The only thing Butler did was put in a southern draw which Elvis eventually lost when he hit the movie scene.
@@user-gz5xt1lj4t interesting observations! Elvis died, officially at least, when I was 2, so seeing him evolve over the years is something I didn’t experience…. However, seeing Elvis portrayed in movies/TV is something I’ve experienced plenty! Lol…
It’ll be interesting to see if they ever do a Kurt Cobain BioPic -given all the Nirvana T Shirts floating around high schoolers today, how he would be portrayed, and how accurate it would match real life…. Hmm…
