    I find it funny that Bay decided to give the Japanese Pilots, the Villains, his trademark 'Badass'-treatment, with the Heroic Music, the slo-mo Shots and determined Faces!

    Editing out the ridiculous story line that ruined this thing and focusing on the surprise and horror of the attack was a stroke of genius. Perfect length too. I see that I am not the first teacher to use this clip for educational purposes. Thank you

    Just one problem: Pearl Harbor is a proper noun and is thus spelled that way regardless of what country it's in. It's the same as an American saying "Portsmouth Harbor"--simply not correct.

    I was so turned off by the stupidity of the movie the first time, I never realized that they destroyed like 5 or 6 1980s style Arleigh Burke class destroyers. This film was even shoddier than I remembered it.

    • @rincinerate3984
      @rincinerate3984 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      They spent a lot of money to not offend Japan and just ended up offending everyone with how bad the movie was. I still haven't managed to see it and everyone I know who saw it said they walked out halfway through. All the veterans were pissed.

    • @ObamaTookMyCat
      @ObamaTookMyCat 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      atleast they got some of the ships right, as far as battleship row, then again, you can tell what shots were filmed on location like the USS texas and Missouri, and the fact that the ships kept changing type. Example, some of the dive bombing scenes showed battleship row consist of mainly nevada class ships, then other fly by scenes showed the correct ship class.... and the most obvious mistake in my opinion ( i guess it was only added for the action) was the forward tripod mast falling at 2:10 which we know never happened to any of the tripod mast battleships (which was only Nevada, Oklahoma (unless if you are talking about when she rolled over, even then the masts stayed upright and virtually undamaged until they impacted the harbor bed) Pennsylvania (which only recieved a few bomb hits, no major damage to that extent) and Arizona which even though it was ripped apart from turret 2 forward, the foremast base was destroyed, causing it to fall forward, but it was STILL connected to the ship itself.

    • @MrChickennugget360
      @MrChickennugget360 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      those arn't Arleigh Burkes they are the older Spruance-class destroyers

    • @MrChickennugget360
      @MrChickennugget360 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      in general Bay pays no attention the the actual details of the events of the attack. the only part of the attack he got right was the initial torpedo attack (which went down pretty much as they show it) and the High Level bombing attack that destroyed the Arizona

      The reason that they disliked this movie is because it is considered by many as an insult and a disgrace to the memory of the men and women who lost and sacrificed their lives on the tragic event.

    Why didn't the Marines stationed in Pearl Harbor use the M1A1 BAZOOKA's? Volley Launch of these 2.36 inch Shaped Charge Bazooka Warheads would have brought down Lightly Armored Zeroes. I guess their were not enough supplies or No body at that time thought Unguided Rockets Launched in Large number could act as an Improvised Anti Air Weapon Systems. Even Soviet Union during the Battle of Stalingrad and Battle of Moscow in World War 2 used Truck Mounted Katyusha Rockets against Ju-87 Stuka's and Bf-109 Fighter Bombers (which surprised and scared German Pilots)

    • @cassandys5216
      @cassandys5216 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      It was a surprise attack. They couldn't get the bazookas while under fire. And btw. The Japanese plane were so lightly armored, my great great grandfather shot down a zero with a Thompson machine gun. Easy.

    • @actisac
      @actisac 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      cas sandys So the Marines and the Sailors had to be Equipped with Thompson but then Again there were not enough Thompson's right?? But the Bazooka effort might have made some Impact. Just like the Katyusha Rockets did for the Soviets during the Battle for Kremlin against the Luftwaffe. The Rockets downed 18 Ju-87 Stukas, 3 Bf-109's and 11 Me-110's.

    • @cassandys5216
      @cassandys5216 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +actisac thompsons were the most commonly used weapons back in ww2 for America. Besides m1 garland, bar etc.

    • @actisac
      @actisac 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      cas sandys Yes But I heard they were Tad Expensive and Weren't as Mass produced as the "M3 Grease Gun". BTW Did the Marines also use Grease Guns against the Zeroes??

    • @cassandys5216
      @cassandys5216 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'd like to tell you that not all not everyone onboard a docked ship is a veteran sailor or seasoned marine. Some are just shore crew members, (possibly civilians working in maintenance areas, dock repairs, inspections, supply rations divisions, etc).BTW people at this time were still suffering from the effects of the economic downfall of the 1930s. So basically people just want to have jobs in anyway possible, and employment in the US armed forces was one of those only few chances. This along with the factors that not everyone who boards a ship is given training(unlike today). Ships have cooks, servers, doctors/nurses on board which aren't normally meant to fight during a battle.

    @stratmandar Sure, and you're willing to let the Atomic Bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki (the latter was not even an original target), and the British/American bombings of Dresden, Hamberg and Pforzheim slide because civilian deaths are less than the Nazis and Japanese. And let's not forget the Soviet's brutality. That's what I mean by no hands were clean. Even with one civilian killed, than you're no better.
