Did it in October 2023.....never again was shaking when I arrived at Hardkott fort....came from Keswick drove west to the coast to join the a66 rather than drive on that dirt track again. Have considered riding it on my Bonnie but having seen some of the videos and jolting my memory.....NO CHANCE !.....Thanks for the video 👍
Thanks for posting this, I’m a Roman nut and I’m wanting to visit the fort that’s at the top of the pass and was wanting to know if it’s better to drive up there or hike it. Looking at all the stopping and starting I think it’ll be better to walk it, be more of a challenge but might be faster 😂
What a great idea! Let's do the hardest road in the UK over the Easter weekend when it's full of bicyclists and bloody car drivers that haven't got a clue! Lol. It's a lot easier midweek. Anyway, well done lads. 👍
I was in the white corsa stopped on the right at the end. At the back of your group was an old couple on a bike. I got halfway over and saw a car in the stream.
Person with the black and green lid you're following was all over the place and very nearly binned it on the first few bends , had she got a bike licence ?
I did in 1983 or thereabouts. Took the pillion off the 350 triumph twin on my 650 saint. I was surprised that I needed first on some sections. Didn’t fall off don’t remember any tricky bits, it was steep but not a problem.certainly no kin traffic on it! Go mid week ffs
At each end they should put a sign up reminding people to give way to traffic going up hill, some prats seem to think because they have a nice new 4x4 they can just bully their way through. Done this twice and unfortunately in the summer the stupid coach drivers used to think it was a good destination for their Chinese tourists, thankfully they have gone during COVID due to lack of tourists so make the most of it before they come back.
Close it to all motor vehicles???? Your mean the ones whoo contribute to the upkeep of the road network ??. I may get some stick for this ( Ive done it twice on a motorbike) but it's not what I think of as a good riding road , give me sweeping bends and flowing corners any day . I know it takes a bit of doing it not fun , certainly when as busy as that . Well done for navigating the road and all the traffic.
Stay away on a weekend, waste of time. I went last year for a few days. Monday to Thursday. Wrynose and Hardknott done by 9 am Tuesday, hardly saw a car. Going back soon, so many roads to explore . Atleast you didn't loose your rag, that would have really pissed me off. Hope the rest of your ride was better .
Just love all you motorists....motorcyclists and especially you entitled roadies riding this great pass....the only vehicles that passed over this great area were on their way to eskdale and wasdale to walk the mountains...now its a right of passage on TH-cam....
Would love to do this but need a more powerful bike, I'm still trying to pass my test and get a Honda goldwing, until then it's a 125 with those eyesore L plates, anyway, thanks for sharing this!
WTF. Absolute madness going there at this time Easter Weekend on motorbikes. Sorry just no logic there. Not a good idea with all the entitled cyclist. And the nutters in cars enough said. Great comedy who needs a tv when we have this to make us laugh.
@@PW-CreakySaddle Im sure it was more fun to ride than to watch. Its a fascinating piece of road and as such gets a bit too much attention I guess. Id love to try it. Maybe next time Im in Britain 😎
hang on your supposed to leave 10 feet clear of lycra....and all that traffic no wonder the roads worn away...when I travelled this road 30 years ago I was pretty well alone and it was magic...wanted to see the Roman Fort...sadly now its filled with bucket list bikers all doing videos...pathetic.

I did this twice in 1988, in a little Renault 11 1.3L manual, with a terrified wife and children in the back seat. Good times.
Ah … the tranquility 🤗

Its just too busy with people doing the pass as a personal goal, not because they love the area and want to get somewhere then walk around.
Was on that road the same day as you, but done it in the morning, it wasn’t as busy as that when I done it

Was very busy that day but still a great :)
@@war3zuk I've been up there several times on my bike. It's challenging. This was the first time I took a car up there... never again.
That must have been as painful to do as it was to watch
You took longer with an engine to go down than i did going up on a pushbike :-)

What load of malarkey

I think this must be the slowest m'bike video over HardKnott ever! Well done 👍
That looked hard work
The lead car of the 3 in front was causing problems. Basic rule is push on, and don't leave gaps.
The road surface was reasonable but stupidly narrow.

Did it years ago on Honda vfr - in pouring rain. Never want to go there ever again.

🤔 not sure that pushing ya bike 🚴 up hardknott pass actually qualifies as saying you cycled it 🤷♂️…
What a shambles

It’s one of the prettiest places to be stuck in a traffic jam.
You have to admire the stamina of those bicyclists
You didn’t choose to do this during the Fred Whitton event by any chance?😂
LAKELAND LOOP CYCLE SPORTIVE 2022
It's closed to vehicles during the Fred
It's closed to vehicles during the Fred
No wonder the road's knackered.
😂 Bad choice guys, talk about rethinking your life choices 😂
seems an absolute nightmare be quicker to walk and better views. As for the cyclist !!!

A 125 would be ideal
nice light bike, ideal.
@@fotofootage7481 it's not though it's a keeway super light, quite heavy, name is missleading 😂
You'd want to be a well experienced rider to do it on a Goldwing 😀
I’ve done it on a 100cc scooter and have seen other small capacity bikes doing this on TH-cam
I wonder how many of those cyclists started at the bottom thinking it's a good idea, only to find out maybe not so much 😂
We are just too many people with too much time. That must have been annoying.
My birthday 🥳
this camera is great get a real view. thanks for the video
How hard would it be for the cars to split up a bit instead of forming a rolling road block Durrrrr! come on its not rocket science?
I'd love to see the tour of Britain cycle race use hardknott one of these days.
ITS FILLED WITH TWTS NOW DOING A TICK BOX THING
Close it to all motor vehicles = loverly road and peaceful experience.
So all cars have to stop as road wouldnt be wide enough to give cyclists a full car width.
🤣🤣
What's the point of pushing the cycle up the hill, ya might as well walk it 🤷🏻♂️
Pedal cyclists on Hardknott pass. Discuss........
They’re the ones who show the rest how it should be done. Hats off to the lot of them.
Busy!

That ride was to motorcycling what golf is to walking.Such a waste of a day.
Should be closed to cars 1st April - 30th September as it's just ridiculous now. If you must 'do it' do it on foot / cycle / bike.
It's clear that the cyclists are the issue here not the cars, it's not the tour de france
For me, you had 2 choices. Stop and enjoy the views, or pass the slow moving cars. Following those cars was a stupid option 🙄
One of my local roads ! It’s time all non essential 4 wheelers were banned from using it, dunno how it would be policed though 🤔
why so im forced to enjoy this beautiful road only if i get a motorbike. they should just let you guys pass tbf.
Definitely oversubscribed route ! Look at the damage being done time to close it walkers only
i mean state of some of thoose cyclists, what they thinkin
Does not look fun!
@@daddystu7046It looks more fun than being there in a car or on a motorcycle. A lot more fun.
@@davidmatthews3093 Me 5 years ago agrees with you. Me now needs horse-power to move my increased weight!
Sorry guys but this turned out just boring to watch. I hope it was a bit more fun to actually ride. 😎
But this is what it gets like and we just have to share :-)

Cyclists seem to want to use all of the road and don't care how many people they hold up.
I can't see a single reason why this is a single track road.
Thats no fun day on a motorbike more like a nightmare day I've had bikes for 45 years and you can stick that for a ride,no thanks what is the point.
