=== UPDATE === PLEASE READ === A lot of time has passed since the making of this video, and I've installed this mod many more times. I'd like to add some notes here until I make an updated video with the revised Methylene kit. I really don't recommend putting the bottom shield back on to your console without taking a lot of care. If you really feel the need to, I advise you remove the shield of the ESP32, and cover the ESP32's exposed components with kapton tape. This will result in less pressure applied to the mod when putting the shield back on. The shield does have a plastic insulator attached to it, but better to be safe than sorry. When leaving out the shield, you can use the mounts Gusse provides on his website in place of the shield. If you are using the iFlash kit from Arthrimus, then of course use his mount instead. I also advise you follow the official guide where the wires are concerned. Follow my wiring at your own risk, and use your own common sense. Make sure the wires aren't causing any extra pressure once reassembling. Make sure they aren't pinched by anything. Take care. If you have any questions regarding your install, I'll be more than happy to help out!
That's pretty cool. I have seen different wireless controller mods, but not this one. Also thanks again for the video! Lot of time and work goes into these. Plus I get to learn something while watching and enjoy! :D haha thanks
Hey I have a question, if there is a wired controller plugged into slot one, and you hit the PlayStation logo on the paired Bluetooth controller to turn it on, does it still turn on remotely, and place the wired as player 1 and wireless as player 2? I'm asking because I have the wingman Ps2 adapter (which uses Bluetooth but doesn't have a turn on function)
@@AtherisMods Too bad but great alternative besides brook, mgs 2 and 3 and Gran Turismo 3 and 4 need pressure sensitive controllers, same thing with brook converters no ds3 support.
Excellent work! I wonder if the power on/off function has a secondary feature when paired with the laserfixes such as picfix or comsoft v4 fix, to turn the ps2 back on after a mechacon crash has caused a forced shutdown.
Thanks man! That’s a good point.. I’ve never actually tested a crash with the picfix. Only ever installed them for peace of mind and let them be. But it’s something I can try at some point if I install one of these in a v12 👍
@AtherisMods I've not experienced a crash either. When I would leave point K connected to ground or floating it wouldn't turn off the system. I did have a v7 have a mechacon crash back in 2012, it was my very first attempt at soldering and I was sloppy with my wire routes. Wire H ended up at a screw terminal for the heatshield and shorted to ground, thereby issuing a mechacon crash and the same symptoms happened afterwards. Laser pickup not moving, no video output, eject led blinking, fuse PS11 blown, in that case ic BA5815FM was shorted to ground. I forget the way to test that IC but it's probably on my drives somewhere. I finally got the laser printer, just need to get over this head cold/ sore throat now. Cheers!
@@haloslayer255 If you ever end up finding how to test that IC I’d love to read up on it. I recently installed that matrix infinity SE with a picfix on a V10 and I no longer get a power LED on the console. I spoke with Modzville about it and he thinks that maybe I need to swap the picfix resistor out, and that he’s seen this before. Have you? I didn’t test any further yet, kinda took a break from it. Mind if I shoot you a message when I get around to revisiting that console? Feel better soon dude.
@AtherisMods I've experienced it on a v9. With the v9 using a 1.5k ohm resistor, it resulted in the system fan spinning as fast as it could with no power LED activity and no video output. I'd see what a 2k or 2.2k ohm resistor does. Most of the time, 1.5k ohm resistors should work with a few exceptions. Most notably on the v9 revisions where a 2k ohm resistor works on European versions and a 2.2k ohm resistor works on ntsc-u (j?) v9 revisions. I'd seen on Twitter that someone in Europe was attempting to use a 2.2k ohm resistor, and it was causing issues where the laserfix was slightly too slow and damage still occurred to the La6508. I think that was about a year ago on Twitter. I remember when Kel was able to find the comsoft v4 hex files, the original author mentioned creating a v5 of the slimfix (comsoft fix) that would use a transistor to better determine when the logic signal went low indicating a crash. I think they ment about swapping R1 on J for the shutdown with the needed transistor, but then Sony made their own fix on the v13.
@@Genotypic-and-Genes yes but only if the ESP32 has the same pinout. Not all ESP32 are the same. Gusse should have guidelines on his website for which ESP32 to use. I’m also recommending using ESP32 with the external antenna now. Much better signal. New guide to follow this year :)

What kind of soldering iron did you use to solder on the esp32 to the methylene flex?
The iron tip is a T12-JL02
Is it okay to flash the firmware using those already soldered esp32 dev boards and then delsoldering and then putting it into Methylene?
