Here's my version of the ending: The dogs die in some kind of freak rocket accident, but with the help of robots, the bodies are recovered and a nice, tearjerking, serene funeral is held for the brave animals who rescued their fellow dog. Each grave is decorated with a statue of each character and some kind of flower. Bud expresses his pride at his puppies for sacrificing their lives while comforting his mate. The Buddies' owners, with eyes full of tears, agree that they will get through the puppies' deaths together and form a bond. "Look!" says one kid, and they look into the skies, seeing six stars, four blue, one pink, and one orange, surrounding the moon, symbolizing that the canines are now playing in space, free to explore the moon forever. The movie ends on that shot, fading to black, while the stars themselves linger on the screen for a bit, before fading themselves. We hear one last bout of laughter from the Buddies, and the credits begin. And then I would make ZomBuddies.
My ending: The bad guy sets the rocket's course for Jupiter, and the pups all fly into Jupiter's atmosphere, and they all get owned by storms, lightning, high pressure, etc.
I would so disagree with killing off these puppies in this but the zombuddies doesn’t sound like a bad idea xD (but then I’m sure there’s other ways to be a zombie than just dying so yeah...)

Dude, these "buddies" movies were like... my childhood. Seeing you tear them to pieces kiiinda makes my childhood take a few hits, but it's very oddly satisfying at the same time. Just goes to show how certain things get dumber and dumber as you grow, lol. I'm kinda tempted to write, like... versions of these buddies stories that logically make sense. But maybe that would just be a waste of time. Anyways, keep it up!
Righting (writing ;) ) a wrong is never a waste of time. It's a good exercise in proper storytelling, movie making, script writing, etc. I say do it, then use footage from the Buddies movies while you narrate the story as it should be in your opinion. I'd watch that!
Spudnik has a uniform with a Soviet patch on it while Yuri has a Dutch flag on his arm (obviously a Russian flag miscolored looking Dutch). This means that Spudnik was a cosmonaut from the Soviet era and Yuri is from the Russian federation which could only mean Spudnik was on the space station and left there before 1991 and Yuri got his way there some decades after.
I remember watching this movie as a kid; We see Spudnik reunite with his owner, and his owner looks almost exactly the same age as he does in his picture. Heck, his voice hasn't even changed yet!
Since when did they send dogs (let alone any other animals) in space in current time? The many times they tried to do it in the past, the animals mostly ended up dying on the missions.
So, I do have to make a small point for you. There is a reason that things have to be moved at a certain angle for re entry I believe. It's basically a difference between something coming in straight down and something coming in at a angle. Why they had it aim to the ground though is beyond me as most of the time they have them land in the ocean to help with impact and heat.

The astronomy nerd in me really REALLY hates this movie. You didn't mention the worst part. The people who work at Not-NASA can't tell the difference between a meteor shower and an asteroid belt. A meteor shower is space debris burning up in the atmosphere. That thing the puppies went through that damaged the ship was an asteroid belt. Would it kill the people writing a movie in space to actually research a fucking thing about space?

Yuri Gagarin died in flying accident, and those tend to leave bodies deformed enough to imply some sort of conspiracy. But Yuri in this movie has a flag of modern Russia on his shoulder, not Soviet one, so I think, that's a coincidence. Sputnik having both Soviet coat of arms on the chest and Russian flag on the shoulder makes almost no sense.
One thing I do like about these early Buddies films is that Rosebud is played by Liliana Mumy, who is freaking beautiful and voices my favourite character in The Loud House.

My sister used to like this movie, I found it to be one of the worst movies I had ever seen. Yeah I was too old for it when it came out but I wouldn't have liked it when I was a kid either (I wasn't crazy about Air Bud 1 as a kid). Even by kids movie standards, this movie was terrible.

I hate to say anything kind about this movie, but that is literally a thing, a very terrifying thing. The atmosphere might be gaseous but it's still particulate matter that can deflect things. It's not like hitting water but it's still not insubstantial. Reentry corridors have to be very carefully calculated.

The astronomy nerd in me really REALLY hates this movie. You didn't mention the worst part. The people who work at Not-NASA can't tell the difference between a meteor shower and an asteroid belt. A meteor shower is space debris burning up in the atmosphere. That thing the puppies went through that damaged the ship was an asteroid belt. Would it kill the people writing a movie in space to actually research a fucking thing about space?

I swear I'll never understand Hollywood's obsession with making movies about dogs and then making them so painful to sit through. It's like they don't care and just want to make a quick buck. Oh wait...
Yuri Gagarin died in flying accident, and those tend to leave bodies deformed enough to imply some sort of conspiracy. But Yuri in this movie has a flag of modern Russia on his shoulder, not Soviet one, so I think, that's a coincidence.
Sputnik having both Soviet coat of arms on the chest and Russian flag on the shoulder makes almost no sense.

One thing I do like about these early Buddies films is that Rosebud is played by Liliana Mumy, who is freaking beautiful and voices my favourite character in The Loud House.

I think the movie is trying to bring in the "Gravity Slingshot" which NASA uses to save fuel but it little to late to bring in actual science for this movie! x.x

It's really sad when the puppet raccoon looks more lifelike than the real dogs with simulated talking mouths.
When leaving a large celestial body you're supposed to orbit around it and then launch out of that orbit (at least that's what I've heard from people who know how to play Kerbal), that's why they need to go around the moon even if it's into an area they can't get communications
I remember liking this movie as a kid, kinda regreat it but still has some love in my heart, guess shit can be loved after all
My sister used to like this movie, I found it to be one of the worst movies I had ever seen. Yeah I was too old for it when it came out but I wouldn't have liked it when I was a kid either (I wasn't crazy about Air Bud 1 as a kid). Even by kids movie standards, this movie was terrible.
