I'm doing a masters in data science and artificial intelligence abroad in September. I originally did my bachelors in philosophy and sociology. These salaries are keeping me hopeful!
I'm a physics undergrad so after doing my masters in physics should I opt for a master's in data science or should I do a PhD in astrophysics ... however at the end I wanna be a data scientist... please suggest me sth 🙏
@@bereniceg777 I would do the masters in data science if you eventually want to become a data scientist; you’ll get into industry much faster, which means more work experience and income. The programs I got into in the UK are only one year too. You could always do a phd afterwards if you want to do research.
Just got a new grad data scientist position after completing my master's and the base salary you reported was pretty accurate. It'd be interesting to implement a GUI feature where a user can enter their stats (i.e., years of experience, company, and job title) and have their suggested base salary and/or TC outputted. That would be very useful. Could train a linear regression model on the data you already have and predict the user's salary. Anyway, great video!
We're definitely thinking about building a salary calculator. I think the values would really depend on a wide variety of factors though but would love to talk to you more about it.
@@iqjayfeng definitely! I would love to give any input I can. I’m sure there are a lot of factors to consider, haha. Feel free to message me (I’m new to commenting on TH-cam videos so I’m assuming PM messaging is available. If it’s not we can use another platform).
Wouldn’t a city and state stat be useful for the salary calculator as well? Considering 140k salary in Alabama, can take you far versus living in cali or New York where 140k salary will only get you a 600sqft one bedroom apartment
Nice analysis! Can you break it down by different company industries? healthcare, ads, social media, sharing economy (uber/lyft/airbnb etc), energy, insurance etc?
I'd like to see the salaries for people who have 10-15 plus years as data engineers and switch to data science. Because a lot of the job is overlapping.
I have visited more than 50 companies' career websites online, and most of the recruiting for either senior level or director level. I have seen very few entry-level data scientist postings online. Could you recommend any sources to search entry-level data science jobs for Masters students in the USA?
Want to see a video for What's the pros and cons of career path for data professionals and how you would choose😊 DS analytics? MLE? Data engineer? SDE data platform? MLops? So curious!
I did notice that Tesla or SpaceX isn't on your list. I'm sure there are valid reasons why. Sidenote- I am totally beside myself that Lyft pays their DS more than Uber, like shocked pickachu face!
Could you suggest where I can find ds jobs as intern or junior, good at math/statistics, python, and some knowledge of db, powerbi, excel, and very few knowledge of cv, neural network
Hi man hopefully you doing well! I was in college for 2 years but for personal reasons I changed the course of my life and joined the military. I really wants to finish what I started and looking around for a degree this one got my attention, do you think it’s late for me to get into this area after a good pause when it comes to college? My worries are focused more in like maybe I’m not a young guy out of HS, maybe to get a job in this area it’ll be better if you are a young guy etc… I’m 24 I’m still young but Idk, what are your thoughts or recommendations?
It’s never too late. I’m in the same boat as you. I’m graduating in June after interning at a top 3 social media company last year for 6 months as a Data Analyst. I get recruiters in my inbox now for Data Scientist and Data Engineer positions. I’m being recruited for Intuit and Pinterest as I speak. And I have a job lined up at a startup. The market is red hot right now even for new grads. You can use your GI bill money to come back to college and be comfortable. Plus military experience looks good on a resume if you spin it well. Don’t be discouraged because you’re “older”. I’m older than you and still got it done. You’re still young as hell, give it a go if you really want it. This field isn’t going away any time soon.
@@noyes8659 Man I’m glad to hear about your success honestly!! And thanks for the words I’m really interested in this field and like you said I have the opportunity now to go for it using that GI Bill. Btw how was your experience during the process and how hard was to adapt your self back to the civilian life if you can tell me?
Hey man, I’ll be 26 this October, 2022 and I’m a beginner at data science. Started 2 months ago. What do you mean you’re old? Come on man, hop on it already
I'm a data science manager in a fortune 500 company. You should go for it. There is no age limit in this area. You should study data science, take up a job and later look at doing masters in business analytics or analytics for management to excel in your position.

It's a bit hard to classify companies distinctly into groups but I think we can definitely add this in soon!

I love these breakdowns of the salaries.
I think your audiences are more interested in how to get in and entry level salary. Getting in is always hard.
