This is just about the most flawless, live Donna performance of this song, ever! Her timing, pitch, tone, everything is terrific. And her band was smokin' hot! This was only released on videotape in '83. This is definitely due for a remastered blu ray release, pronto!
Donna Summer, my idol since I was 6. Now I'm 16. I can remember when My father bought me a CD which had this song and I fell in love with her voice. Since that moment I started to collect all her discography. She was a really cool singer, I wish I lived during the disco era, I'd be so glad to dance to Donna's hits at the discotheque. Greeting from Puebla, Mexico.
Feeling the same from France, I'm 19, and would have loved to dance to this tune with you mate! Hopefully we can ask the DJs to put this on in the discothèques 😉
I've discovered her more recently, I'm 20 now, and I'm a pianist keyboardist. Expectedly, I miss the 70's to.o. So much musical/cultural diversity in all genres, not only disco. She's completely unicue. Saludos de Rumania!
Being a professional musician I've had the great pleasure of playing with some of the best entertainers in the business but never got to play with Donna's backing band however ,my wife and I saw her in person in the 70's... she sang everything live no lip-synch.... WOW!, what an incredible voice she had . much better in person then on her recordings.. .Love you Donna you will be missed...
R.I.P. Queen of Disco LaDonna Adrian Gaines aka Donna Summer God Bless your soul you was a huge part of my life growing up in the 70s and 80s My heart is breaking cause of your lost Thank you for the memories
I was born in 1967, my first musical references in 1972 are Earth Wind & Fire and Donna Summer. Donna aside from Diana Ross (to me) was the very first total cross-over success for a female Black Artist. She made such an impact Dick Clark allowed her to be the first guest host of American Bandstand. Donna's was the Original Whitney Houston, from her carefully crafted persona to her unique vocal style and imearsurable stage presence. " I will trully miss this Bad Girl"
When are they going to make a movie of her????? Like goshdam this women is the queen of Disco 😭💜 I grew up with your music my dad and I still jam to your tunes on the way to school R.I.P angel ❤️
Come on guys Donna Summer needs our Vote to be in the Rock and Roll hall of fame. so go to the rock and roll hall of fame website to vote for her. she deserves the rock and roll hall of fame its long overdue
Man she was great. I miss the days of disco, I was young and grew up with it. Now I'm just an old fart! To the young, enjoy it now! It goes by so quickly!
Rich Green it was cool Donna was queen of disco.now today this rap hiphopgarbage is not music it's shit real talent died in the 80,s,,,Gaga came along and I believe there's hope yet she is amazing.and queen for those think M,Jackson was great umm he was but the ladt20yrs of his life he was living off the late70,sand 80,s.his clothing got more attention then he did, that brings me to were is real bands at today?
@@antonyward8971 Yup! It's like two wonderful songs in one! I wonder if this song was a hit when released? BTW, a lovely tribute by a Japanese band I stumbled upon some years back: th-cam.com/video/cOIWVoskWhA/w-d-xo.html
This brings back so much great memories in 79 i was graduating from high school. Hitting the nightclubs and dnacing to all the disco tunes. Donna Summers is the queen of disco. she will be sadly missed. she made alot of girls, feel better about themselves through the words of her great music. I will miss her dearly
I'm in shock, and very sad. Her voice and sound defined an era. Though I was young during her late 70's hits heyday, her music played a large part of the soundtrack of my life! Rest in Peace DONNA SUMMER Love You!!!!!!!!!!!
Donna Summer was the voice that graced my childhood in the late 70s & early 80s. Her music conjures up memories of long carefree lazy summers of hanging out with friends. Thank you for the memories, Ms. Summer. May you rest in peace.
I'm so glad she started out in the church. God gave her a gift to share with the world. What gift has He given you? Share God's gifts with the world. You will be glad you did.
Tracy Morgan brought me here😊 I am so into disco right now... my parents used to party til the break of dawn listening to Ms Summer... let's not forget that she was also the queen of the most coked out label in the game at the time and still remained graceful even when zooted out of her mind lol. check out "bad girls live" or any other disco performances by anyone... COKE CITY!
34 years ago I first heard this wonderful song,on medium wave radio Monte Carlo. (Beirut, Lebanon.) And no where its not heard. Only a small excerpt of those years, preserved on magnetic tape. Thank you TH-cam, and Donna Summer, back to moments of his youth
what a talent and just like that, gone. 62 years lived rightly inside this unique talented person. It seemed like along time and yet if you compare that with how long this planet has been here, it was mere a flash, a flicker of light. But to those that knew of her, what a wondrous spectacle it was. Time passes by so quick...
Oh my goodness. How many times will we have to cry for our favorites? I was never able to hear this song without crying. Now I can't stop crying for the magnificent artinst who kept us dancing. She was a star, a queen, a gentle person. Rest in peace, Donna.
Cause they said it really loud, they said it on the air, on the radio! Whoa on the radio! Miss Donna will live in my heart forever because of this jam. Always makes me cry. Thank you so much for posting!
She was never embroiled in scandals, was a voice for a generation. Her soul and voice will ring forth in heaven. She lived a good life and never let fans down like so many others. Those whom seek fame would do well to try to follow in her footsteps. Sing well forever!
oh my... :( what a gal, what a lady ! An Earth Angel while we were blessed with your presence & a Heavenly Angel Now. ♥Donna, as you've been welcomed with open arms & once you've eased into Heaven, would you invigorate all your friends up there to sing & dance like you did here ? I ♥ you ...
I saw Donna Summer in concert twice here in Minnesota in 1999 and 2008. Her voice was every bit as clear live as on recording. Still miss her presence in this world. What a gifted voice God gave her. She was a humble, private and peaceful woman who loved her Lord and her family above all.
Yes, it was recorded at the Pacific Ampitheatre in Costa Mesa California back in August of 1983. It was issued on both VHS and later DVD, as "A Hot Summer Night With Donna". I would check, or keep checking, ebay for copies.
Donna Summer was definately the best female vocalist , live or recorded that still makes people get on the dance floor or sing, i miss her , and love her music
Reminds me of that Jodie Foster movie "Foxes". You know the one where she's lying on the bed with other girls for half the movie. She really didn't give off the friend vibe, more like she wanted to have sex with the other girls vibe in the movie. I guess she wasn't as good as an actress back them to play heterosexual convincingly.
Sal Amander Hey Sal! You're right, it always reminds me of that movie. It was kind of weird(the movie) but I still loved it. Reminds me so much of my childhood. I love the 70s and the 80s. BTW, I hate to say it but tracy morgan brought me here like a lot of the comments before me.
This is just about the most flawless, live Donna performance of this song, ever! Her timing, pitch, tone, everything is terrific. And her band was smokin' hot! This was only released on videotape in '83. This is definitely due for a remastered blu ray release, pronto!

Perfect vocal. Sounding just like the recorded version.
As Pattie Labelle said.
NO one does it like Donna Summer.
And she is right.
Being a professional musician I've had the great pleasure of playing with some of the best entertainers in the business but never got to play with Donna's backing band however ,my wife and I saw her in person in the 70's... she sang everything live no lip-synch.... 1:41 always gets me. One of my favorite songs by Donna! RIP Donna, we still love your music!
You like the song when it speeds up which I do however I love the slow start I reckon a ballad could have been penned just on that slow piece alone.
@@antonyward8971 Yup! It's like two wonderful songs in one! I wonder if this song was a hit when released? BTW, a lovely tribute by a Japanese band I stumbled upon some years back: th-cam.com/video/cOIWVoskWhA/w-d-xo.html

mysticaltyger49 Me too! Kind of an ‘end of an era’ kind of thing. She was just magical. Incredible class and talent.
This is a fave. A true artist with an impeccable voice. She will be greatly missed.
