Im not knocking the fame of those women, as much as Im clarifying what Donna represented, where the Rihannas, Beyonces and Madonnas, are involved. Donna became a pop superstar...and those females that I just named, are far closer to her level in mainstream pop achievements than a Ronstadt or even a Diana Ross (who is much more associated with the success of a group, than her solo success)

A VERY surprising choice for 1982. This was the height of the anti-disco era. You can see it in so many of these audiences tepid responses. If you did not live then, you have no idea how much disco was reviled during this period after it crashed and burned. Donna though, that voice, rose above it. Wonder why they just didn't have her do one of her non-disco tunes that were popular by then (The Wanderer, Finger on the Trigger love is in control). I can't think of any other artist from the disco years that was even left standing by 1980, let alone 1982. Donna was able to change with the times because her voice was so magnificent.
Don’t know who got the dumb idea to override her live singing & put the recording over it...Donna Summer got a gifted voice who sound so good live...if not just watch Live & more Encore!
