The film is the 800 iso film Kodak uses in their cheap disposable cameras that flicfilm buys in bulk. Another banger video, that anamorphic footage is chefs kiss

I've been dabbling in it myself...even adapting pano lenses to my regular full frame cameras...like the M10M...wow!
I've only heard that online. Maybe your source is better. I've heard that its the real deal from a certain unnamed retailer. I would have brushed this off if that same person didn't also tell me that cease and desist letters came out from Kodak so "get it while you can". Who knows. Maybe they just wanted to sell film.

I’d be very surprised if it wasn’t Lomo 800/ Kodak 800 GT. 800 GT is close to Portra 800 in some ways but a bit more saturated, contrasty, and grainy. The grain and very cool shadows definitely hint at that. And the halation isn’t more than Portra 800 or GT 800 when shooting scenes like that. 800T would have just ripped those lights apart.
I love the color rendering of that film. I actually like that double-exposure image at timestamp 5:45.

So awesome you shot this film I recently shot it and got my scans back and must say I am a huge fan! I agree with the plastic canister it’s odd. But the quality it offers and for the price it’s something will pick up more!
12000% the plastic sux's but if it saves money ... im down
Most of the increases in price and shortages in stock for film have been caused by the existing materials that the cartridges are made from. That is why Flic Film uses plastic.

Hi man, another great episode.
One thing i noticed: the footage looks a bit squished, as if the aspect ratio is wrong. It is especially noticable when you tilt your head to the side. Is all of it recorded on the anamorphic lens? I noticed that on mine aswell - depending on the focus distance, the image gets squished or whatever the opposite is. Great video though! Nice filmstock, nice energy, keep it up!

I love this film. It feels in between lomo 800 and Porta 800 with all it's saturation but it can get a bit grainy. I even shot the Aurora Borealis with it and it came out great!

The plastic cartridge are slightly thicker in my experience. its caused issues with feeding in some of my cameras

Those plastic cartridges get stuck in Leica M bodies as well. Ya gotta give it a really good smack on the palm to get them out or carry around some pliers to gently help slide it out.

yep I get issues with plastic cartridges in my Fuji GSW690III and pano kit. Not all the time, but only plastic cartridges if does happen. I dont think the 120 converter doodads fit properly in some instances.

I've been tempted to grab a Mamiya 7, but I've been content with my 645 Pro TL for going on 20 years now. Something about 6x4.5 that I like, enough that I use MFT gear and a Pentax 645Z for digital to get 4:3 natively. Video is great on ultrawide, images are great too; sold me on picking some up to use my pano back+645 setup.

there's not really any other options. 800t, Portra, and Max 800 are the only 800 speed films currently.

Im a hack who uses vintage lenses on mirrorless cameras because I am poor. But WHOA the color and look of this film is very nice. I would shoot a roll or two I think of this stuff. Nice work brother.

@@BadFlashes as an original film shooter, I can say for me, its the best of both worlds. Old vintage look with instant results. I swear so much less then I did when I would get my film back 3 weeks later and be like rage hating my under or over exposed shots.
What does the film rebate edge read? Likely something like CN 800 - (1, 2, or 3) I'm guessing. Same film in Fuji underwater disposables and Lomo 800 which is made by Kodak.

Literally just shot a roll of that yesterday. My lab told me it's as good as Portra 800 but slightly cheaper (literally, just slightly)

Really Nice photos. This film is very nice with punchiness to it. As far as some of your double exposures. It seems some of your Schotts run into each other and you get split photos. Just crop out that part of it and you will have solid photos. I will see if my photo lab has this film. They have everything else. If you are near Losangeles. Actor Jason Lee has opened a film camera store. You and the other Jason should check it out and do a video on it.

Two things, anamorphic lens on a standard 35mm film camera .. does it work? assuming there are plenty for a Nikon F or Canon EF mount. I'm not a cinema guy so I don't know much about them. is it a way of getting a pano image on a standard frame that just needs to be stretched in post? Also as soon as I seen the cat walking across the road at 8:34 i was hoping you would turn and get that image, s curve road with a single subject in the middle, what could have been.

Yes, anamorphic lenses squeezes the image so that the horizontal field view is wider when un squeezed in post … or technically like back in the day un squeezed through another projecting lens. That’s how they shot a lot of movies when it never went through digital post.

@BadFlashes oh if you ever shoot Kono film I have seen that be really bad for this, I can't say if it was worse as it was a very different camera (p&s) but then it behaves fine in a manual winder and I love the monsoon in the woodlands🤷♂️

Flic Film gets stuck in my Leica m3 as well. It go so stuck it jammed my advance lever and i thought id broken my camera. Please be careful. I have to peel off the sticker to prevent further ones from getting stuck

Wait you can adapt anamorphic lenses to m7? I wanted to shoot anamorphic on film like a year ago and couldn't figure out how to get it working beyond some janky anamorphic adapter thing...

Aurora is respooled Portra 800. Excellent price to get the same goodness as Portra. However, I prefer Lomo CN 800 as it is a little more saturated than Portra.
Tests show that it is not the same as the Kodak disposable camera film. Kodak calls that film Gold 800, and to my eye it has a color palette more similar to Fujifilm, and quite different to Portra. Lomo is more similar to Portra than the disposable 800.
Lomo CN 800 remains my favorite 800 color negative, but due to price, Aurora has to be #2.
Who would have guessed a few years ago that Lomography would make a film as good as or better than Portra? Or that Kodak would allow someone to undercut Portra on price?
It is a strange world these days.
