- When India fought its first war of Independence in 1857, the military towns across the state rose against the gross injustice of the British. Enraged by her degraded condition, Aziz-un - a courtesan who had traveled from the cultural Lucknow to the gritty city of Kanpur just to be independent - decided to turn against the British. She starts out as a spy, entering at parties and passing information about her British patrons to the rebels, sheltering the rebels and even actively participating in the planning of the uprising.

There is a place in Kanpur City called Mool ganj dominated by Muslims and was once infamous for prostitution. Respected Azeez un Nisaa could have her set up over there. Unfortunately, no such place is known to the people of 2023. It's high time such places should be identified and declared a heritage site. I know of Peshwa, the massacre of Satti Chaura but it's only through you that I have come to know of such a great person from Kanpur. I offer my gratitude with folded hands. Thank you 🙏
