Great video Ellie! Just a heads up, the chimney will need to be in place with all vents open and cap removed when used with the gas burner. This is so that it can be used safely with the door in place :)
@@TheLewVega are you saying ooni shipped a product with a useless cap? Why can't you just leave the door open when using the gas burner. Struggling to understand the comment.
@@davidyeates5525 Basically too much heat escapes when the door is open. The burner probably can't keep the oven hot enough. they might have that weird arch door thingie a la Pro.
The size of the box for my Karu (12) was big enough, this is on a different level. I was very impressed by the quality of the packaging and the outer box, so much I kept it in my garage for many months. Jealous that you have the 16 but looking forward to you videos of cooking with it. Enjoy.
Our Pro is less than a year old LOL. We love it (does look a bit like yours already - it is a work horse!). We figured the pro was due for a redesign when we bought it and we clearly weren’t mistaken. The new stove looks great. Looking forward to seeing if there is a dramatic difference in handling in your future vids. CHEERS from Canada.
Hi - I’m looking forward as I love the pro and that it can take big logs which I love to use - so with the grate being the same, that’s a good start! And a big hi to Canada - I watch quite a few Canadian TH-camr channels!
I, too, have the Ooni Pro 16. We are still becoming friends. LOL. I wonder when this model will be available in Canada and the price as our price is usually double that of other countries. Looking forward to your first bake! Hope you make bread too. Would love to see how well this oven retains heat for bread baking! 🇨🇦
Thanks for another excellent video. I can feel the excitement. The stone is huge! But you didn't mention how thick it was. As we both know, the stone mass is important in retaining the heat of the oven when doing multiple pizzas. Looks like a well made oven.
Let the pizza cooking commence 😃😃😃😃😛😛 , looks good , I’d be curious how well it would cook other things at a slightly lower temperature , but hotter than a kitchen oven , as it has a door , like calzones , lasagne etc
I totally agree re: insulation. I have the Ooni Pro 16 and I have to say, I am not overly impressed with the heat retention. My main aim to to bake bread. There is only so much pizza one can eat. I am contemplating a Gozney Dome in the future. There stones and insulation are so much better than Ooni.
Love, love all your videos Could you give a recommendation, from your experience, what table you use I am expecting my Karu 16 in mid-October Thank you
Hi! Thank you so much for watching! I would use a strong metal topped table as the legs on the oven aren’t that high and so I expect the heat at the back to reach the table top even with a stone underneath the grate. This is the one I am still using in this vid: th-cam.com/video/VJM2DJSdYFc/w-d-xo.html. 👍🍕
Hi , is the thermometer touching stone ? I have a thermocouple but I'm having problems to get it sticked to stone on .y ooni karu 12. I was thinking to use vitkas fire cement, don't know if it's safe to use it on stone.
Hi - I can see a metal plate from the thermometer on the right side which I believe is the Ooni sensor for the air temperature so it is not touching the stone.
@@Got2EatPizza thank you for checking 😀🙏 I think the air temperature measurement is a huge benefit You always know where you ‚stand‘ with the temperature. Especially when working with wood. First I thought Ooni will provide a stone temperature measurement, but on second guess I think thats not necessary. Once you reach the stone temperature (still measured with the infrared device) you can work only with the air temperature. The stone temperature should remain the same. What is your experience with the stone temperature? Does it vary much?
@@Got2EatPizza Yes but disasters have nearly happened a few times. A simple tweak at the base of the leg would have created a leg lock. Obviously you have not had the issue.
Hi - I’m not sure Ooni do as the website shows the countries they deliver to. Maybe an independent pizza oven shop or Amazon? The issue is with the gas in that they add the regulator to the spec of the country.
Hi - I ordered mine on the day it was released in June, and it did state then it would be early Sept for delivery, then changed to early Oct - so that window was the date given on the website - orders after the 1 and 2nd day after release show a longer lead in time on their delivery section, but glad it arrived!

Hi Lewis ! Thanks for the heads up before the gas burner vid - can I still use it with the door off and the cap on like I do with the Karu 12?
@@Got2EatPizza sadly it’s not designed that way - a pizza door is coming soon so that set-up is TBC :)
Ok - thanks very much for letting me know!

Hi - the first cook will be up in the next hour! And it does have better insulation I think than the Pro!
I am so envious right now, I could never get this 😭 but super happy for you 🤪
Hi - thank you 🙏 😊 - it’s because of the lovely support from you and everyone on this channel that I’ve been able to buy this and I’m very grateful.

Hi - thank you! I will check to see if it’s the same depth as the pro stone.
The stone is the same depth as the Karu 12 stone but not as deep as the Pro stones which are slightly deeper.
Congrats 1st unboxing of the commercial Karu 16!
Thank you!! 😁. I didn’t know that it was the first!
Looks great, can’t wait to see fired up
Hi - yes, should hold my larger logs I use in the pro which is really what I wanted.
My Pro grate looks like that as well! Definitely been through a few firings
😀 - yep - it looks worn but still works well!

Hi - I am going to be more adventurous with this oven so we will see what it can do!
That's a sexy oven
My main criticism, besides pricing, still stands.
They should have improved bottom insulation.
Hi - agree that it has been put at top of my budget, plus the gas burner, possible pizza oven door are extra and that adds up.

Tucker, I think they moved the October deliveries out to early Nov. I’m in same boat as you.
9:44 where in the oven is the temperature measured?
It measures the air temp so I’ll see if I can locate the sensor tomorrow to see where it comes out.
@@Got2EatPizza perfect, thanks 😀
So I checked the oven and the sensor is located half way up on the right side - it's a metal plate and will measure the internal air temperature.
@@Got2EatPizza thank you for checking 😀🙏 I think the air temperature measurement is a huge benefit You always know where you ‚stand‘ with the temperature. Especially when working with wood.

I need to use it more but it is as deep as the Karu 12 stone and from my 1st cook it held the heat really well so I am impressed so far.
Superb, just watching 🔥🍕🔥🍕🔥🍕
Thank you! 🍕👍😀
I wish they had added a leg lock mechanism. Mine collapse while moving to the table.
Oh no……hope it’s ok.

No,, but I’m going to keep in mind just in case.
Who do we get in contact with if we want this delivered to Australia? Or know of any suppliers here? TIA

In a future video with this oven, can you make a Neapolitan pizza following all the AVPN regulations? 🤩
Hi - I will try once I get used to the oven - I will try to do the AVPN reg style pizza!
How did you buy the Gas burner early? When i look it says available in October?
Hi - it came up on the UK Ooni site last week and I bought it there and then and I got it this week.

Yay! Enjoy yours when it arrives.
are you paid for these ooni vids?
Hi - nope! I buy the ovens and cook, review them.
How i wish you could gift me your old karu pro 😅
