You mean America where a tourist can buy a passe partout for all national parks upfront? Parks if which many are a spectacle. And have many facilities and trails for the not lazy car sitting people.
@@stoomkracht I have to agree. However the Parks Service in America survives, partially, on funds received at the gate. As far as the less mobile? I am getting there! Cheers!
I've been to a couple Thai NP's. They all feature the similar landscapes, and not impressive for me who have seen a lot more spectacular natural beauty and wilderness elsewhere. Charging two tier admission is acceptable, as those parks need to be maintained accordingly. Over tourism is destroying places as such globally.
Honestly i don't care that much about 2 tier pricing. It is often 3 tier (work permit holders can sometimes get either a discount OR even Thai price depending on the park/staff member). Yes it's a double standard, but the people who complain about fairness are invariably the ones saying "life isn't fair" when pressed about other inequalities so i have limited sympathy.
Hi Tim, I have been to several national parks. Also that one up the road where you live, it's beautiful. The Thais are doing a great job with the national parks in my opinion. Most are spectacular and are an oasis of piece and quiet. Clean public restrooms and showers and sometimes a place for camping (not really my thing...) If you live in a place without many public parks like i.e. Hua Hin, it's great to head outside the city to visit a national park. Dual pricing doesn't bother me at all.
@stevebomonster I'd be living like a king. It was 55 when I arrived here in 2009. Fortunately, I transferred 70k back then to buy our house and take a gap year travelling.
@stevebomonster That was a scary time. At least it's fairing betting now, and my pension increased 17% over the last two years, so that has helped to redress the balance.
The two tier pricing i don't have a problem with it because it's still cheaper than my own country entrance fee's in some places. After all we don't pay the taxes for the parks in Thailand, its the Thais country not ours if you don't like paying extra then there's a simple solution don't go🤗 it'll still be open without your 150-200 BAHT trust me it will be a lot quieter without an ex-pat or tourist bitching about paying for it. icon management are going to be doing serious time in prison and it won't be just be the management it will be celebraties if they have knownly knew it was a pyramid or scam.
Many Thais don't pay taxes because their income is under the threshold. Also foreigners who do work in Thailand and pay taxes still pay the eternal tourist price. Also, it can easily be Thai 50, foreigner 500 baht. Also, it is not limited to tax payed locations. Zoos, and what not do it too. Because it is engrained in the way of doing things. Lalala

why does anyone complain about paying $8.00 {US} to visit a natioanl park. you are a guest in this country and it cost money to maintain these sites.
Go back to sleep. Thank you.
Two tier pricing exists in United States parks, why not here?
Why not nowhere ?

I can see why they charge more for foreigners, locals pay income tax. BUT 10 times the local charge is just a ripoff, I don't go there.
Stingy Barry. Average Thai salary is around 10,000 baht a month.
@@trevor5526 It's got nothing to do with Thai's wages, it's about the gov. taxing tourists. Just because you have too much money doesn't mean all foreigners do.
@stevebomonster Really? Where? How much have you paid so far?
@barryhh8217 Foreigners have always been viewed as rich in Thailand, and we are by comparison. Plus, they have to pay for the upkeep of the grounds even in the low season when there's no tourists. Bhutan charges £160 a day visitors fee, and the UK wants £25 to enter York Minster.
Went to Khao Yai National Park 6 months ago with my Thai partner and as you say I was charged 10 times her price. As she was paying, there was a bit of banter at the entry booth and as we drove off, she muttered a few swear words in perfect English. Guess even a Thai can see it's a rip off.
Unless someone is a subject matter expert, I don't care what their opinion is regarding any product.
If they are a subject matter expert, the question then becomes "do they derive an income from the sales or promotion of the product?"
Regardless, all of this is heavily modified by the old "if it looks too good to be true, it is".
Won't pay national Park prices for farangs.
Thailand would never beat indonisan national parks absolutely stunning.
Over land Thailand is not that beautiful and they get rid of forests to make way for plantations.
Indonisa by train wow you don't want to miss anything over land just blown me away the scenery
So to summarize, your opinion is the only one worth considering. Got it.
even though I am a farang living in the land of smiles for 1/2 the year (179 days a year hehe)... I don't mind 2 tier pricing ... but I do raise an eyebrow if the gap is too much
Two tiered pricing- I dont object. Same in America
I am 72 now, so I get in free…but prior to that, I had to pay the IN-State or Out of State fee. They are well kept, maintained and supervised. Many workers, I am told, are part time or volunteers!
As far as the less mobile? I am getting there! Cheers!
Pink ID card gives thai price 4 expat at some parks
I’ve been able to get in for ‘local price’ with a work permit a few times. It doesn’t really bother me.
I have noticed that speaking a little bit of Thai, having a Thai driving license and asking politely often does the same.
@@NomenNescio99 agree, as well team up with thai ppl

@@PDSverre oh for sure!!
I agree over tourism , I do my part by not going to them...
Yes, despite paying the higher price, I always feel we’re getting good value
I live here in Thailand for half the cost of the UK, so I'm not too concerned about two tier pricing Tim.
@@trevor5526 thought UK state pension is fixed at the age you take it, no increases Thailand? Unless you haven't taken it yet... I retired 32 yrs ago.
Lalala

Perhaps not all greedy. But perhaps not doing their due diligence.
When I saw a celebrity endorsing a product, I felt sorry that they must have run into bad times...
Yeah..... down to their last 10 million baht and can't quite afford that red Ferrari that would look so good next to the yellow Porsche already in the garage!😂
Getting flood salt water inside the battery packs of an EV is potentially disastrous & very likely if the battery unit & covering is damaged in any way. The irony of the iCon name !
How do you get water in a sealed battery pack?
@@timnewtontoday EV battery casings are very low slung beneath the vehicle, prone to getting scraped, thus exposing the innards and it is a leap of faith to believe the battery assembly IS waterproof, and if not we know what salt corrosion can do.
Also Made in China should carry a red flag (excuse the pun) where quality assurance is concerned. Suggest you watch some of the TH-camr "StachedTraining" on EV fires & also the Brisbane TH-camr "MGuy Australia". This is no trivial blogging.
2 tier pricing well Tim I live here I am not a tourist if me and the wife see 2 tier pricing we talk to them if they do not let me have the same price as my wife we just leave and they loose its that simple I have Thai friends who see this practice and boycott also. It's a drop in the ocean but on the other foot integrating me into Thai society is also a bummer for the Thai nation through this practice also. Leading me to the question does Thailand want to integrate us spouses of Thai citizens at all ?
Easy answer to your last question. No. I don’t see that as a problem. Others do.
Disneyland has a discount for residents of Anaheim.
Yes, and probably a yearly subscription which is only useful for locals which get cheap access that way. So what?
@@stoomkracht Point being that there is dual pricing in the US. Oh, and my sister who lives in Utah buys a yearly subscription every year
I don’t agree with two tier pricing.. my country of Australia doesn’t charge foreigners a different price to locals as it would be labelled racism
They charge all foreigners the higher price. They’re not picking and choosing ‘races’.
@@timnewtontodayxenophobia is discrimination. And Thai officials are full of it. Just like they don't want outside help or suggestions.
Wow Tim, I remember your house is on the same level as the coast line and it is definitely not far from the sand washed ashore. Fingers crossed it stays away.
I have a bigger buffer zone on Samui.
Been to most of the big national parks. Most notable: managed to stay in Khao Yai for a few days in a cabin by the river and visit the Bat cave, Haeo Suwat waterfalls and a rather lackluster midnight safari. Doi Inthanon stood at the highest point in Thailand, then on to San Kamphaeng Hot Springs to boil a few eggs. Most notable rode elephant through forest on rough terrain, can't remember which park off hand as been to so many.
MOMA is free in Tasmania to locals….2 tier isn’t unusual around the world. NYC has a tourist tax in hotels.
Rain not too bad in Pattaya. It rains for, say, three hours then stops.
Some flooding, but it does not last.
I would not go on principle against the much higher price for foreigners.
Problem is thousands of people don't have principles.
Which is why racism is unapposed in Thailand.
Good lord!? Where did THAT come from?
@timnewtontoday w)Well, are Thais racist or not?
@@PeterBren I can’t think of any country that doesn’t have racist people. Which is odd because there’s only one ‘race’, the human race. Thais can be a bit more overt with their attitudes, other countries try to stifle it with legislation.
@@timnewtontodayOh I give up.
I am objecting to a clear racism in pricing, and I add they try to hide it by displaying the Thai price in Thai script, which they hardly ever use.
