      ThisLifeRiding I hope you can turn this into a fulltime job mate. By the way, do you have ANY plans for upgrading? Not that I mind the ninja 300, not at all. But it's usually inevitable for long time riders. Maybe something like a 500 or ninja 650?

      Mmh, ATM, no. I think I would love to get additional bikes but I don't think I'm getting a more powerful bike any time soon. I would love a DRZ-400 and some type of smaller cruiser but other then that, no. I started on an 1100 cruiser, so the Ninja 300 was my upgrade... to something more manageable.

    Or you can ride a GSXR and then you don't have to worry about gear! lol. good video though, that is a common problem for me as well.

    I work in a large supermarket and I always leave my gear upstairs in the computer room. It's only a very small room with 4 computers in, but I work nights as well so that really helps because the computer room is generally only used by day staff so it's always empty. The lockers in work are too damn small anyway to even think about fitting even some of my gear in there.
    The most annoying thing I find is when I'm going the gym. They have two sets of lockers - one by the main entrance in the open and in the changing rooms. I have to walk across the gym (it's pretty large) to get changed in the locker room, then walk back out across the gym to the entrance because the lockers in the locker room are too small to store my bag, motorbike gear and helmet, lol.

    • @ThisLifeRiding

      No sure, I would suggest getting a quote from your local insurance provider.

    • @tristannicholson4569
      @tristannicholson4569 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Bryan Bro You can get a quote online from any larger company. I suggest getting local insurance (avoid the larger companies) because its usually (not always) cheaper. I'm in CO so I couldn't tell yah numbers sadly but it should be less than 100$ a month. If yah can pay for the entire year its usually a lot cheaper than monthly payments. But there are so many variables it mostly lands on your driving record. I've been looking into it and if you do a msf course (150-300$) than insurance will usually be a little cheaper because your showing that you want to ride safely.

    Ninja 300 has a helmet hook (two actually) under the pillion seat. I always put my gloves in the helmet and hang the helmet from the hook. Needs to be a double d-ring system but keeps the helmet locked and you don't need to carry it around

    I live in the Midwest and ride almost everyday except when either salt or snow is on the ground...I sold my car but we still have a family car for the wife and kid... The biggest issue I have is when it is in the teens to the mid thirties the bike never gets up to Temp and runs rich causing a fumy exhaust that gets on you.

    hey Johnathan. I'm keen to get a bike but hardly even know the basics of riding. where should I start and how? also to past the test what are the essential things to know?

    • @ThisLifeRiding
      @ThisLifeRiding  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Best place to start is take the local MSF course if you are in the United States. Training is the best place to start because you will learn how to ride, get your license, and meet some cool people who are also interested in riding. Training will start you on the right foot and make sure you have all the right skills to stay safe and have fun. It will also help you choose your first bike as you will be better informed about riding and what you might like. Training is the best place to start.

    Honestly I just carry my jacket around all the time and throw it on my seat. My bike has a hook under the seat for my helmet. I just wear the rest everywhere. For work, employers are required to give you a place to put your personal belongings. Just throw it in a locker or break room or office. Only time I carry the helmet is when I might rain cause I like a dry helmet to put on. Only thing questionable in this video is how it cuts down travel time. When I ride over driving my car I give myself 5 or 10 extra minutes for gear on and off plus I let my bike warm up more cause carburetor.

    • @ThisLifeRiding
      @ThisLifeRiding  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Nice info. I hadn't considered adding time for putting on or taking off gear. I usually do it while walking in our out of a place. In other words, no extra time is taken because I do it int he same time someone would walk tot their car. I realize that is no the same for everyone. Also, I have the tendency to move through traffic more quickly on my bike then in a car. Thanks for the info and feedback man. Very helpful.

    Ahhh the woes of riding a sportbike or any stripped down bike for that mater. LOL I have had saddle bags & tail bag, or a trop case, or panniers & top case, or with the maxi-scooter a huge under seat storage + top case. Thing is with the bikes I ride I always have somewhere *on the bike* to store my gear. But I can understand how many face a dilemma of where to put stuff if they don't have on bike storage. Great vid man! Have a safe and wonderful week!

    Interesting subject to talk about. Wearing the appropriate gear for your situation helps a lot. If you've nowhere to get changed then wear overtrousers and not full leathers etc so you can take them off and keep your clothes on underneath. Takes a bit of planning sometimes but thats half the fun!
    Agree with LeanderRandom's comment that u deserve more subscribers.

    The supermarket is one of the worst places I've found to need somewhere to stash your gear. Too hot to wear it. Need your arms free, so can't carry it. Not safe to leave it on the bike in the parking lot. I tend to meet up with someone there who has a car and put my gear on their backseat while we go into the shopping centre.

    Great topic and nice tips & tricks! My biggest annoyance is if I am off on a day trip and want to stop at a scenic spot and do a little hike. I only have use a tailpack-20 and a cbr250 so no much in the way of storage space lol. Great vlog/editing & you have the knack to keep the engagement up there. I actually wear my A* SMX6 boots to work and they are really super comfy, even given I am on my feet for up to 6 hrs. I added gel cushions for some extra height so that may help with the comfort. Cheers!

    thx for the tips. you know I've been riding for yrs. I haven't rode in 5 yrs but all those urs I never wore a helmet. I told u I'm getting a ninja 300 in a few weeks. and my wife wants me to wear a helmet at least. my argument is this it is uncomfortable you can't see very well and hear . I know it can save your life. and since it's been a while since I rode people have changed especially since smart phones and distracted driving. what do you think about modular helmets . me ND a buddy rode for yrs. in the summer we wore shorts t shirt sunglasses. I know it's not safe. but a helmet to me Is a problem.
