And when I use a drop shot I do it different than most people, especially if I use a minnow type bait but do it with worms also. I will keep the line tight let it sit there a few seconds motionless, shake it 2-3 times let it set seconds motionless again shake it again then pull it like I would a Carolina rig then repeat. I try to keep my line tight during the entire process. When I get bit I lower the rod let him take the slack and I also reel down to it and when the line is back snug I set the hook.
I agree with the horny toad being a good bait. I haven't had the same problem as you have. I don't fish crank baits ever due to most ponds around here having so much grass. Drop shot is something used more in lakes, at least around here My 3 are swim jig, ned rig, and a texes rig worm
West of Cleveland here. The river I fish has no grass but I was catching them on Yum Christie Craws in green pumpkin with a 1/8th oz weight and a 3/0 bps round bend hooks today. Also paddle tail swimbaits have been working for me when the bass are chasing bait. A shakey head like a buckeye spot remover with a trick worm always works great but Idk how that would work in grass. Good luck
I like the horny toad a lot but lately I have been throwing the z man goat toad it floats I like being able to stop the bait and twitch it in place with out it sinking.

The Norman Deep Baby N has been my favorite since late 90s. So many fish caught in Caesars Creek on that. Tight lines!
Drop shot all day ever day from January 1st to December 31. Love the morning dawn roboworm.
With that being said, The Norman crank is a golden oldie!!
BFS for that Norman crank would be fire
Norman Baits? That's psycho! 😁

Hard baits 1/4 oz, and smaller, on a 6 lbs spinning reel is KEY for when the bit gets tough.
Green back herring is what your referring to
I do better with the Berkley Dime than the Norman. They are very similar but the Berkley seems to get more hits. Could be the colors.

The horney toad is deadly. In fact, I catch the tar out of them with the toad but can't gain confidence with a hollow body frog
Me too. Weightless Texas rigged toad is my go to top water. Skipping them into drainage tunnels/culverts is deadly.
Which glasses you wear out there besides Oakley
Is it tiny or little n?
Tiny N
Fishing is tough in North East Ohio....a lot of grass and I just can't hook 'em . Any help?
Texas rigged watermelon speed craw 3/16 oz. Berkley 3/0 hook

Are you talking about the little speed craw or the larger size thanks a lot.
@@richardkeller6940 Im sure he means the Zoom Ultravibe Speed Craw. I also had good luck on them in the green pumpkin/blue flash version this year.
@@richardkeller6940 It's 3 1/2 inch.
Ngl i think my dad has one of those that he has had since before i was born
I had a partner fish a “fruit jar” type tournament for a fund raiser with a man that used a white horny toad on a Texas rig and caught a nice bass.
I like the horny toad a lot but lately I have been throwing the z man goat toad it floats I like being able to stop the bait and twitch it in place with out it sinking.
Great info!!! Will give the horny Toad a try!!! Stay Safe & God Bless!!! 🤠👍
